Recently, Certified Arborist and Urban Forester, Micah Pace, was called upon to assess and remove three trees that a home was built around 35 years ago. The family fell in love with this McKinney, Texas property because of the large cedar elms that filled the neighborhood. Instead of removing the trees to make room for the home, the family hired an architect to build the home around the trees (THAT's dedication!). They knew they’d eventually have to remove the trees due to construction and environmental damage, but they just couldn’t bear to part with them at the time of the home build.

The curves of the original garden have been emphasized by the creekbed and flower beds. The drainage problem has been solved with not just ingenuity but additional beauty. The statue of a faun--a minor woodland deity--caps off our project.

Yoshikawa The granite slab is cantilevered which gives the heavy granite a weightless appearance. The water trough is carved into the granite to give the appearance of water emanating from a stone.

Our client gave us the go ahead to "do what we do" having seen our portfolio. So this is what we did..... One of our most creative grade changes to date utilizing multiple products from Ideal Concrete and weathered boulders from the property. The goal was to create a space that fit in to the unique architecture of the house yet appears to have always been there.
