My clients wanted insulating honeycomb shades on most of the windows in their home. Hunter Douglas Duette Architella honeycomb shades are among the most insulating shades in the industry. They wanted PowerView automation. My installer, Mike LeGault helped them set up scenes on apps on their telephones so that the shades in each room open and close when they want them to. Two of the windows are Palladium windows (arched) and a company which specializes in fabricating shades for specialty windows is fabricating shades for these two windows in the same fabric as the others. These will also be automated.

This full featured, sleek and compact pool, has it all! This stunning view is set off with soothing reflections on the water's surface. We do this utilizing a black, pebble plaster finish and smooth water flow. A cool marble patio with clean, green turf complete this living space. We fully automate a spacious spa, swim jets from Badu, color changing LEDs, dual heat and cool and of course, silky salt water with OmniLogic from Hayward. An easy to maintain classic landscaping surrounds the patio and pool. This pool was built with 3 water features- with an easy to use remote or app on your phone to turn on and off the spigots. This water feature makes a wonderful play area in the pool, a spotlight for the tile, and can help circulate the water as well!

This beautiful Craftsman style Passive House has a carbon footprint 20% that of a typically built home in Oregon. Its 12-in. thick walls with cork insulation, ultra-high efficiency windows and doors, solar panels, heat pump hot water, Energy Star appliances, fresh air intake unit, and natural daylighting keep its utility bills exceptionally low. This was a new construction project and the we did this in rich cherry kaffe colored doors for the main kitchen and canvas glazed cabinets for the island.

The entire south wall of the kitchen was opened up to connect it to the dining room and give the cook the opportunity to enjoy expansive views of downtown Portland through the dining room windows. A new stainless vent hood and range were added plus a wine fridge and custom penninsula. Photos by Photo Art Portraits

The vignette within Barrett Technology’s Design Center is one of its kind in the industry. Built to inspire and inform, this kitchen showcases today’s most innovative solutions in real world settings. All the technology (video, audio, lighting, security and HVAC) is controlled through a single app on the iPad. Even the motorized window shades, task & accent lighting are controlled via the Lutron Lighting Control System. It allows for lighting scene selection at the touch of a single button – including a “Cook” scene which when pressed will activate the lighting to an optimal 100% over the kitchen sink & island areas and will also drop the motorized spice rack from behind the wall cabinet. Project specs: Thermador appliances, Caesarstone countertops in honed Pebble. Single app control system by Savant. Photographer - Bruce Van Inwegen

Open concept wins again! This kitchen features natural stained wood floors throughout, along with black cabinets and sueded, YES! Sueded countertops. The client also desired a smart kitchen, so we made it happen. All of the appliances can be either started or monitored via the manufacturers smartphone app. As to not block the view into the family room, we opted for these nearly invisible glass globe pendants to keep the line of sight clean and as clear as possible. We went simple with the back splash, white oversized subway tile with black grout, allowing these black cabinets to stand out as the highlight of this kitchen. Did I mention the countertops are sueded?
