The scenic village of Mountain Brook Alabama, known for its hills, scenic trails and quiet tree-lined streets. The family found a charming traditional 2-story brick house that was newly built. The trick was to make it into a home. How the family would move throughout the home on a daily basis was the guiding principle in creating dedicated spots for crafting, homework, two separate offices, family time and livable outdoor space that is used year round. Out of the chaos of relocation, an oasis emerged. Leveraging a simple white color palette, layers of texture, organic materials and an occasional pop of color, a sense of polished comfort comes to life.

Loft spaces design was always one of my favorite projects back in architecture school day. After a complete demolition we started putting this loft penthouse back together again under a contemporary design guide lines. The floors are made of huge 48x48 porcelain tile that looks like acid washed concrete floors. the once common wet bar was redesigned with stainless steel cabinets and transparent glass shelf. Above the glass and stainless steel shelf we have a large custom made LED light fixture that illuminates the bar top threw the transparent shelf.

Driven by one of our guiding words—reveal—the custom fluted steel fireplace surround and rounded walnut corners provide textural relief that changes with the natural and extensive integrated electric light throughout the day. In addition to honoring the floor-to-ceiling walnut shelving featured throughout the original living room, we also added new French doors to directly connect this space to the backyard. Fireplace wall stone is Saratoga Leathered Quartzite. Fireplace hearth stone is Negresco Honed Granite. Custom fluted steel fireplace surround.

An early decision to preserve the garage rafter ties guided the concept of a modern cabin, juxtaposing knotty wood with clean white forms, utilitarian flooring with soft, cozy furnishings. This home addition didn't go according to plan... and that's a good thing. Here's why. Family is really important to the Nelson's. But the small kitchen and living room in their 30 plus-year-old house meant crowded holidays for all the children and grandchildren. It was easy to see that a major home remodel was needed. The problem was the Nelson's didn't know anyone who had a great experience with a builder. The Nelson's connected with ALL Renovation & Design at a home show in York, PA, but it wasn't until after sitting down with several builders and going over preliminary designs that it became clear that Amos listened and cared enough to guide them through the project in a way that would achieve their goals perfectly. So work began on a new addition with a “great room” and a master bedroom with a master bathroom. That's how it started. But the project didn't go according to plan. Why? Because Amos was constantly asking, “What would make you 100% satisfied.” And he meant it. For example, when Mrs. Nelson realized how much she liked the character of the existing brick chimney, she didn't want to see it get covered up. So plans changed mid-stride. But we also realized that the brick wouldn't fit with the plan for a stone fireplace in the new family room. So plans changed there as well, and brick was ordered to match the chimney. It was truly a team effort that produced a beautiful addition that is exactly what the Nelson's wanted... or as Mrs. Nelson said, “...even better, more beautiful than we envisioned.” For Christmas, the Nelson's were able to have the entire family over with plenty of room for everyone. Just what they wanted. The outside of the addition features GAF architectural shingles in Pewter, Certainteed Mainstreet D4 Shiplap in light maple, and color-matching bricks. Inside the great room features the Armstrong Prime Harvest Oak engineered hardwood in a natural finish, Masonite 6-panel pocket doors, a custom sliding pine barn door, and Simonton 5500 series windows. The master bathroom cabinetry was made to match the bedroom furniture set, with a cultured marble countertop from Countertec, and tile flooring.

One of the most significant parts of the transformation was the installation of new porcelain tiles throughout the space. The refreshed floors provided a new, fresh look and complemented the overall aesthetic of the home. As part of the renovation, we also removed walls between various rooms, including family rooms, kitchens, and the grand salon. This opened up the space and created a warm, inviting atmosphere that connects all the spaces in the house. The kitchen was one of the main focal points of the renovation, with new appliances, quartzite cabinets, and countertops, and mosaic tile backsplash. These additions helped bring out the home's personality, and the outcome was a kitchen that not only serves its primary purpose but also adds a sense of refined elegance to the entire space. The custom cabinets and the quartzite island added more storage and a seating area, allowing the homeowner to conveniently entertain guests in style. Another notable transformation was done in the primary bathroom, which now features new cabinets, mirrors, wall tile, and quartz countertops. The renovations to the bath space are in line with the overall transformation of the home, adding elegance and class to the most private area of the home. But the highlight of the project was the family room, which was brought to life with a new state-of-the-art, stone infinity calcutta porcelain slab fireplace. This focal point adds a touch of luxury and sophistication, making it the perfect place to kick back and relax. Lastly, we transformed the bar with new cabinets, quartzite countertops, and glass. The bar now beautifully sits in the center of the space, creating a perfect gathering point for entertaining guests and hosting events. Once again another sunken living room, with an existing wood-burning fireplace, falling apart cabinetry, and no electrical overhead lighting we helped transform this space into a light, bright, and airy family room with a new electric fireplace, new cabinetry for storage, and more!

Set on 88th Street in Manhattan's Upper East Side, this four-bedroom residence was created by merging two separate condominium units into a single, cohesive luxury home. The result is a sprawling, artful space defined by confidence, color, and a deeply personal design vocabulary. The project represents a full-service interior design engagement: spatial planning, material selection, furniture sourcing, artwork curation, and complete project coordination. Nearly every element was specified and placed by Mazen Designs, with furnishings sourced largely through Roche Bobois. The home unfolds from a striking cross-shaped hallway anchored by a custom T-shaped rug that guides movement through the space. To one side, the primary bedroom suite. To the other, a flexible home office that doubles as a guest suite, and a tranquil secondary bedroom. Straight ahead, a streamlined kitchen opens to a formal dining area and beyond that, a dedicated media and Mah Jong room designed for relaxed gathering. The palette balances jewel tones with crisp whites and greys. Bold in intention but disciplined in execution. A Maya Romanoff wall covering and curated artwork complete the layering of texture, light, and silhouette throughout. The clients arrived hesitant toward color.
