California kitchens can be cramped. I had been looking at the space (filled) under our staircase for years and wondering what could be done if it was opened up. Working with Adam was incredibly helpful. He suggested some ways to begin thinking about under the staircase ideas, discussed my design ideas, helped clarify what was possible, and connected us with an amazing finish carpenter who created a wonderful unit for the space I had opened up. The result is a beautiful custom cabinet and shelving setup that looks like it’s always been part of the house. We're really lucky we could tap Adam for guidance and couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

I worked with Adam on remodeling our master bathroom and am happy with the final results. Adam helped us by creating the design, helping us choose all the fixtures/colors/materials, and getting our remodel permitted by the city. This was my first remodel and I had no idea of how it worked but Adam made the whole process simple and easy. We worked with Adam to facilitate getting a permit to replace old exterior siding, trim, and roof for an apartment building in Mountain View and would gladly hire him again. He answered all our questions and guided us through the building permit process. He obtained as-built and elevation measurements, put together a drawing package and spoke to the correct city planning contacts to give us the best chance of getting our permit approved quickly, avoiding a planning commission hearing. We appreciated his opinion on aesthetics and knowing the right people to ask the right questions for our project. Thanks Adam!

Working with Adam from Studio AMA to remodel and expand the first floor of our home was such a smooth experience. He was incredibly professional and thoughtful throughout the whole process—brainstorming design alternatives, creating and finalizing the plans, and guiding us through the engineering and permitting process. The city was very difficult to work with during the permitting process, but Adam was very familiar with the process and helped us get permits issued smoothly. With Adam’s help, we were able to modernize our dated interior layout to fit the needs of our family, and would definitely use Studio-AMA again.

I hired Adam to help with a full interior renovation of my 1900 craftsman bungalow in Los Gatos and I couldn't be more thrilled with his work. It's hard to find an architect that's both talented and accommodating to the client—but Adam strikes a great balance of both. In our initial consultation we spoke about my goals (including preserving the historic character of the home while giving it a modern update), looked at references on Pinterest, and created a plan based on my budget. Simple, easy. The design process was reasonably fast and straightforward. I loved Adam's aesthetic and was very pleased with the final design. Throughout the 8-month project, Adam was there to help work directly with my contractor, making suggestions on colors, finishes, and small issues that arose during construction. He even brought in an amazingly taxlented interior designer to help with the final touches (furniture and curtains). The end result was beautiful—I get more compliments on my home than any other I've ever had, and that's saying a lot! Thank you Adam for making my dream home a reality.

We had the pleasure of working with Adam Mayer of Studio AMA on a full renovation for my childhood home in Palo Alto. As both architect and designer, Adam was tasked with modernizing the home while still honoring its core structure and spirit. Adam truly works in the spirit of collaboration. We never felt pressured or pushed into a style or aesthetic choice that wasn’t our own. It’s clear that Adam prioritizes the client’s vision, which is not always the case with other designers. From a logistical perspective, Adam is easy to reach and responsive. His attention to detail and research made the permitting process a breeze. He also stepped up to the plate on our behalf when our contractor tried to drop a key part of our architectural plan (which was already approved by a structural engineer and the city.) Many of Adam’s suggestions completely transformed our house into a space that is bright, airy, and spacious, while also being functional and family-friendly. We are so happy with our beautiful new home and have nothing but good things to say about working with Adam.
