Client Objectives
The homeowner wanted to improve the functionality of an existing galley kitchen that felt cramped and inefficient. The refrigerator occupied valuable circulation space, limiting movement and workflow while cooking. Additional goals included increasing storage, incorporating a dedicated coffee station, maximizing organization, and creating a more efficient layout without sacrificing the character of the home.
Our Solution
We developed a kitchen redesign focused on improving circulation, storage, and usability. By relocating the refrigerator and exploring custom built-in solutions, the layout creates a more open and functional workspace. Dedicated storage features like, open shelving and more cabinetry, help keep countertops clutter-free while supporting the homeowner’s daily routines.
Special Features
Relocated refrigerator for improved traffic flow, coffee bar area, expanded storage solutions, drawer-focused cabinetry, updated cabinetry, and improved organization throughout the kitchen.

This client approached us with a request to remodel their home to better accommodate their
needs related to a recent amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis, also known as Lou
Gehrig’s disease–a condition that can lead to various physical challenges, including mobility
issues, fatigue, and diffi culty with manual tasks. Recognizing the impact of these challenges on
daily living, the client sought our expertise to make their home more accessible and functional.
The project involved a signifi cant redesign of their three-story home, including the installation
of an elevator to provide seamless access across all fl oors, and a complete remodel of the
Primary Bathroom and Bedroom to enhance usability and comfort. This redesign was driven by
the objective to support the client’s independence and improve their quality of life. Knowing
that the client would receive assistance through the Veteran Affairs Special Adaptive Housing
Program, our Team needed to include additional documentation for this project.

The objective was to create a warm neutral space to later customize to a specific colour palate/preference of the end user for this new construction home being built to sell. A high-end contemporary feel was requested to attract buyers in the area. An impressive kitchen that exuded high class and made an impact on guests as they entered the home, without being overbearing. The space offers an appealing open floorplan conducive to entertaining with indoor-outdoor flow.
Due to the spec nature of this house, the home had to remain appealing to the builder, while keeping a broad audience of potential buyers in mind. The challenge lay in creating a unique look, with visually interesting materials and finishes, while not being so unique that potential owners couldn’t envision making it their own. The focus on key elements elevates the look, while other features blend and offer support to these striking components. As the home was built for sale, profitability was important; materials were sourced at best value, while retaining high-end appeal. Adaptations to the home’s original design plan improve flow and usability within the kitchen-greatroom. The client desired a rich dark finish. The chosen colours tie the kitchen to the rest of the home (creating unity as combination, colours and materials, is repeated throughout).
