Inspiration for a large country three-story mixed siding apartment exterior remodel in Seattle

A sunken garden in south London.
The sunken seating, evergreen planting and multi stem trees in this small garden maximises privacy and brings a feeling of lushness to the space. A long season of interest in the planting comes firstly from the peeling bark and ultra long catkins of the multi stem Betula albosinensis ‘Fascination’. The Malus Evereste not only delights with its spring blossom but also carries its tiny crabapples late into autumn. Floor standing Foscarini Gregg lamps bring an intimate atmosphere to the garden.

Cork flooring is actually made from the bark of the cork oak tree, a species prevalent in the Mediterranean region. This is a 100% recyclable and sustainable resource as no tree is cut down to provide the source material. The honey-comb structure of cork itself gives it the ability to insulate against thermal and acoustic transfer. The waxy substance, Suberin, generated in cork protects it from liquids, bugs, mold and mildew. Go barefoot on a cork floor and feel the difference in terms of surface hardness/harshness and contact warmth. And when compared to the dust, dander and dirt that carpets collect, you’ll breath easier with cork as it doesn’t want them.

The gracefully flaring entry walk creates a sense of drama and elegance for a newly constructed home in Glen Ellyn. The small multi-stemmed tree in the background is Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry (Amelanchier X 'Autumn Brilliance') Premium shredded hardwood bark mulch gives the freshly planted beds a finished appearance and will reduce maintenance by conserving moisture and keeping weed seed from germinating.
The bright blue/green material is a treated excelsior blanket. It's used to restore the turf and acts as a mulch, protecting grass seed from birds, erosion and moisture loss..

"Consumers have made the move to cork as the material of choice in homes and offices as it has proven to be ideal for covering not only floors but also walls. It has an interesting look and is also environmentally sustainable, as well as durable and affordable. Unlike other wood flooring where the trees are killed during the process, the cork oak tree is not injured or damaged when its bark is harvested. Make the ‘green’ choice too.

This beautiful property featured beautiful decks, patios, a pool, water fall, sport court and stone planters, but the landscape needed to be expanded, refreshed and revived for sale. Using an eye for beauty and balance, we added beautiful plants, lighting, a new lawn, bark, a fire pit area, screening shrubs for the neighbors, and new plants for the patio planters. It turned out beautiful and was sold at a great price for the sellers.

This Lookout Mtn. home had a beautiful Country French style about it but not enough structural evergreen to frame the foundations. I added evergreen shrubs, Espaliered fruit trees on blank walls, and the rambling rose “Peggy Martin” to add old world cottage charm…Drift Roses, “Encore” reblooming Azaleas and many Hydrangea varieties added high impact bloom and color! We added large perimeter borders along the property lines and back yard fencing to minimize the boxed in feel… Utilizing River Birch for their amazing color and exfoliating bark adding year-round interest. We also planted Cryptomeria and Vitex Trees to visually block out the nearby power station.

Replanted with new trees and shrubs for a more colorful arrangement that won't overgrow the space.

Drought tolerant can be colorful and enchanting! Kalanchoe and aloes bring in the warm orange tones, the black colored plants are very dark purple aeoniums.
