The award-winning, 6,500 square-foot terrace of the Midtown Manhattan Sky Garden takes advantage of panoramic skyline views while providing an intimate garden backdrop to the mid-century-modern building’s newly-renovated interior workspace. Richly textured and seasonally diverse plantings include a dense blanket of drought-tolerant prairie grasses, wildflower perennials, and spring flowering bulbs, punctuated by flowering Crab Apple trees. At twilight, the garden evolves into a subtle stage set of textured plantings, rustling softly against the glow of a frosted glass parapet rail—a soothing space where workers can escape the conference room or the electrifying noise of the dense urban environment. Inspiration for a timeless home design remodel in Other

Helene Terry is an award winning Kitchen Design Specialist. She works with homeowners and designers to create a kitchen space that uses every square inch of area available. Her superb planning ability transforms the kitchen into functional, useable space that flows and performs. She creates detailed drawings, floor plans and perspectives to communicate the new design to all trades and principals. The owner of this beautiful blue kitchen had a great sense of style This a custom remodel that included the demolition of 3 walls and the relocation of the central island. You'll note the focal point of the new island which has two (2) Miele dishwashers, a Sub Zero icemaker and various custom recycling and pull out bins. There is seasonal storage for dishes in front of the barstools. Spacious walkways between wall counters and island of 41"-48" allow 2 cooks to move easily. There are 2 sinks in the island at right angles to facilitate conversation. On the side walls, custom cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. The custom color and glaze is from Benjamin Moore and was specified by the Interior Designer, Charlotte Comer. Flanking the Wolf 36" range and built into the wall are two appliance garages with concealed electrical outlets. One garage houses the owner's blender and pulls out on a tray. The other one houses spices. The Sub-Zero integrated refrigerator with glass door is 36" wide. There are other integrated refrigerator drawers as well. The Vent Hood is from Best with a 900 cfm remote blower. There is a pot filler spout behind the range. To the left of the range is a plumbed Miele coffee maker. The backsplash is recessed with contrasting tiles inserts and bullnose trim from Antique Floors. Cabinet Hardware is from Top Knob. The flooring is a Silver Travertine from Porcelanosa laid on a straight stack. The counter top is Carerra Marble from Aria Stone fabricated by Holland Marble. The microwave and additional appliances garages are concealed behind the range wall in a former under stairway pantry. This space acts as a second staging area for large dinner parties and to conceal frequently used appliances.

The homeowners started by hiring an architect to develop a vision and plan for transforming their very traditional brick home into a contemporary family home full of modern updates. The Kitchen Studio of Glen Ellyn was hired to provide kitchen design expertise and to bring the vision to life. The bamboo cabinetry and white Ceasarstone countertops provide contrast that pops while the white oak floors and limestone tile bring warmth to the space. A large island houses a Galley Sink which provides a multi-functional work surface fantastic for summer entertaining. And speaking of summer entertaining, a new Nana Wall system — a large glass wall system that creates a large exterior opening and can literally be opened and closed with one finger – brings the outdoor in and creates a very unique flavor to the space. Matching bamboo cabinetry and panels were also installed in the adjoining family room, along with aluminum doors with frosted glass and a repeat of the limestone at the newly designed fireplace. This Modern English home has history! Passed down through family inheritance, it hadn’t been truly updated since 1965. Lucky us that we met Vince & Angelica after they searched for just the right design team! The inspiration for this now elegant home started with their award winning backyard garden and koi pond. Like their landscaping, elegance and details now abound throughout the interior of this home also! Every surface was transformed to create a ‘new’ old world charm. Double saturated shadowbox, unique wallpaper, and checkerboard tile details set the backdrop for our curated blend of furnishing and accessory elements from top to bottom. Inspiration for a contemporary kitchen remodel in Las Vegas

This award-winning kitchen remodel proves that even the smallest spaces can deliver big on charm and functionality. Designed for a passionate home cook in a 1924 home, this under-100-square-foot kitchen embraces English Cottage style with thoughtful, space-maximizing details. Our favorite feature is the custom L-shaped glass-front cabinet wrapping the chimney chase - perfect for showcasing cookbooks, canisters, and plants. The workstation sink extends usable prep space, while the two-tier cutlery drawer and drawer-within-a-drawer system keep essentials organized. Paired with brick-look porcelain tile in a herringbone pattern, this cozy, character-rich kitchen honors the home’s history while meeting every modern need.

Our client fell in love with the original 80s style of this house. However, no part of it had been updated since it was built in 1981. Both the style and structure of the home needed to be drastically updated to turn this house into our client’s dream modern home. We are also excited to announce that this renovation has transformed this 80s house into a multiple award-winning home, including a major award for Renovator of the Year from the Vancouver Island Building Excellence Awards. The original layout for this home was certainly unique. In addition, there was wall-to-wall carpeting (even in the bathroom!) and a poorly maintained exterior. There were several goals for the Modern Revival home. A new covered parking area, a more appropriate front entry, and a revised layout were all necessary. Therefore, it needed to have square footage added on as well as a complete interior renovation. One of the client’s key goals was to revive the modern 80s style that she grew up loving. Alfresco Living Design and A. Willie Design worked with Made to Last to help the client find creative solutions to their goals.

Moon Canyon is a 1930s hunting cabin in the Mount Washington neighbourhood of Los Angeles, restored by NoNo Studio with the careful, unhurried attention of someone re-potting an ancient tree. Original cedar panelling, a 1970s stained glass insert, and decades of layered character were preserved and built around rather than swept away. The project was featured in Architectural Digest, Leibal, and Vogue Australia. Three of our pieces found their place within it. The Oak Lamp — a floor lamp with a hand turned white oak base made by Surcle Wood in Los Angeles and an elephant grass shade woven by SWOPA in northern Ghana — brings two LA and Ghanaian craft traditions into a single object. The Casita Lamp, a table lamp whose ceramic base is formed by celebrated Oaxacan potter Eligio Zárate Blanco and whose palm shade is woven by award-winning weaver Belén Perez Garcia using a technique passed down through generations of her family, sits quietly in the space with the same material honesty that runs through the whole restoration. A small one-off bedside lamp completes the picture. Each piece was chosen for a home where nothing is incidental. That is precisely the kind of space our work is made for.
