Our homeowner had dreamt about one day redoing her beyond outdated kitchen since they day her husband carried her over the threshold. Vinyl flooring used for a backsplash, dingy carpeting, laminate with no sheen left to speak of and mismatched cabinetry…. it was time to make it happen. A year’s worth of planning later, her time capsule became one dreamy kitchen. Functionality reigns supreme in this small, but efficient kitchen where every cabinet has a story to tell and a place to store it. Countertop space to the right of the stove was an added necessity for function and safety. The raised snack bar is perfect for day to day meals and the lowered countertop was a must for this petite baker. A new lighting plan includes recessed lights, under-cabinet and accent lights, while new lighting fixtures reflect the client’s sense of style. Dingy brick patterned carpet was removed making way for new hardwood floors toothed in from the dining room. An airy palette gained some weight with the use of larger details; the oversized hood, beefy turned posts, prominent apron front sink and a grouping of tall cabinets on the refrigerator wall. Kitchen - transitional kitchen idea in Minneapolis

This gorgeous Craftsman-style kitchen started as a watercolor painting created by Michele of Drury Lane Interiors as a visual for the client. They loved the painting so much, that they moved forward in making it a reality. Note the glass-tile niche added to create visual interest above the stove. Other exciting elements of this space include, the unique glass and stainless-steel curved hood which mimics the curve of the niche; and the lovely Craftsman-style, glass-front cabinets. The upper cabinets open from the bottom, for ease of use, and you can never go wrong with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.

This kitchen features Shaker-style cherry cabinets with a natural, clear finish, and a mix of brushed nickel, stainless steel and copper accents. The backsplash is travertine subway tiles, with a decorative band of copper and marble. Copper accessories adorn the counter tops, and a copper pendant light hangs over the sink. The master suite was re-configured to include a private water closet, a larger closet, his and her vanities, and soaking tub, and large shower. The ceiling was raised, beams and chandelier added to give height, and also help create a private retreat. Designed to stay clutter free, the shower features a built in recessed niche & a large bench seat, to organize the homeowners shower products. The two person shower outfitted with 3 showering components, encourages shared time. Showering configurations invite the owners to enjoy personalized spa settings together, including a ceiling mounted rain shower head, & a multi- functional shower head and handheld with a pivot for precise positioning. Vertical wall tiles mixed with blue glass mosaic tiles create visual interest. The pebble floor not only feels amazing underfoot but adds an unexpected twist to this modern downtown retreat.
