Getting laundry from the top floor to the basement laundry was no easy task but we neatly hid the chute behind the custom yellow glazed cabinet doors.

Inside, the building is zoned into living and sleeping wings. The living room, kitchen, and dining spaces comprise the main area with high wood ceilings. Strategic skylights bring in patterned natural light from above to balance the south and north light. The bedroom wing is situated to be separate from the main space, and has two bedrooms plus the ‘bunk room’, which the three kids share. It has three double bunks and one loft, sleeping seven. This guest bedroom was originally a bunk room. The cypress bed is custom made for the room. Porcelian wall sconces allow for nighttime reading and built-in shelving keeps beach treasures and night reads within easy reach.

New York-based designer Clare Donohue of 121 Studio made-over this tiny, 7'x12' maid's room her client's 12-year-old daughter using space-saving furniture systems from Resource Furniture. The Kali Board wall bed with an integrated, 7-foot long desk allows this teen bedroom to instantly convert into an art studio, while modular cabinets and cubbies provides the perfect spot to stash art supplies. Bright pops of color, ample light, and a wallpapered ceiling add bespoke charm to this transforming retreat.
