Inspiration for an eclectic bathroom remodel in Los Angeles
Inspiration for an eclectic bathroom remodel in Los Angeles

Before, a gravel pathway with out of scale plants. Our clients wanted a more crisp and functional side yard. One of the things we do to make a space look larger is to stain wooden fences green, a Trompe-l'œil sort of effect to fool the eye.

New kitchen and dining room layout for an open floor plan. New Staircase to be built shortly and turn into this space for a dramatic effect

This luxurious bathroom comes complete with a custom vanity, ample drawer storage including cabinets on top of the countertop enhanced with frosted glass doors. The bathroom floor is a field of porcelain damask and diamond-shaped tiles with a border that follows the perimeter of the room including the shape of the cabinetry. Faucets for the vanity are chrome and they are offset from center for a nice symmetrical look. Delicate chrome sconces flank a 48" round mirror that makes the room feel spacious. A gray glass subway tile backsplash is continued around the entire perimeter of the shower. The shower floor is a zero-entry shower which means that it is at the same level as the bathroom floor. Damask shapes continue in the shower. They grace the back wall as a waterfall feature that highlights the rain shower head. The handle to turn on the shower is installed on the adjacent wall so the homeowners can turn on the water without getting that first cold burst. An elegant chrome chandelier is hung at the center of the vanity and extends down from the wood molding feature on the ceiling. Inside a damask-shaped pattern is stenciled for a very dramatic effect. Glass knobs were used for the vanity hardware and a glass knob follows suit on the frosted glass entry door.

Customer's of mine bought their three year old son a race car toddler bed to support his current interests for Christmas. Before that his room was themed for nursery, designed with tree and monkey which is great for infants, but would no longer fit their new ideas. The homeowners also requested a time effective solution so we collaborated with one another and came up with the following Plan: I used the remaining paint from the original application to cover over the old work. This was the largest time savor in that the crib would be the only piece of furniture required to be moved. Prior to we agreed that subtlety was something we wanted to hold onto as much as possible. So I painted a running checker border, using only the accent color to the car and the original wall color rather than introducing an additional color which would have resulted in a louder feel. I designed the drag light as a teaching friendly tool. Building it with triangles at its base, rectangles within and circle silhouettes so that the toddler can easily identify with it's shapes. Using his current age I assigned him his first racing number and closed out this one day transformation with the finish line flag.

We planted bamboo to create an effective privacy screen. If you don't need a fence for pets or kids, consider clumping bamboo, the only kind we install.

The waterfall counter look in a kitchen refers to the installation of a continuous countertop material that extends vertically down the sides of an island or cabinet, creating a seamless and flowing appearance. This design choice allows the countertop material, such as marble or quartz, to cascade down the sides, resembling a waterfall. The result is a sleek and modern aesthetic that adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to the kitchen. The waterfall effect can complement various styles, from contemporary to more traditional, depending on the chosen material and overall kitchen design.
