The couple recently updated other areas of the home on their own quite beautifully, but realized they needed the help of professionals when it came to the kitchen and mudroom. The new kitchen plan enlarged the island with additional seating, eliminated soffits for extra storage and an updated look, and swapped out the desk for a message center with a hidden charging/drop area. A cozy banquette was designed for the eat-in area of the kitchen. Drawers below the bench add storage to this gathering spot. Aesthetic elements with a soft industrial feel to compliment the new interiors were desired. Beautiful island detailing with tall brackets, panels and base molding in a lovely grey paint in contrast to the white perimeter create a focal point for the space. The homeowner sourced a fun light fixture to top off the island. This along with a stainless chimney hood and appliances add to the overall industrial appeal. Grey cabinetry in the mudroom flows with the kitchen while adding cubbies and a bench with lockers above. A cabinetry surround for the washer and dryer integrates the built-ins in a space that works hard while looking pretty.

We loved this project! The transformation was incredible. Our client came to us asking for a master bedroom that created a space for them to retreat to at the end of a very busy day. They moved into this beautiful estate overlooking a Connecticut vineyard that yearned for a design to compliment the architecture of the home, yet personalize the transitional taste of this young couple. We wanted to bring them elements that included clean lines with some updated tradition. Gray has been the new neutral in design lately but to set it aside from the typical use of this hue, a favorite by many today, we added a touch of gold for warmth and elegance. The client's desire for a place to read and relax allowed for a seating area where they can transition to a doorway that leads them out to a beautiful stone veranda. The clients came to LaMantia requesting a more grand arrival to their home. They yearned for a large Foyer and LaMantia architect, Gail Lowry, designed a jewel. This lovely home, on the north side of Chicago, had an existing off-center and set-back entry. Lowry viewed this set-back area as an excellent opportunity to enclose and add to the interior of the home in the form of a Foyer. Before Before Before Before With the front entrance now stepped forward and centered, the addition of an Arched Portico dressed with stone pavers and tapered columns gave new life to this home. The final design incorporated and re-purposed many existing elements. The original home entry and two steps remain in the same location, but now they are interior elements. The original steps leading to the front door are now located within the Foyer and finished with multi-sized travertine tiles that lead the visitor from the Foyer to the main level of the home. After After After After After After The details for the exterior were also meticulously thought through. The arch of the existing center dormer was the key to the portico design. Lowry, distressed with the existing combination of “busy” brick and stone on the façade of the home, designed a quieter, more reserved facade when the dark stained, smooth cedar siding of the second story dormers was repeated at the new entry. Visitors to this home are now first welcomed under the sheltering Portico and then, once again, when they enter the sunny warmth of the Foyer.

This kitchen was a collaboration between Bilotta Designer Danielle Florie and Peter Coffin of Doyle Coffin Architecture. A young couple with three kids living, for years, in their 1960s colonial, needed a change. They wanted to transform the home, situated in beautiful Ridgefield, CT, into a contemporary “farmhouse”. For the kitchen they yearned for something “hip”, yet elegant – a mix of Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency and Art Deco. The original kitchen was a traditional, inset cabinet in a honey colored cherry – a far cry from the current space. After much research on Houzz, primarily, they came to hire Bilotta and Doyle Coffin to bring their project to life. The contemporary cabinetry for the wall and tall cabinets are flat panel, MDF in a high-gloss black finish; the bases are flat cut walnut with a custom stain. The gold accents from the Richelieu hardware to the custom Amoré hood to the light fixtures (and even the table base) were all “must-haves” by the client – even her flatware is gold! The Madra Perla Quartzite backsplash and countertops, and the 24x24 porcelain floor tiles (that look like cement) were done with by Terra Tile & Marble. Appliances are a mix of Wolf and KitchenAid. Our clients new kitchen remodel is making us yearn for the sunny skies and warm ocean breezes of summer. Located on the waterfront in Barrington, RI, a blue and white palette is so stunning. Featuring Candlelight Cabinetry Boulevard Full Overlay Door in white.
