Inspiration for a mid-sized eclectic home design remodel in New York

The kitchen is open to the family room and has a wall of glass facing the outside. It features a wonderful Robin Wade live-edge-eat island. The state-of-the-art appliances are from Sub-Zero and Wolf. A hidden door disguises a full walk-in pantry. Kitchens supplied the modern gloss and glass cabinets. An elevator provides easy access to the roof terrace. The wine coolers and wine storage room separates and flows into the dining area.

This kitchen needed a facelift. The existing cherry cabinets were painted Valspar's "Safari Brown." The laminate countertops were replaced with Cambria's "Bradshaw" quartz. New linear hardware was added and a cut stone backsplash adds a fresh rustic look. The desk area features a cork backsplash (from remnants of cork flooring.)
Other updates include LED undercabinet lighting on a motion timer, integrated USB chargers in the outlets and upper cabinet lighting with frosted glass.

This busy family, with a house full of kids, dogs, and cats, needed a landing place for everyone as they arrived home, and the cramped entry hall was no longer working.
A mudroom was designed with custom cabinets, including lockers and an island, to create a storage system for the family, and as importantly a place to hang out, do homework, and art projects.
Lockers were built for each member of the family, complete with shoe storage, charging stations for computers, and basket storage above. A central island has 4 stools to sit for homework, art or snacktime, and houses drawers for each of the kids to drop their keys, with a USB charger for phones and iPads.

Great thought was put into making the kitchen a chic and spacious area that would function both for family breakfasts and evening entertaining, with custom cherry cabinets, a large curved island and glass accented backsplash. The previous layout felt cramped, blocked the view, and guests and kids had to walk through the prep area. The new location of the kitchen allows for a commanding view of the family room fireplace and the water.

A desk area was built for Mom to be able to work from home, with a tower that houses the printer, router and other computer items behind closed doors, and filing cabinets below to keep everything close at hand.
This space also accommodates a washer and dryer with drying rack above tucked neatly out of site.
