Lobelia Bungalow Single family residence near Hillsboro WV. Highlight This home is constructed with hempcrete. Hempcrete is a biocomposite material composed of hemp fiber and a lime based binder. For more detailed information on hempcrete see our blog post. The hempcrete on this project was cast in place. The walls are 12" thick and extend from the foundation up to the bottom of the trusses. 2x4 studs on 24" centers sit at the center of the wall, serving to transfer the roof load to the foundation. Hempcrete forms a monolithic wall assembly, replacing the batt insulation, drywall, OSB sheathing, and siding that would be used in a conventional stick built house. Both the inside and outside of the hempcrete walls are finished with 2 layers of lime based plaster. Detail The structure is built into a hillside to the North and has full exposure and a partial basement on the South side. A slab on grade with in-floor hydronic radiant heat conditions the main level. Supplemental passive solar heating was achieved by orienting the house due south and adding extra glazing to the south wall. Overhangs were designed to prevent overheating in the summertime. This custom reclaimed wood laundry chute is the perfect way to easily transfer your laundry from one room to another, all the while maintaining the style of the room.

Congratulations to the family that allowed us to transform their kitchen space! We managed to complete this remodel - just in time for them to bring a beautiful baby girl into this world! It was quite an amazing experience to design and remodel this home with our new Medallion Cabinetry product line. The main area of cabinetry features our Gold Line in Park Place door style, in the color Sea Salt with Pewter Highlight. Their new 7ft island is our Appaloosa Peppercorn with matching island legs. New Vista managed this project from start to finish, including all permits required by the local building department. The previous 20ft wall had been located from the area of the remaining post to the window to the right of the sink, shown in these photos. Proper removal of this wall did require a structurally sound weight load transfer in the attic. Safety comes first! Also included: Granite counters, new appliances, brick style backsplash, flooring, gas line/plumbing/electrical relocation, can lighting and new plumbing fixtures. Our CAD drawings are proving to be incredibly helpful in the design process of our remodels, allowing customers to really SEE what they can do with the space they have! This project had closed without any change orders and the total time encompassed exactly 8wks - from demolition to final inspection!

Andrew’s taste for a clean, Contemporary and masculine interior, transferred into using wood and leather elements to warm up the space. Our design process was largely remote, sending options to this client by email, paired with thorough explanations and recommendations. With this, Andrew was able to make wise decisions within his budget.
