Maggie Walker of Reico Kitchen and Bath in Frederick, MD, in collaboration with Tri State Home Improvement, designed multiple rooms for this project. This remodel included the kitchen, pantry, mudroom and laundry room, highlighting a transitional design style and featuring both Green Forest Cabinetry and Masterpiece Cabinetry.
The kitchen, mudroom and laundry room feature Green Forest Cabinetry in the Park Place door style with an Espresso finish.
The pantry showcases Masterpiece cabinets in the Turner door style in Maple with a Peppercorn finish.
The kitchen also includes MSI Q Peppercorn White countertops, while the pantry and laundry room feature Colonial White granite countertops.
Despite the challenges of being without a kitchen sink, laundry machines and undergoing the installation of new flooring, the clients expressed that the remodeling process was worthwhile, with beautiful results.
“The best advice Maggie gave was to take our time. We had never done a renovation or remodel and this was massive to us. She gave us time to sit with our choice and make changes. The size is the best part of the new kitchen. We went from an extremely small area to a room for a 9’ island, mudroom pantry and laundry, all with gorgeous cabinetry,” said the clients.

All Weather teamed up with the Property Brothers and Queen of Broadway Idina Menzel on this week’s episode of HGTV’s hit show CELEBRTIY IOU. In the Idina Menzel’s Slam Dunk Reno episode, Idina pivots from her award-winning stage, film and music success to give back and surprise her good friend and son’s basketball coach James, by transforming his detached garage into a dedicated office and athletic retreat.
James Hunt founded Culture Run, a youth basketball program that gives kids the skills to succeed in both basketball and life. With IDINA MENZEL’S surprise renovation, James is one step closer to running a centralized training facility and headquarters where kids can drop by for counseling, basketball tips, and more.
When the PROPERTY BROTHERS meet up with Idina to demo the garage, they involve her in every step. Menzel gets her hands dirty by swinging a sledgehammer, operating an electric hand saw and removing storage bins. “I didn’t know they get as down and dirty as they do,” Menzel commented. “I also didn’t know they were gonna have me do so much!” Menzel also helped choose the tile, cabinets, hardware, flooring and the overall color palette.
All the effort was worthwhile because Menzel was able to surprise James with the basketball hangout and showstopping of his dreams. The newly dedicated office and athletic retreat features All Weather SERIES 7000 French Swing Doors and SERIES 5000 casement and fixed windows to allow natural light and fresh air in; a sleek kitchenette with an induction cooktop; a modern bathroom with a 7 1/2′ tall shower head for basketball players; a comfortable seating area for James to review film, meet with his players or simply relax; and a unique basketball themed wall mural.

Find the right local pro for your project

This project was a special one for us. We had the pleasure of working with a lovely retired couple in their early 70s who were returning clients! It's always a testament to our work when clients come back for more. This time, they were ready to tackle a full bathroom and basement renovation to truly make their Mississauga home a haven for their golden years. Before: Outdated and Cramped Both bathrooms were stuck in a time warp, sporting outdated fixtures and cramped layouts. Limited storage and bulky linen towers that blocked natural light added to the feeling of confinement. Downstairs, the basement was a sea of belongings with only one closet for storage. Peeling linoleum tiles and remnants of an acoustic ceiling definitely didn't create an inviting atmosphere. The Vision: Functionality, Light, and Style Our clients desired bathrooms that were both functional and stylish, with ample storage and a spa-like ambiance. In the basement, their dream was to create a space where they could relax, pursue hobbies, and entertain, all while keeping their belongings organized. The Transformation: Custom Solutions for a Perfect Fit
●Bathrooms: We banished the bulky linen towers and designed custom vanities withdrawers and shallow countertop towers to maximize storage without sacrificing light.Frameless glass shower enclosures added a modern touch and further enhanced thefeeling of spaciousness. Each bathroom, though similar in shape, boasts a distinctpersonality. The lower level bathroom has a contemporary spa-like feel with off-whitetextured tiles and a sleek white oak vanity, while the upper bathroom exudes elegancewith polished marble-look tiles, a richly stained oak vanity, and a luxurious showerbench.
●Basement: Forget basic drywall closets! We maximized the basement's potential withtwo large closets for storage, a custom media unit, and a clever cabinet designed tohouse the clients' roll-in sewing machine table and piano.
Challenges and Triumphs
During the renovation, we encountered some unexpected ductwork that threatened to interfere with a planned shower niche. Our team quickly adapted, shifting the niche and maximizing its width to maintain both functionality and design.
Life After Renovation: A New Chapter
The transformation is remarkable. The bathrooms are now bright, spacious, and functional oases. The basement has been reborn as a haven for relaxation and hobbies, with ample storage to keep everything organized. Our clients can now enjoy movie nights, play the piano, and indulge in their crafting passions in a space that truly reflects their lifestyle.
Memorable Moments
Working with these clients was an absolute joy. Their trust in our expertise, especially when it came to maximizing their basement's potential, was incredibly rewarding. Seeing their faces light up as they experienced their newly renovated spaces made all the effort worthwhile.
This project was a reminder that renovations are about more than just aesthetics. They're about creating spaces that enhance our clients' lives and allow them to embrace new possibilities. We're honored to have played a part in this couple's journey to a more comfortable, functional, and beautiful home.

house and garden in Israel
House and garden in Israel – how to create a connection between them
Here are some ideas.
All of the photos are from projects designed by my office.
1. Think about a good connection between the inside of the house and the garden – this is important for both!
A garden is always better and more useful if it is open to the main living area.
2. Two windows looking out to the garden in different directions are always better than one.
3. Using the same floor inside and outside will connect them and enlarge both.
In this project we used old -fashioned concrete tiles for the house and garden. We used old tiles which we found in the garden to guard the renovated house against the evil eye…..
4. Treat at least part of the garden as you would treat a room inside the house a room wth a floor, ceiling, walls, furniture. This is especially true for gardens in countries like Israel, where gardens can be used almost all the time
5. Even narrow side paths and akward corners can become worthwhile outdoor spaces if you treat them well!
Add benches, plants, beautiful floors and furniture and make them part of your home design.
With the help of beautiful furniture and a large flowerpot, we created a small outdoor "living room" between different levels of the garden:
6. Use flowerpots, sculpures, decorations, lights, in all different hights and shapes and colors, as you would inside – and more!
use beautiful objects, create beautiful compositions.
