© Wing Wong Space efficiency was a major design factor in this one bedroom apartment on Fifth Avenue that serves as a second home. Pocket doors were installed to the living room to provide privacy when necessary but allow light to enter the interior of the apartment, and a spacious foyer now acts as a dining room. Custom cabinetry in the home office and bedroom maximizes storage space for books, and millwork details provide formality and visual interest to an otherwise simple space.

This large bathroom remodel feature a clawfoot soaking tub, a large glass enclosed walk in shower, a private water closet, large floor to ceiling linen closet and a custom reclaimed wood vanity made by Limitless Woodworking. Light fixtures and door hardware were provided by Houzz. This modern bohemian bathroom also showcases a cement tile flooring, a feature wall and simple decor to tie everything together.

Originally, the front of the house was on the left (eave) side, facing the primary street. Since the Garage was on the narrower, quieter side street, we decided that when we would renovate, we would reorient the front to the quieter side street, and enter through the front Porch. So initially we built the fencing and Pergola entering from the side street into the existing Front Porch. Then in 2003, we pulled off the roof, which enclosed just one large room and a bathroom, and added a full second story. Then we added the gable overhangs to create the effect of a cottage with dormers, so as not to overwhelm the scale of the site. The shingles are stained Cabots Semi-Solid Deck and Siding Oil Stain, 7406, color: Burnt Hickory, and the trim is painted with Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior Low Luster Narraganset Green HC-157, (which is actually a dark blue). This bright & beautiful traditional kitchen is a wonderful addition to a historic home located in midtown Tulsa. The owners (who are avid cooks that love to entertain), wanted a kitchen that would both make sense in their home, while giving it a fresh feel as soon as you enter through the front door. It features a sizable island with honed marble counter top, UltraCraft Crystal Lake Red Birch cabinets with a Porcini stained finish, seating for five, a six foot Galley Ideal Workstation and 15" Wolf two burner induction cooktop for easy meal preparation. The kitchens perimeter features a Thermador gas range top with Thermador vent hood, farmhouse cleanup sink surrounded by a brushed granite counter top, a 42" Sub-Zero built in refrigerator, Wolf steam oven and Gaggenau oven with UltraCraft Crystal Lake Maple cabinets with a Melted Brie painted finish throughout. This entire kitchen truly looks beautiful in concert with the homes original wood floors.

The dining room is the first space you see when entering this home, and we wanted you to feel drawn right into it. We selected a mural wallpaper to wrap the walls and add a soft yet intriguing backdrop to the clean lines of the light fixture and furniture. But every space needs at least a touch of play, and the classic wishbone chair in a cheerful green does just the trick!

A trompe l'oeil mural on the wall of a narrow hallway helps to widen and lighten the feel of the space. The mural is a painterly sneak preview of the actual scene of the York Sound that becomes visible at the end of the hallway as you enter the Living/Dining area. The homeowner's favorite decorative bench was painted into the mural along with a drop shadow. The bench and window are actually flat on the wall. A great trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) effect!
