In the living room, ceilings soar two stories to create a feeling of vastness. The catwalk keeps things balanced by connecting the upstairs with the lower floor. Clad in wooden paneling, the walkway spans the width of the living room, carving out volume below for extra seating. First home, savvy art owners, decided to hire RBD to design their recently purchased two story, four bedroom, midcentury Diamond Heights home to merge their new parenthood and love for entertaining lifestyles. Hired two months prior to the arrival of their baby boy, RBD was successful in installing the nursery just in time. The home required little architectural spatial reconfiguration given the previous owner was an architect, allowing RBD to focus mainly on furniture, fixtures and accessories while updating only a few finishes. New paint grade paneling added a needed midcentury texture to the entry, while an existing site for sore eyes radiator, received a new walnut cover creating a built-in mid-century custom headboard for the guest room, perfect for large art and plant decoration. RBD successfully paired furniture and art selections to connect the existing material finishes by keeping fabrics neutral and complimentary to the existing finishes. The backyard, an SF rare oasis, showcases a hanging chair and custom outdoor floor cushions for easy lounging, while a stylish midcentury heated bench allows easy outdoor entertaining in the SF climate. The owners desire a whole-house renovation which would improve the general building fabric and systems, and extend the sense of living out of doors in all seasons. The original sixties-modern character is preserved and the renovation extends the design forward into a contemporary, modern approach. Connections to and through the site are enhanced through the creation of new larger window and door openings. Screened porches and decks perch above the sloped and wooded site. The new kitchen and bathrooms allow for opportunities to feel out-of -doors while preparing, cooking, dining, and bathing. Smart passive strategies guide the environmental choices for this project, including envelope improvements, updated mechanical systems, and on-site stormwater management.

In this master suite, a monochrome color scheme presents a bold look with the addition of curtains, pillows and a duvet cover all in vibrant floral upholstery. Sea grass wallpaper covers a layered inset behind the bed. Crystal detailing on the modern ceiling lights and beside lamps add an extravagant flair, and chrome furnishings create a lustrous gleam.

This beautiful Tiffany style collection features a handcrafted genuine art glass shade created in rich jewel tones as well as soft pastels. The glass is arranged in a classic Art Nouveau pattern. Two salvage doors were transformed into a cool industrial sliding barn door to partition off the unfinished laundry room area from the finished basement family room in this basement renovation by Arciform.
