An existing daylit but partially subterranean space. With the every evolving dynamics of Covid-19 affecting work from home and general commercial office space. Our client decided to decentralize their office space and have all employees work from home. The clients home office required a space to host employees, video conference, record podcasts, have clients visit along other amenities like a kitchenette and bathroom for day use. The space was designed to easily be converted to an ADU in the future as well. The space being underground and surrounded by 8" thick of concrete acoustics and thermal comfort were paramount for the client to do their work affectively. We designed an acoustic system to make the space comfortable enough to host pod casts, be on video conferencing and adjust natural daylight for optimal views and lighting. The project was quite challenging navigating budget, schedule and exterior waterproofing but the design team prevailed and created a beautiful space for the client. This clean Japanese Modern style interior connects the client with incredible views beyond the west hills of Portland and with the surrounding forested site.

We renovated the master bathroom, the kids' en suite bathroom, and the basement in this modern home in West Chester, PA. The bathrooms as very sleek and modern, with flat panel, high gloss cabinetry, white quartz counters, and gray porcelain tile floors. The basement features a main living area with a play area and a wet bar, an exercise room, a home theatre and a bathroom. These areas, too, are sleek and modern with gray laminate flooring, unique lighting, and a gray and white color palette that ties the area together. This Murphy bed was custom made off-site and installed in the home. There were space restrictions for the bed and it was tucked in nicely behind and between 2 windows. The lights shut off automatically when the bed is closed and are controlled bedside. There is an plug for phone on the in-set shelves which are deep enough for videos, books and such. The vintage house trim was wrapped around the bed for a built in look. This option is so much less expensive than adding on to a home and can provide you with a multi-function room for guests and your own daily use.

This is a really nice small natural pool and spa combo that was designed by Mike Farley. It has a raised spa with a Oklahoma flagstone stair stepped spillway. The moss rock was used as a boulder coping that includes 2 water lines to give the project a nice organic feel. The paving is a heavy stone texture "Latte". The clients had just bought the home and loved the inside but not the outside. They did not want the formal setting with Greek busts. Since remodeling the old pool would have restricted the new, they had it removed so they could start from scratch. Their favorite setting was much more organic with a cabana, fireplace, and an outdoor kitchen. The house needed an addition with an entertainment media room, cigar room and pool bath. Privacy was achieved by adding a cabana on the north side with a full stone wall. The spa needed to be close to the master bedroom and have visibility of the flat screen television in the cabana. The spa is flush with the upper patio so not to block the view of the pool. A natural boulder stream connects the pool and spa. To soften the house planting is between the cabana and house. Decks and coping are Travertine. Pebblesheen color is Ocean Blue. Access to the cabana was located between the spa and the pool on the floating pad. Remote controlled fire features accent both ends of the boulders. Retaining walls were built behind the waterfall to bring the grade up so plantings looked more natural and waterfalls appeared to come out of the hillside. The cabana features were to create three zones. It does not matter the season or time of day, this space provides the family's perfect outside setting to enjoy each other. The pièce de résistance of the TBD Advertising Agency in downtown Bend, Oregon was made of 100-year old timbers found in the basement of the original building built on the same site as this business. This Reclaimed Wood Built in Bookcase was inspired by the video game Tetris and measures 9 feet high and 12 feet long. Ron Brown co-created this with Pauly Anderson (Captain Possible).
