Moving to the master bedroom and bathroom, we created a completely new layout that enlarged the size of the vanities, added a makeup area, and added an extra large shower. The shower and tub are incorporated together in a ‘wet room’ concept, making the space feel open, connected, and cohesive. The walk in concept, with large bench and single pane of glass lead to easy cleaning and maintenance. This spa-like design concept has taken off in recent years, and we were thrilled to make this a reality for these homeowners. The mix of blues and greys is consistent with the rest of the home, while remaining a unique and personal.

Large picture windows replaced existing double hung windows for open views and unencumbered sight lines. The kitchen was relocated and expanded with a new and improved layout featuring an oversized island with ample seating and a warm wood countertop. The Thermador range takes center stage between the large picture windows and has a boxed hood with vent. Cabinet panels were added to the built-in refrigerator for a clean and sophisticated look. Overland Park Interior Designer, Arlene Ladegaard of Design Connection, Inc., was brought into this remodeling project by the client who wanted to update his 1980’s home which sits on a beautiful property, but which had an interior that was severely dated. Prior to the remodel, this kitchen had dated oak cabinets, old counters, antiquated appliances, and inadequate storage. Ladegaard considered the client’s desire to lighten the kitchen, and transformed the space with the aid of Brackman Construction. A load bearing wall was removed to open the space to the great room, and a new large island was added… perfect for entertaining. Aside from the beautiful aesthetics of gray glass staggered tile on the back splash, new quartz counters, gorgeous new appliances, and updated modern lighting, one of Ladegaard’s main considerations in planning this kitchen, was the client’s need for more storage. Cabinets were designed in both the kitchen, and the adjoining laundry/pantry area, where storage was highly customized and made to suit the specific needs of the client. Upon completion of the project, the client is thrilled with the major updates to this functional space.
