This Iconic Spanish Colonial stunner has been home to both a silent film star and a legendary rock music star. It was in dire need of a creative eye----caught in a time warp spanning 1924 to 1979. Old Hollywood glamour, Italian modernism, and a focus on artisanal touches served as a jumping-off point for this project which included the complete gutting and redesign of 5 bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room, and the separate attached recording studio.

These homeowners needed a stylish, yet practical solution for adding privacy to their small bathroom window. Due to the small window size and high priority on privacy, they choose a composite wood, 2.5 inch louver size and a split tilt design. The split tilt allows the bottom half of the shutter to close while leaving the top open for light. By selecting composite wood, the humid and damp nature of the bathroom will not warp or distort the shutters, making them the perfect choice.

Makarios Decor specializes in wood slabs. We let them air dry for 1-2 years and then send them to the kiln to commercially dry. This assures that they will not warp or crack in your environment. We plane them and sand them down to a smooth, fine finish. Then we stain them to your choice of color and add a clear coat to protect the wood for many, many years.
