It all started with the dishwasher springing a leak while the clients were on vacation. Their home was built around 2002 and it needed to be updated. With the significant water damage it was the time to call in Arlene Ladegaard of Design Connection, Inc to help create a design plan and selections for the contractor, as well new furnishings to replace the old tired pieces that dated back many years.
With its beautifully lite ceilings and modern furniture the clients were thrilled with their new space. They entertain the grand kids and friends in lower level and enjoy their grand view of the golf course below.
Design Connection, Inc. provided: Project Management, designs plans, tile, wall coverings, countertops tops, custom cabinets, furniture, area rugs, lamps, paint selections, faux painting and accessories.

The original kitchen in this stunning home was L-shaped and had a small island and peninsula seating. We expanded the kitchen by enclosing an existing screen porch and adding a new porch to the rear of the house with breathtaking lake views. Large picture windows replaced existing double hung windows for open views and unencumbered sight lines. The kitchen was relocated and expanded with a new and improved layout featuring an oversized island with ample seating and a warm wood countertop. The Thermador range takes center stage between the large picture windows and has a boxed hood with vent. Cabinet panels were added to the built-in refrigerator for a clean and sophisticated look. The white cabinets and marble look quartz are balanced by the warm wood floors and stained countertops. Lantern style pendant lights and strategically placed can lights add to the warmth and brightness of this spectacularly renovated kitchen.
A keeping room was added where the kitchen used to be. A cozy fireplace and reworked windows provide a relaxing space for entertaining. A built-in bar and beverage station was designed for this casual, yet elegant space. A sliding barn door leads to a large walk-through pantry.
The new kitchen placement allowed us to provide a connection to the existing living room with an oversized cased opening. The spaces are now perfectly aligned for daily living and entertaining. The client is thrilled with the design and is in awe of the results. Kustom Home Design provided the perfect solution for this luxury kitchen renovation.

Our clients had thought very hard about remodeling or moving. Their family was at a point where they needed to move or remodel. They loved their neighborhood. In researching their options they found Design Connection, Inc, on Houzz website.
After much thought they decided to remodel their entire first floor of their home to make the space more family friendly.
Our design team at Design Connection, Inc. came up with a plan to remodel the kitchen space and update all the fixtures, flooring, fireplaces. Space plans allowed the client to see where all the new furnishing were going to be placed, as well as choices for carpet, countertops, plumbing, a new island, lighting, tile furniture and accessories. An approval was given and everything was ordered. The client stated “The process was simple and went smoothly.”
The construction process from start to finish took a mere two months and finished on time and on budget. The furniture was delivered at one time and the pictures hung by our professional installer. The accessories were the final element to complete this beautiful project. The client’s left for a few hours with an empty house and came back to their dream home. They were thrilled!

The Clients: two passionate chefs. The Commission: to help them design the perfect Kitchen in which to prepare myriad delectable dishes that they love to plan and execute. The Main Requirements: enough storage to accommodate countless spices, cooking equipment and implements; lots of natural light; and a traditionally detailed, but not overdone design.
We nearly doubled the size of the original galley kitchen by pushing out toward the backyard; laid out the appliances so as to maximize efficiency and work surface area; and designed custom built pull-outs for spice jars, and storage for special cookware, small appliances, cutlery and utensils.
The inspiration for the cabinetry design was the Clients’ impeccable selections of appliances and finishes, and their request for tasteful, simple detailing. The focal point, the heart of this Kitchen, is the beautiful porcelain French stove and custom-designed hood cover. Leaded glass panels in the coffered ceiling add charm and hide roof skylights included in the design to maximize natural light. The large island with porcelain farm sink offers the Clients ample work surface as well as informal seating and storage. A desk / hutch cabinet provides a “central control station” for the family’s activities, as well as display for the Clients’ formal dishes and stemware.
Other improvements included a much-needed Walk-In Pantry achieved by enclosing an existing side porch, and enhanced flow between the Kitchen and Family Room. We accomplished this by removing an existing column and beam which previously blocked the physical and visual connection between the two spaces.
We are delighted with the transformation of the original little galley into our Clients’ dream Kitchen … and our Clients are thrilled that their new Kitchen has cut in half their time spent in epic cooking sessions on the weekends!

Welcome to our #TerraHouseProject We were so grateful that our client trusted us to reimagine their home. Keep swiping to see the before photos!
We began designing this project in 2020, and while the journey took longer than expected for a variety of reasons, we’re thrilled to finally see the project come to life in its full form.
The scope involved an addition added onto the FRONT of the home. The addition included an extension of the entryway and dining room, as well as adding a gallery/library and office and office bath. With the addition, we also cosmetically remodeled their kitchen, powder bath, lounge and fireplace. The front elevation completely changed and the home feels like an entirely new home.
Our client envisioned a space that felt earthy and organic, reflecting a deep connection to nature. They also wanted to incorporate global elements inspired by their travels, creating a warm, well-traveled aesthetic that tells their story through textures, materials, and curated pieces from around the world.

Arlene Ladegaard, owner of Design Connection, Inc. was chosen among many candidates for the redesign and furnishing of this beautiful home. The living room was the first to be addressed along with the entryway and dining room. The clients loved their existing sofa from their old home. It was Italian in styling and sat very low to the ground. The new furnishings had to complement this one item in scale and color.
The new furniture was chosen with scale and comfort in mind. The large wall behind the sofa included a new custom cabinet cantilevered off the floor. Zebrawood was used for this contemporary custom cabinet and a natural floor stain to complement the furnishings. The existing artwork was brought over from their previous home and the oranges, blues and grays were taken from the colors in the paintings.
A steel gray color for the walls was a perfect choice to complement the furniture, warm leather tones and the geometric wool area rugs. The clients are thrilled with their new space and love the accents by the fireplace, which display their own treasured accessories.
Design Connection, Inc. provided: space plans, furniture, area rugs, paint colors, stain colors, custom cabinet and project management.

The stunning two-sided fireplace creates a warm connection between the living room and office. On one side, a large handcrafted mantel, beautifully lit by overhead lights, highlights its exquisite craftsmanship. Adjacent to it, a custom mini bar—added at the owner's request and inspired by our "Serene 1" project—features granite countertops, stylish shelving, and a built-in mini fridge for the perfect blend of function and luxury. The owners couldn't be more thrilled with the result!
