Cape Cod; Dennis, MA The central feature is the kitchen island with its dark, contrasting countertop and traditional turned legs, providing a classic farmhouse aesthetic. Paired with the island are three natural-wood bar stools with woven cane seats, which add warmth and texture to the room. The stools are perfectly positioned for casual dining or conversation. The kitchen's cabinetry is a clean, classic off white shaker style that extends to the refrigerator and a built-in wine cooler, creating a seamless and integrated look. The ceiling design varies, with one section featuring traditional beadboard paneling, a common coastal design element, adding depth and visual interest. Two polished metal pendant lights hang over the island, providing focused task lighting and a touch of modern sophistication. Natural light pours into the space from a large window above the sink, which is flanked by simple white countertops and a backsplash. A vase of fresh green flowers on the island and a wine bottle hint at the room's use for entertaining and everyday living. The warm, wood floors complete the space, tying the natural elements together and grounding the bright, off white design.

APD was hired to update the primary bathroom and laundry room of this ranch style family home. Included was a request to add a powder bathroom where one previously did not exist to help ease the chaos for the young family. The design team took a little space here and a little space there, coming up with a reconfigured layout including an enlarged primary bathroom with large walk-in shower, a jewel box powder bath, and a refreshed laundry room including a dog bath for the family’s four legged member!

This builder-house was purchased by a young couple with high taste and style. In order to personalize and elevate it, each room was given special attention down to the smallest details. Inspiration was gathered from multiple European influences, especially French style. The outcome was a home that makes you never want to leave.

This spa like master bath was transformed into an eye catching oasis featuring a marble patterned accent wall, freestanding tub and spacious corner shower. His and hers vanities face one another, while the toilet is tucked away in a separate water closet. The beaded chandelier over the tub serves as a beautiful focal point and accents the curved picture window that floods the bath with natural light.

Moody Elegance: A Warm and Inviting Forest Green Kitchen & Mudroom Step into a home that perfectly blends elegance and functionality with a sophisticated palette. Forest green cabinetry sets the stage for a space that feels both moody and welcoming, while thoughtfully placed accents infuse it with a touch of transitional charm. Warm and Inviting Details: Natural wood accents, like a wood butcher block in the kitchen, built-in bench or floating shelves, balance the deep green and bring warmth to the space. This combination creates an inviting atmosphere perfect for busy comings and goings. Pops of Color: Accents like decorative pillows, a vase of fresh flowers, or colorful storage baskets add subtle splashes of color to contrast with the cabinetry and liven up the space. These touches make the mudroom feel more personalized and engaging. Elegant Hardware: Brass or matte gold hardware lends an upscale touch, elevating the design and enhancing the warmth of the forest green cabinetry. Functional and Stylish Flooring: Rich walnut wood floor in to add visual interest and a sense of luxury, without overpowering the cabinetry. Lighting That Glows: Layered lighting, such as a statement pendant light or recessed LED strips, casts a warm glow throughout the space, enhancing its welcoming feel while maintaining a moody, elegant ambiance. This moody yet warm design is perfectly balanced sophistication with practicality. With its elegant forest green cabinetry, pops of color, and transitional elements, it becomes more than just a functional space—it becomes an extension of your home’s refined style.

Making the Most of a Small Footprint We maximized the room’s small footprint by designing a custom built-in bed, nightstands, and desk. We then added visual interest and sound dampening with the acoustic slat walls. The end result is a guest suite as beautiful and luxurious as the finest hotels. The three-level Mediterranean revival home started as a 1930s summer cottage that expanded downward and upward over time. We used a clean, crisp white wall plaster with bronze hardware throughout the interiors to give the house continuity. A neutral color palette and minimalist furnishings create a sense of calm restraint. Subtle and nuanced textures and variations in tints add visual interest. The stair risers from the living room to the primary suite are hand-painted terra cotta tile in gray and off-white. We used the same tile resource in the kitchen for the island's toe kick.

The kitchen is designed for two serious home chefs who often entertain guests for dinner parties. Merging the kitchen and dining room into a singular space was a strategic design decision to both foster their style of ‘chefs table’ entertaining, and also make the most efficient use of valuable floor space - a common consideration in most Toronto homes. The table becomes an island-like surface for additional prep space, and also as the surface upon which the meal is eventually enjoyed.
