Philadelphia Row Home Renovation focusing on maximizing storage for a young family of 5. We created a "mudroom" in the front of the row home with a large living room space for family time + hosting. We used kid-friendly furnishings with performance fabrics that are durable and easy to clean. Prioritized eco-friendly selections, utilizing locally sourced + American made pieces.

The homeowners envisioned a space that felt expressive, personal, and full of energy - something that reflected their creativity and willingness to make bold design choices.

The storage in this island is literally limitless. I love Kortney's willingness to go after paint colors for cabinets that is not the standard white or gray. The blue base cabinets and gray uppers look amazing in this kitchen.

It’s first impression was memorable as immediately after entering the front door, just past the dining table, there was a tree growing in the middle of home! Upon further inspection of the space it became apparent that this home had undergone several alterations during its lifetime... The homeowners unabashedness towards colour and willingness to embrace the home’s mid-century architecture made this home one of a kind. The existing T&G cedar ceiling, dropped beams, and ample glazing naturally leant itself to a mid-century space.

Design Goal: Create an office space that fills this forensic accountant’s clients with the confidence that she has everything under control. As clients most likely are in a stressful situation when they visit, this small office must put them at ease and instill a sense of calm. The decor must convey friendly professionalism, efficiency, strong leadership, an atmosphere of trust and a willingness to help.

This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house. George Mendel

Between the expertise of IKD’s design team and Liv’s willingness to go with the flow, solving the design challenges for this 1930s kitchen was a snap.

The Client asked me to design a poolscape that connected the outside to the inside. The challenge was to terrace the 10' of grade change in a comfortable fashion. I set the pool elevation half way between the kitchen and the lower yard where there is a walk out basement. Off of the kitchen I designed a dining patio which overlooks the pool. About 1100 sf of pool decking surrounds the pool area. I had fieldstone walls built to not only retain the grade but to also serve as a couple of sitting walls and places to put towels. I appreciate the client's trust in my abilities and their willingness to let me use my creativity to its fullest.
