Meet Marta Herbert Marta comes to Star Furniture from the mountains and valleys of the West where she specialized in turning apartments into lofts, cabins into lodges and houses into estates. From cozy, to chic, to expansive, Marta's fluency with color, texture, and lighting in perfect balance is a gift first noted by professors at The American River College in Sacramento, and has evolved over the past three decades into the ability to translate the desires of her clients into classic statements of style. As an avid student of design and proponent of continuing education, Marta has remained at the forefront of her profession gathering broad knowledge about exotic woods, fabrics, fine carpets, and the vast assortment of leathers. She understands the elements needed to create personal spaces that welcome use. "Let me bring your vision of your room to life...it's not just a room, it's the place you want to live." Set in Montana's tranquil Shields River Valley, the Shilo Ranch Compound is a collection of structures that were specifically built on a relatively smaller scale, to maximize efficiency. The main house has two bedrooms, a living area, dining and kitchen, bath and adjacent greenhouse, while two guest homes within the compound can sleep a total of 12 friends and family. There's also a common gathering hall, for dinners, games, and time together. The overall feel here is of sophisticated simplicity, with plaster walls, concrete and wood floors, and weathered boards for exteriors. The placement of each building was considered closely when envisioning how people would move through the property, based on anticipated needs and interests. Sustainability and consumption was also taken into consideration, as evidenced by the photovoltaic panels on roof of the garage, and the capability to shut down any of the compound's buildings when not in use.

Meet Lucia Gentry Lucia joined the Star family back in December of 1987; assisting guests with their design and furniture needs. She has seen many furniture styles and decorating trends come and go, not to mention how the Houston and Galveston county landscape has changed. She believes there is no "one right answer" to designing a room. Every project has its challenges and every client has different needs, likes, lifestyles and budgets. "I want my clients to enjoy their spaces functionally and aesthetically." "Big project, small project, need everything yesterday or long-term project; not a problem. It's always great to assist the guests I have had for many years and exciting to meet new ones that I hope to see in the coming years."
