This existing client reached out to MMI Design for help shortly after the flood waters of Harvey subsided. Her home was ravaged by 5 feet of water throughout the first floor. What had been this client's long-term dream renovation became a reality, turning the nightmare of Harvey's wrath into one of the loveliest homes designed to date by MMI. We led the team to transform this home into a showplace. Our work included a complete redesign of her kitchen and family room, master bathroom, two powders, butler's pantry, and a large living room. MMI designed all millwork and cabinetry, adjusted the floor plans in various rooms, and assisted the client with all material specifications and furnishings selections. Returning these clients to their beautiful '"new" home is one of MMI's proudest moments!

A great way to brighten up a bedroom is with painted nightstands. In this case, we wanted to maintain a calming environment with neutral wall colors and bedding. To add a bit of cheer to the space, we upholstered two lounge chairs and painted both nightstands similar shaded of aqua. Martha O'Hara Interiors, Interior Design | L. Ground Up - New Construction Design. From all details on the exterior, including doors, windows, siding, lighting, the house numbers, and mailbox; to all interior finishes including tile, stone, paints, cabinet design, and much more. We added fun color elements using paint and tile to modernise the farmhouse feel of this family home. The home also features beautiful wood and gold/brass elements to contrast matte black finishes and bring in earth elements.

Soft blue color palette, reminiscence of the snow just outside the window. The blue provides a nice contrast to the rest of the home.
Wood-clad walls were unchanged by the design team. We love the rustic, natural element that is original to the home. The wood walls throughout the home add so much character – they’re great. Custom built-in bunks were designed by the LU design team. Even though this cabin is small, it sleeps a lot! Designers kept this in mind, maximizing the amount of guest that could stay here.

The wet bar includes a built-in wine cooler and a highlight in this stunning kitchen renovation is the ceiling hung glass and metal shelving unit that is truly a piece of art.

The hall table is a custom made piece design by in collaboration with the interior designer, Ashley Whittaker. The floor has an inlay Greek key border, and the walls are covered hand painted Gracie paper.

This Palm Springs inspired, one story, 8,245 sq. ft. modernist “party pad” merges golf and Rat Pack glamour. The net-zero home provides resort-style living and overlooks fairways and water views. The front elevation of this mid-century, sprawling ranch showcases a patterned screen that provides transparency and privacy. The design element of the screen reappears throughout the home in a manner similar to Frank Lloyd Wright’s use of design patterns throughout his homes. The home boasts a HERS index of zero. A 17.1 kW Photovoltaic and Tesla Powerwall system provides approximately 100% of the electrical energy needs.

“Greensboro’s Grandest House” was recently selected as the 2013 ShowHouse presented by the Junior League of Greensboro and national media sponsor Traditional Home. Among the local and national design talent featured in this special fundraising event was design duo Patti Allen and Stephanie James of Furnitureland South, who transformed the estate’s patio into a classic, colorful and cozy space.
Built in the early 1920s, the Adamsleigh estate is more than 15,000 square feet and covers 13.5 acres that include pools, a lake, tennis courts, a stone gazebo and a five-car garage. The 30×60 patio presented a special design challenge – the space was in disrepair and sat unevenly on a downward slope. Rising to the challenge, Patti and Stephanie partnered with Outer Space Landscapes to change the elevation of the patio in order to draw attention to the focal point and inspiration of the project: a beautiful canopy sofa by Century Furniture.
The addition of 6 tons of landscaping material included Pennsylvania blue stone, pebbles, sand, cherry trees, azaleas and geraniums all blooming in the colors of the latest Sunbrella fabrics featured in the outdoor furnishings: crisp, sandy white, fuchsia and tangerine. Patti and Stephanie wanted to showcase clean and classic outdoor style with an edge of color and unexpected elements. Playful ottomans by Baker float in the space for multiple functions, adding an extra pop of color to the sophisticated setting which includes a dining table by Oscar de la Renta, organic spot tables from Phillips Collection, and daybeds and seating from Century Furniture.
Combining their passion for interior spaces with signature designs, Allen and James Designs gave this outdoor space the comfort, color and style it deserved.
Patti and Stephanie, co-founders of Allen and James Designs, are committed to inspire and influence unique spaces for home, work, play and relaxation. With over 25 years of experience and a dedication to client relationships, their infusion of international inspiration with style, color, texture and vision make Patti and Stephanie a creative duo capable of exceeding the expectations of any client’s design project. By forming over 400 connections with key manufactures such as Henredon, Century, Lillian August, Dovetail, Maitland Smith and Huntington House, Allen and James Designs can provide a broad range of options that virtually meet any need a client has to create their dream home.

This beautiful tropical home built on Kauai's south shore takes a modern approach to tropical design. The teak columns are square, the eves are stained an ebony and the roofing is shaker. We wanted each space to feel open and the indoor-outdoor design to be carried throughout the home. Each bedroom opens up to the exterior lanai areas and both the master suite bathrooms open to private courtyards and outdoor showers. The main lanai is a mixture of teak and porcelain creating a modern and natural atmosphere. The infinity edge pool has a swim-up bar, aqua lounge area, and seamless spa.

This elegant bathroom showcases a sophisticated design with its crisp white cabinetry, marble countertop, and stylish arched mirrors. Gold fixtures and crystal wall sconces add a touch of luxury, while the large windows allow natural light to illuminate the serene space. Perfectly blending classic and contemporary elements, this bathroom creates a tranquil and luxurious retreat.

Architectural harmony and tropical luxury converge in this grand modern home, where balance and geometry define every view. Twin balconies and paneled garage doors create a rhythmic façade framed by lush palms and sculptural landscaping. The paved circular drive enhances the home’s formal symmetry, leading to an elegant staircase and stately double entry. Subtle lighting warms the exterior as evening settles over the horizon, highlighting refined craftsmanship and modern design elements. Perfectly embodying the essence of contemporary home renovation and coastal refinement, the residence stands as a testament to modern architectural artistry.

This large custom bunk room sleeps six. The Mediterranean Sea and bustling city are visible through the floor to ceiling windows, allowing children constant views of the world below. A fairly neutral color palette keeps with the contemporary flair of the rest of the home. The mini woven chairs will not only stand the test of time, but they also add a fun design element to the space. Fun geometrics adorn the headboards, adding an edgy custom element to the design.

For this 9,000 square-foot, timber-frame home we designed wholly traditional elements with natural materials, including brushed brass, real chequered marble floors, oak timbers, stone and cast limestone—and mixed them with a modern palette of soft greys and whites.
We also juxtaposed traditional design elements with modern furniture: pieces featuring rounded boucle shapes, rattan, Vienna straw, modern white oak chairs. There’s a thread of layered, European timelessness throughout, even though it’s minimalist and airy.
