While some elements are whimsical, such as the playful octopus art & fish-themed fabric, other elements are sophisticated and classic, to help keep the design grounded. Special features include a custom-made “Moroccan Fish Scale” tile backsplash in the kitchen, crushed marble counter tops with oyster shells and float glass, and blue glass pendant lights, reminiscent of water bubbles.

The exterior of what looks like a vernacular Hamptons shingle cottage, designed by architect Blaze Makoid, is intentionally deceiving. For the interiors, Axis Mundi typically decided not to play by the rules. Instead of de rigeur nautical artifacts, floppy sofas and wicker furniture, the firm responded to Makoid’s all-white interior envelope by injecting rooms with comfortable modern elegance that’s more contemporary Cap Ferrat than Eastern Long Island. Clean furniture silhouettes—from Cassina, Poltrona Frau and B&B Italia—a Massimo Vitali beach scene, a Moooi chandelier and industrial finishes (such as the steel of the fireplace surround and the anodized aluminum of a sleek Bulthaup kitchen) spark a creative tension between indoors and out. The gray palette provides a quiet backdrop for the nature outside, except for the master suite, where custom oak panels and blue shades create a reassuring warmth conducive to sleep. Tony from Lugoff, South Carolina did his own Pro Dunk Gold Basketball System easy-installation on the side of his asphalt concrete driveway. It is assembled in the front yard of his residence. The playing area is 30 feet wide and 35 feet deep. This is a Pro Dunk Gold Basketball System that was purchased in December of 2012. It was installed on a 30 ft wide by a 35 ft deep playing area in Lugoff, SC. Our clients, who love to entertain, hired us to create an airy, storybook backdrop for family and friends. We chose organic textures, subtle patterns, and a crisp white palette for the majority of the first floor – which takes on a heavenly cast in the completely transformed kitchen. From the Lily-white quartzite countertops and ultra-glam backsplash (above the stove) to the luxe private and social spaces indoors and out, this reimagined home now reflects their high-style taste. A playful print valance and caramel-hued wood in the breakfast nook provide a little contrast in the mostly-white space.

The guest bathroom plays an important role on how your guests will perceive the architecture and style of your home. In this house we totally transformed the outdated bathroom. In collaboration with Roberto Lugo a daring designer from New York, the design process was focused on creating a contemporary space that could be elegant and comfortable. The initial renovation on this project started with the demolition of entire bathroom including doors, vanity, floor, plumbing and light fixture, toilet, tub, tile switches and outlet. For the vanity, a furniture-like cabinet style with soft close hardware. The brown stain was paired perfectly with a brown engineered quartz countertop that had specs of copper. We installed new undermount sinks and new chrome faucet. Instead of the typical matching stone 4” backsplash we opted to use the said mosaic used in the shower to tie the 2 areas together. The shower turned out beautifully. We coordinated the quarts from the vanity and used the same material on the shower seat and the top of the armrest. We used a total of 4 tile materials, a glass mosaic in the niche, floor, ceiling and outside of the shower. A linear mosaic from floor to ceiling and a large format tile installed vertically on the walls. The shower fixtures used in this shower were a ceiling-mounted rainfall shower and a handheld shower sprayer.

The potential in a historic 1930’s Royal Oak home with an abundance of original details is endless. Combine that with a client with a deep love for traditional Chinoiserie style and whimsical details and the result can only be stunning. Such is the case in the upholstery pieces and window treatments in this living room. Each piece in the space was hand selected to not only complement the gorgeous historical features of the home - such as the original herringbone flooring, plaster crown molding, ceiling medallion and fireplace - but also infuse the space with the whimsical, layered motifs and textures that are typical of the European interpretation of Chinoiserie style. The teal and white fabrics seen in the window treatments and accent chairs are reminiscent of the traditional blue and white patterns of chinoiserie but also tie the teal detailing of original stained glass windows and inlays on the original stone flooring. The inspiration for the palette comes from the chinoiserie mural on the back wall of the dining room with a blush backdrop that has been reinterpreted into modern silhouettes and patterns on the sofa pillows and swivel chairs that provide a playful juxtaposition to the traditional lines throughout the rest of the space.

Tamara Heather Interior Design solved the challenge of where to put the televison in this 1920's home, by designing a custom Arts and Crafts style TV/media cabinet that acts as a room divider and defines the entry. This project showcases thoughtful design at every level. Beneath the basement stairs, what's typically wasted space was transformed into a cozy reading nook—a small sanctuary for dreaming, reading, and relaxing. Above, the staircase itself features clean, minimalist design: red oak handrails and treads paired with white-painted square balusters. A young girl's bedroom needed a full makeover. Her mother did not like traditional pinks and purples for a girls' room so we selected a gorgeous teal and white wallcovering and matching drapery fabric. Accents of pink and magenta were sprinkled through the room. A custom built-in desk and shelves were added to a nook. The furniture was all existing pieces from our client's grandmother and were very meaningful to her. We sent the furniture to be reupholstered and refinished for a completely new look. New kitchen and dining room with a deck. This was a typical small 2 story brick home in Bethesda with a walk out basement. The back faced south but there were very few windows making it dark inside. We added a 3 story addition to the back for a new master suite, new kitchen and dining room and a new play room on the lower level. We also added a large deck off the kitchen and a deck off the master bedroom. The new south facing windows heat the house in the winter and the balcony and overhang shades the windows in the summer. The most dramatic feature of this addition is the new stainless steel stair and the new structural steel that replaced the original brick wall. This is a classic example of passive solar design.

Several pictures of Pro Dunk Silver Basketball System were taken in Orland Hills, Illinois. Tom have two sons, age 13 and 10 and purchased the hoop for them to practice. Over the past year, their basketball skills have improved significantly and more importantly the Pro Dunk gives their family the opportunity to play together. The dimensions of the playing area on their driveway are 35' x 18'. This is a Pro Dunk Silver Basketball System that was purchased in February of 2012.
