This Natural Stone Patio Addition project included approximately 800 square feet of Irregular flagstone. The flagstone patio and walkway was added to an existing paver patio pool area. New trees and shrubs were installed throughout the property as well. This project also included edging and mulching the remaining pool area not being replanted during walkway and patio construction as well as the front of the house across the porch to the driveway. This included edging, pre-emergent weed preventer and triple cut bark mulch. New landscape lighting was installed on select trees as well as 11 path lights along the walkway and front of the home.

Then the major plantings of Crapemyrtle, Western Arborvitae, and other evergreen screening plants were added. The next step was planting smaller shrubs like native Summersweet, dwarf variegated Boxwood, native Sweetspire, Cherry Laurel, and dwarf Butterfly bush. Next, we added numerous perennials for sequential bloom and finally bulbs for early spring color and pollinator interest.
Lastly, everything was mulched with natural triple-shredded hardwood bark mulch. Now our client has many years to look forward to with screening, pollinator interest, and ongoing blooms on trees, shrubs perennials, and spring flowering bulbs.

The 7,600 square-foot residence was designed for large, memorable gatherings of family and friends at the lake, as well as creating private spaces for smaller family gatherings. Keeping in dialogue with the surrounding site, a palette of natural materials and finishes was selected to provide a classic backdrop for all activities, bringing importance to the adjoining environment.
In optimizing the views of the lake and developing a strategy to maximize natural ventilation, an ideal, open-concept living scheme was implemented. The kitchen, dining room, living room and screened porch are connected, allowing for the large family gatherings to take place inside, should the weather not cooperate. Two main level master suites remain private from the rest of the program; yet provide a complete sense of incorporation. Bringing the natural finishes to the interior of the residence, provided the opportunity for unique focal points that complement the stunning stone fireplace and timber trusses.

When there is a lot of house you need a lot of light. Quality of light overcomes quantity of light. Some Great lighting design shows this house off well. I just love the raised turnaround planter with the Green Acer Viridis Maple. What a gorgeous specimen and lights up well. You actually need two types of lighting strategies to illuminate the Specimen. Since the Japanese Maple defoliates from November through April the under well lighting works well on the magnificent bark and branching of the tree. From May- til october the foliage is such a gorgeous umbrella of fringe like denseness that illuminating best would be with accents on the outside shining onto the foliage cross lighting 360 degrees as it can be viewed from the ability to drive around the planter. The secret to success hear is understanding the Plant materials and how they present themselves all 8 seasons four seasons both day and night,

Note the exposed ledge emerging from the clover-filled erosion-control seed mix. All square footage of the site was 'touched' during construction, to create a super easy-to care for landscape the permitted views into the woods beyond while creating space for the solar panels to operate. The space between the house and garage provide that sunny moment with no trees and a drop in grade. Paths made with bark chips from removed trees allow the owners to reach every corner of the site.
