This stunning glass enclosed modern custom wine cellar was designed and installed by Vintage Cellars earlier this year. The Contemporary Custom Wine Room was fitted into an existing fireplace space, turning the visually unappealing sore thumb of the room into a magnificent show stopping centerpiece. This modern luxury condo on the 31st floor in a downtown San Diego high-rise acted as a very interesting project for the custom wine cellar design team at Vintage Cellars. The modern wine room space has dual paned, insulated glass but because of the nature of glass itself, the cooling unit was recommended to be oversized. The custom wine room space itself didn't have great options for venting the cooling unit due to the location on the 31st floor. The best option to vent was determined to treat the wine room as a wine cabinet, per se. The Cooling Unit, a CellarPro 1800 XTS, was placed in the ceiling, venting down cool air and circulating vented air back upward. The result works perfectly for a uniquely modern and contemporary space such as this. This fully enclosed, glass front custom wine cellar boasts a 300 bottle capacity with a sleek, modern, label forward feel that ULTRA Wine Peg racking is known for. The center section is a double stacked full reveal display row, showcasing some of the homeowner's finer wines. Though no particular space was made within the wine racking area, the design of this modern custom wine cellar was pushed back a couple of feet so that wine case storage could be an option between the glass front and the custom racking. Additionally, the clean feel goes even further upon looking for the entrance into this wine cellar. The flat panel on the furthest left side opens slowly and almost magically when pushed in slightly. We love the darker tones of the mosaic tilework repeated in the cabinet finish color, the jewel tones in the window treatment, the tilework that leads the eye upward in the shower area, and the touches of bling in the fixtures, mirror and side table.

A space for entertaining with a dual fireplace as a centerpiece. It is two separate fireplaces combined into one structure. The common brick of the fireplace, seat walls, and piers was painted to match the home and maintain the historic feel of the property. The capping all around is Indiana limestone, as is the hardscaped floor and stair treads. The floor pattern is a 45 degree diamond with cabochon inlay of round bluestone. Each transition or entry to the hardscaped space is flanked by short piers. Tupleo and sargent crabapple are specimens just outside the living space in the background with judd viburnum in the foreground flanking the piers. The goal for this master suite was to replace a dated, heavy layout with a sense of "Warm Minimalism." We wanted to trade visual clutter for intentional textures. By pairing the natural grain of White Oak with the crisp, architectural lines of Matte Black fixtures, we created a space that feels grounded, airy, and deeply restorative. We took absolute ownership of the "inch-by-inch" planning required to expand the shower and incorporate a freestanding soaking tub without making the room feel crowded. The original house, built in the early 18th century, was moved to this location two hundred years later. This whole house project includes an outdoor stage, a library, two barns, an exercise complex and extensive landscaping with tennis court and pools. A new stair winds upward to the study built as a widow's walk on the roof. A large window provides a view to the sea-wall at the bottom of the garden and Buzzard's Bay beyond. The new stair allows views from the central front hall into the Living Room, which spans the waterside. The bluestone-edged swimming pool and hot pool merge with the landscape, creating the illusion that the pool and the sea are continuous.
