What was once a dark, gloomy dining space, has now blossomed into an elegant, glowing dining area. The rich mahogany wood flooring, deep brown shutters, dining table, and buffet were existing to the home prior the K. Rue Designs revamp. These pieces truly shine now with a few adjustments. The chair molding from before was hardly eligible for the title at only 30 inches above the finished floor and was simply painted wood trim pieces adhered to the drywall... To emphasize the grandeur qualities of this home, a 36 inch tall wainscoting was applied to this area and taller baseboards follow through the lower level of the home. For a little depth, grasscloth wallpaper stands above the chair molding. Stunning skirted dining chairs wrap around the existing dining table and contrast with the light area rug. Accentuating the bold shutters are light gold draperies hanging by single rosettes on each side, that puddle to the floor for some drama. The secret weapon for this illuminated dining space are the two 150 watt lamps on the buffet. Even when the lamps are in the off position, the metallic shades are a great detail.

This is an authentic 1853 British Arms civil war musket in amazing condition. The gun was made in England and has the British Arms seal clearly stamped along with other markings. The gun was sold to both the Union army and the Confederate army. Based on the condition of the gun it appears that it may have been used by the Confederate Navy as most infantry muskets are badly worn. This musket is pristine. This weapon was given to my father in the mid 1960's by a 92 year old man who was our next door neighbor at the time. His last name was Sather. I researched the name Sather in the Civil War registry and there were a couple of names that were a possible match but both were Union Army Soldiers. So, the mystery behind the history and story of the gun is currently unsolved.
The barn wood was from a horse barn that was built in 1890 in Orfordville, WI I took the barn down and saved all the wood and some of the beams. The barn is pictured below the stock of the gun. Three sides of the barn are now nailed to the wall in our lower level. Nothing was done to the wood except cleaning up the edges so they would lay flat on top of each other. It was quite the project but it looks amazing in our lower level

The Handbook for Travelers in India, Burma and Ceylon Edition 1874, carries extensive instructions for the minimum amount of clothing, weapons, tents and food needed for an extensive voyage in the tropics. Boxes, trunks and chests were packed and hauled on exploration, hunting, or military expeditions that traversed mountains and deserts. Documents, books and libraries, games and tables, folding chairs and exquisite foods from purveyors to the Queen were taken along. All this had to be packed and unpacked every single day. The design and manufacture of furniture fitting all these conditions and ways of travel was both an art and a science. In the rich tradition of 19th C. furniture makers who supplied furniture to all corners of the Empire, AM has developed a system of stackable units that can be filled and used in different ways. Units can be arranged in single stacks, or to fill an entire wall. They can section off one part of a room, as both front and back are finished. Always practical, decorative and never boring. Exquisitely finished, made from solid cherry, maple and birch, these brass bound units will survive centuries and fill both grown-up and kid's spaces in any way needed.

Lisa Gebhart of Reico Kitchen and Bath in King of Prussia, PA collaborated with Bowman Walker to design a transitional-inspired beach house kitchen featuring Merillat Classic cabinetry in the Portrait door style. The kitchen's perimeter cabinets are in the Boardwalk finish, while the island cabinets are in the Basalt finish. The countertops are Hanstone Montauk quartz. Appliances were provided by others.
The client expressed their gratitude, stating, "Everything about working with Lisa was amazing, she was my secret weapon to the compliments I received in construction mode. Her kitchen design suggestions worked with our budget and transitional beach house design."
"The best suggestion Lisa gave was to follow my instincts. She didn’t always agree with me, but she kindly offered an alternative and was always right! My favorite part of the kitchen is the custom hood and island cabinets. Well done!"
Lisa added, "The clients, along with their builder, were all such a pleasure to work with! We worked together on selections and designs for many months and through several revisions and finally got to a place where it was able to exceed their expectations. Building a whole house can be challenging, but I believe their final selections and designs will make them happy for years to come."
