Kitchen - kitchen idea in Salt Lake City

A full bottle of vinegar fell out of the refrigerator and the homeowner was not physically able to clean it up for hours, resulting in terrible etching and discoloration of the marble floor. I didn't take any before pictures, thinking even we would not be able to repair the damaged areas. Much to my surprise, not only did we get out all the etching but restored the original color as well! The floor is beautiful once again just like it never happened. We were able to save the homeowner thousands of $$$ in tearing up and replacing the marble kitchen floor.

In addition to the pantry, we assessed the clients condiments and spices. Here we used the clear divided turntables for salts on one shelf and oils/vinegars on higher shelf.

Since I could not hang anything on this wall (fridge opens to it), Dan made a niche for me for my oils, vinegars, salad dressings, and of course my cute little collectibles! Custom made X panel on island end with inset pecky cypress.

The mixture of grey green cabinets with the distressed wood floors and ceilings, gives this farmhouse kitchen a feeling of warmth. Cabinets: Brookhaven and the color is Green Stone Benjamin Moore paint color: There's not an exact match for Green Stone, but Gettysburg Grey, HC 107 is close. Sink: Krauss, model KHF200-30, stainless steel Faucet: Kraus, modelKPF-1602 Hardware: Restoration hardware, Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron. Floors: European Oak that is wired brushed. The company is Provenza, Pompeii collection and the color is Amiata. Distressed wood: The wood is cedar that's been treated to look distressed! My client is brilliant , so he did some googling (is that a word?) and came across several sites that had a recipe to do just that. He put a steel wool pad into a jar of vinegar and let it sit for a bit. In another jar, he mixed black tea with water. Brush the tea on first and let it dry. Then brush on the steel wool/vinegar (don't forget to strain the wool). Voila, the wood turns dark. Andrew McKinney Photography

This expansive Victorian had tremendous historic charm but hadn’t seen a kitchen renovation since the 1950s. The homeowners wanted to take advantage of their views of the backyard and raised the roof and pushed the kitchen into the back of the house, where expansive windows could allow southern light into the kitchen all day. A warm historic gray/beige was chosen for the cabinetry, which was contrasted with character oak cabinetry on the appliance wall and bar in a modern chevron detail. This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The master bathroom features a stone slab shower floor and shower wall. The dark stone slab is balanced with a light matte concrete wall above it. The floor of the bathroom is reclaimed wide plank flooring in a Chevron pattern. The fixtures are wall mount fixtures from lefroy brooks. Inspiration for a coastal kitchen remodel in San Francisco

Major renovation to a beautiful old Victorian outside of Boston. We opened up the kitchen to expose the original pantry, restored the old wood cabinets and painted the interiors a beautiful shade of navy blue. Exposed brick and added on a much needed mudroom and new entry to the kitchen, we were able to expose the back stair case and added batten and board on the walls. Beautiful.

This project features an integrated flip out bed (called a shikibuton) underneath an integrated workspace. As one of the homeowners put it - its just comfortable enough for people to stay one or two nights, but not so comfortable that they feel the need to move in. © Joe Fletcher Photography
