This airbnb was a little different as the homeowner lives here during the summer and rents it out when they are out of the country the rest of the year. It's always a little more difficult when you are designing for two purposes (ie the family when they live there and airbnb guests / general public the rest of the year). There's a fine balance that must happen. The theme was "travel" so we created rooms that encouraged this: the Paris room, the Oceania room, and the Amazon room. After a complete renovation of their beautiful home in Boulder County, our client enlisted AWID to take their project across the finish line by designing and furnishing their entryway, family room, dining room, and piano room. The carefully curated spaces were designed to embrace the casual elegance of our clients and their home; a country estate nestled in horse country. The project includes custom furnishings, draperies, and accessories. As that portion of the project began to wind down, AWID moved on to the homeowner's home office. Stunning grasscloth covers the walls and a custom built-in bookcase is the perfect place to display treasures from our client's years of working and traveling abroad. AWID then moved on to the primary suite, designing a sanctuary by installing a new custom fireplace, furnishings, and draperies.

The owner travels a lot, especially because she loves Thailand and Sri Lanka. These countries tend to mix modernity with traditions, and we did the same in the interior. Despite quite natural and rustic feels, the apartment is equipped with hi-tech amenities that guarantee a comfortable life. It’s like a bungalow made of wood, clay, linen and all-natural. Handmade light is an important part of every MAKHNO Studio project. Wabi Sabi searches for simplicity and harmony with nature.
