This was a detailed exterior and interior restoration of an 1894 Victorian originally designed by influential architect and developer Joseph Leonard. Saikley Architects and Buestad Construction worked closely with the clients to uncover evidence of original exterior and interior details that had been removed and recreate them. We chose to spray much of the trim so masked adjacent surfaces carefully - when our work is complete we will also remove existing, hundred year old paint drips visible on some of the roof slate. We chose to spray for efficiency and economy - a spray applied finish will leave behind a more uniform coating - uniform in color coverage as well as paint coating depth - . This approach also saved us time and therefore the owners money.

The addition from the side. I tried to stay with the big gables that really show off the house. The little curved eyebrow roof over the door was a fun thing.

The full exterior view places the red porch entrance within the home’s tall Victorian-style brick facade and pointed gables. Dark trim connects the small entry canopy to the surrounding windows and roof details, showing how the refreshed porch fits the scale and character of the house. "After" condition - nearly completed exterior renovations. All original wood clapboard siding, eaves and rafters, window frames and sills exposed and repaired. New aluminum clad wood windows inserted into existing framed openings. Future work will include additional siding repairs for rear portion, revisions to side porch, newly-fabricated wood shutters, new painting throughout.
