The home, designed for an avid sailor, seeks to be compact and efficient like a well-crafted sailboat. It is organized around the idea of a “light box.” This is expressed by a clerestory and light well that expand the spatial volume, engage the sky, and bring landscape into the center of the home. As one light box pushes up the other pushes down to create a dynamic exchange of interior and exterior environments that fill the primary living spaces with daylight and intimacy. Through special opportunities in the zoning code, the clerestory breaks the boundaries of the reduced height limit to introduce spatial variation.

So I know I said that Office 01 was one of my favorite offices at Cedar Counseling & Wellness, but Office 07 IS hands-down my favorite. Moody, modern and masculine… I definitely wouldn’t mind working here every day! When it came to the design, Carrie really invested in professional, quality pieces - and you can tell. They really stand out on their own, allowing us to keep the design clean and minimal.

The primary bathroom’s grounding charcoal palette contributes to a spa like experience. The Pietra Grey marble used in the shower and vanity carries over into the window casings. A steam shower custom designed with Pietra Grey marble features a folding teak bench to maximize space when not in use. Rounded edges soften the look and nod to the arched windows and doorways.

A simple entryway lets hand made sconces by artist David Wiseman shine. Decorating the table top is a delicate crystal 20 karat yellow gold hand painted Baccarat butterfly sculpture. A slim entry table by a local craftsperson provides space enough space for entry odds and ends, without allowing clutter to accumulate. David Wiseman geranium sconces are the first work of art you see when entering the home, and offer a moment of beauty and appreciation before continuing deeper into the house.

This Toronto landscape design transforms a prominent Lawrence Park South heritage home into a private at-home spa and wellness retreat, recognized as a multiple award-winning Toronto landscape, including a National Award of Excellence. The design unfolds as an intentional sensorial journey, guiding you to a lower-level terrace anchored by a plunge pool, falling water feature, sun deck, fire feature, and outdoor kitchen bar. Each element is carefully positioned to support relaxation, restoration, and effortless entertaining. Blending the character of Old Toronto with contemporary materials and detailing, this multi-faceted backyard transitions seamlessly from a productive home-office to an inviting entertaining space, and ultimately into a restorative outdoor spa experience. The result is a layered, immersive landscape that supports daily wellness while elevating urban outdoor living.

The opposite wall in the living room features a wet bar that includes two full-sized wine refrigerators, sink, storage cabinets, and shelving, as well as plenty of open floor space to entertain. The tall dark blue painted cabinetry helps to visually balance the room, as a large, bold design element opposite the fireplace wall. The inlaid brass detail on the cabinet doors adds a touch of glamour to this more formal space. The focal point of the wet bar is the illuminated book-matched marble backsplash with custom floating brass and glass shelves.
