We've wanted to redo our kitchen and family bathroom for years - we knew when the time came we would only use A&E. I worked with A&E on a complete house remodel (kitchen, laundry, and 2 baths) on a tight timeframe. They were communicative, conscientious, and did excellent work. In addition to their fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, they were price-conscious and did not try to upsell me on anything, often finding me a better deal. I loved the designs they presented, and they were responsive to my requests, while explaining some of the limitations of the project. He keeps you updated throughout the process and you can trust that he is on top of everything. We often received weekly emails documenting the progress made and upcoming tasks in the project. He was on site almost daily either doing some of the work or checking in on things. We will be using them again for any and all future renovation projects! They are the best of the best.

Don’t waste your time looking, you won’t find better. A&E Construction simply delivers. Quality results, quality people, delivered when promised and on budget. What else is there? All of this took place in the early post-Covid period when labor and supplies were beyond tight, yet A&E delivered. Our project was extensive: new roof, new windows, new doors, new siding, new hardwood floors throughout, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new laundry room, and a new expanded deck. They comprehended the aesthetic I was aiming for and made it happen. The stone artisan, tile craftsmen, cabinet makers, electrician, the plumbers, the spackler, and the painters were all talented, hard-working, respectful, good people. When a few small glitches naturally arose, A&E addressed the issues (like one of the sinks initially didn't hold water when the drain stopper was engaged) and took care of them so that the bathroom was fully functional upon completion. If we ever have another project to do in this house, I would not hesitate to ask A&E to do the work. They are incomparable.

We recently replaced our 40 year old cedar siding on our house with Hardie board, replaced all exterior trim with composite material, and installed all new windows and trim. A&E Construction completed a range of projects on our house: removed an inside chimney with resulting wall, floor and ceiling finishing; re-routed heating system plumbing; replaced outside doors; rebuilt closets; removed carpeting; replaced a set of stairs. Second time we are working with A&E. Everything came out exactly as designed. The team is friendly, on time, and extremely respectful of your family and home. We had a great mix of absolute pros. Painters, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and the best sheetrock work I’ve ever seen. All changes (you will have them) were accommodated and there were no serious delays getting supplies. A & E resided a portion of my 18th-century barn in cedar, matching the materials to the rest of the barn, rebuilding sliding doors, and reworking metal door hanging devices. They greatly improved the engineering of the structure, while maintaining the integrity of the appearance. They were working in a fenced garden where they did no damage to the landscaping and cleaned up all the debris from the work. Moreover the employees are skilled, polite, and pleasant to deal with. This work was done during the covid crisis, and everyone observed every possible safety measure. I also had some house windows and my front door replaced -- again the carpentry matched the original 18th-century trim and all work was performed efficiently and safely.

We have used A&E for a number of projects over the years, from adding a skylight to an upstairs bedroom to adding an extra bay to our garage. This project entailed the complete renovation of an upstairs bathroom, mired in the 1980s. From design to execution A&E provided plans, sourced the chosen materials, gutted the existing room and completed the project from floor to ceiling. The A&E team was always professional, including the numerous sub-contractors, and inevitable changes to the original plan were handled smoothly. Every day the site was cleaned and care was taken not to disturb the rest of the house. The end result is beautiful. We have and will always recommend them and use A&E for any future projects.

A & E was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. The contract was detailed and very specific. When we chose upgrades or had unexpected problems, the house was built in 1910, Greg was always absolutely clear about cost. There were no surprises! The entire team is professional and very service oriented. They were helpful, flexible, and creative. The workmanship was excellent and the results are beautiful. The subcontractors were great too. Everyone arrived promptly every morning and left the house neat and clean each afternoon. If it's possible to say, when your house was invaded Monday through Friday by people wielding hammers and othe tools of destruction, we miss them!!! They were really great to work with. A&E remodeled and reconfigured our master bath and WIC. We had a poor layout from the original builder and very tiny closets. A&E's designer, Donald, came up with great ideas and a better plan to maximize closet space and give us a larger shower and private toilet area. They also remodeled our kids' bathroom. We have hired A&E to do several projects since 2012- finish our basement, replace front steps with covered porch (2015) and re-do our kitchen (2016). Their work is the high quality; their wood working contractors are detail craftsmen. When re-doing our front steps, they discovered how deteriorated the foundation of the steps were and the house's front sill plate was rotted behind the steps. They corrected the issues with minimal delay in the project and I know the work will hold up for another 50+ years. I call A&E for all my projects because I know I will get excellent quality and work that is on time and up to code and if there are questions or concerns they are handled quickly. In this company you get what you pay for.

Greg and the A&E crew did a major renovation of the third floor of our 1895 Victorian home which included replacing hardwood floors, building a bar, performing considerable electrical work, installing central air and completely renovating a bathroom. Greg clearly has the knowledge to manage a complicated project, provided accurate estimates and realistic timeframes. Every subcontractor was topnotch in terms of quality of work and professionalism. As you can imagine, in a 120 year old home, there are many hidden issues that arise when you start entering walls and ceilings, and Greg was able to guide us through those inevitable obstacles. We hired A&E Construction to finish our basement based on a friends recommendation. We had a bedroom with egress window built, an office, a kids play area complete with a hidden den and four built in bunk beds and a large space for home entertainment. Once the work commenced, the project took about six to seven weeks to complete. This was the estimate Greg had given us. All the work was done on budget, despite some changes and additions along the way. Right from the first visits with Greg, Donald and Larry, we felt reassured that the project would be handled professionally and with our interests (not theirs) in mind. They listened to what we wanted and suggested alternatives that might work better, all the time showing flexibility and adapting to the changes we made. A big concern of mine was the future potential for water to enter the basement. They suggested the reconfiguring of the sump pumps and piping which brought us great peace of mind. They carried out work that I wasn't expecting, like re-locating some existing HVAC ducting to maximize space and ceiling height. The quality of the workmanship and the attention to detail couldn't be faulted. All of the contractors employed worked well together, were polite and respected our home while the work was in progress. Wooden floors were always covered and doors kept closed to prevent our small children from becoming too inquisitive. All the contractors cleaned up at the end of each day and when on the odd occasion, due to sanding for example, when a lot of dust would find its way upstairs, Greg would arrange for cleaners to come in and clean up. Either Greg or Larry would keep us updated on a regular basis, always explaining what stage of work would come next. One of them would be present on site for most of the days that work was carried out. Any questions or concerns were quickly addressed, either in person, or if they were unavailable, by e-mail, usually the same day. Our finished basement exceeds our expectations. It has great space and light and we are looking forward to enjoying the added space their work has brought to our home. Having worked with some real "cowboys" in the past, A&E Construction have re-installed my faith in the building trade. If you need work done, these are the guys to do it. You wont be disappointed.

I recently had skylights replaced by this company. I had 3 other quotes and they were very competitive They communicated in a timely manner from the initial quote to the project's completion. Every individual was courteous and performed their job to the highest level. The attention to detail and finishing touches were unrivaled by anything I have experienced in 35 years of home ownership. I feel so fortunate to have chosen A & E and will hire them for any future repairs or renovations in our home. Don't hesitate to contract with this company.

Four years ago, A & E gave me my dream kitchen. Our home was built in the 40s and the kitchen had not really been up graded since then. Greg listen to what I wanted and was able to take my ideas and wants to come up with a plan and buget that was perfect for my husband and myself. A & E's crew were very professional and made the construction easy to live through. They had to removed walls, floor and ceiling and move a door, but each night, our home was as clean as they could make it. Greg always kept us informed how well we were staying on budget and gave us options when we went over. Even after all this time, I still love my kitchen and would not change a thing! We also had an enery audit done at the same time and had additional insulation, and new energy saving appliances put in. A & E helped us with the paper work to qualify for an energy loan and paperwork needed for tax purposes. We have had our utility bills lowered each month. Definitely worth the cost!

We have done several major projects with A&E Construction over the past 10 years, and would highly recommend them! Most recently, A&E built a new beach house from the ground up for us in Seaside Park NJ. We are delighted with the end result! And our house was completed on-time and on-budget, despite the challenging winter conditions. A&E pays attention to the details, big and small, and Greg has a strong team of sub-contractors who uphold these same high standards. His team also cleans up the job site daily, which is a big plus. During the construction process, Greg kept us regularly apprised of where things stood, helped us make key selections, and brought solutions forward as we encountered obstacles or other challenges. It was an amazingly smooth process, and we love, love, love our new home!

A & E put new siding, new windows, a new roof, gutters, and a front porch on our house which gave our home a whole new and updated look that we love. Greg and his crew were professional and easy to work with at each phase of the project. They were easy to work with, always suggested options, explained carefully the pros and cons for various possibilities, offered ways to save money without losing quality, checked in regularly, and kept us informed at every step. A&E is a terrific company! I searched for nearly 2 years to find a contractor who had the best reputation, who gave me a fair price, & who was responsive to my needs. They completed the job on schedule & within budget. The kitchen & bath are everything I'd hoped for & more. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat.

I have used A & E Construction on several large improvements to our home in Princeton and give them my highest recommendation. The first project was last summer (2013) in which they did a complete remodel of our kitchen, which included knocking down walls as well as adding a new master bathroom and walk-in closet to our bedroom. Because I was living in Florida at the time, we had to make all of the decisions via email with pictures. Not only did A & E provide exceptional advice with the selections but they completed the project exactly when they said they would when we first signed the contract. Their work was incredible and they transformed the interior of our home substantially with fantastic attention to detail. The second project done last month (June 2014) was the residing of our home. When considering this project, I contacted three other companies to compare quotes on siding. A & E was the best deal of the four by several thousand dollars and I already knew the impressive quality of their work. It took 5 days as they said it would and our 25 year old home looks like it was just built this summer. I could not be happier with the quality of their work, their timeliness in completing the projects as scheduled and the professionalism of their workers. I do not and will not receive any compensation from A & E for this review. I'm doing it solely because they really are a great family-run company and deserve the best review I can offer.

It was an emergency. Our living room window had just been broken. A call placed to A & E and their request for a photo (which was sent via email), and an appointment set-up for a couple of hours later and they were there and knew exactly what to do. Broken window was removed, the replacement (Andersen) window ordered and (while they were here) new string mechanisms ordered for other windows and a casement mechanism for the kitchen window taken apart to ascertain the parts needed to render it operable again all done - politely, professionally and neatly. Later, window was in, scheduled for installation and other items taken care of at the same time, yielded a very satisfied homeowner.

A&E did a fabulous 2 story addition (kitchen, master bath and WIC) for us in about 3 months which totally surprised us due to the terrible winter we had. Every day (including several weekends) workers were here and always at the end of each day, they tidied up so well that we could walk across the areas barefoot if we wanted. Greg's team was courteous, professional and knowledgeable and we would highly recommend them. Their allowances were reasonable (although we went over for the tile thanks to the amazing Darlene at a Step in Stone as well as for the frameless shower enclosure by Glass Castle) and they were kind enough to provide us with a utility sink (and connected it) so that the 6 weeks we were without a kitchen, we had somewhere to wash dishes and have access to water. We'd definitely use them again and I'm grateful for my friend for recommending them!

We have worked with A&E Construction on many projects from finishing our basement to a backyard renovation including a pool house, screened porch and outdoor fireplace. Our projects have all run very smoothly. Greg and his team are neat, clean and always on time. They were very respectful of our family while working in our home. Greg was always upfront about costs and how long the project would take. He also gave us great ideas for our projects and how to make the most of our budget. Greg was always available whenever we had questions and got back to us in a timely manner. The quality of the work done by A&E Construction is excellent. Their main goal is to make sure their customer is 100% happy when the job is done. After working with them on our basement, our first project, we knew we would only work with A&E Construction on all our future projects.

We have hired A & E for a number of higher end remodeling projects in our home. Since we were living in our home during the projects, it was important to our family that the workers were trustworthy, clean, and considerate. All of the employees were very meticulous, highly skilled and very efficient which alleviated a lot of stress for us. Our most recent project was a sun room remodel which turned a porch into an all season retreat. Since this room connects with a formal living room and a family room, we wanted a lot of detail and quality craftsmanship. We used AJ Margulis as our designer and her suggestions were incorporated beautifully! Again A & E exceeded our expectations. Larry our project manager, was punctual, friendly and efficient. Since I work at home, I was appreciative that his team was considerate and noninvasive. Every day we were given a summary of what was accomplished and what what would take place in the coming days and weeks. This enabled us to plan our day, and it alleviated a lot of potential stress that comes with remodeling. When the building inspectors came to our house they both stated independently--"I know A& Es work--no worries, this will be a short inspection." That sounded like a trustworthy professional endorsement to us! We are very happy with our beautiful new room.

We think A&E Construction does fantastic work! We have hired this company for several jobs, both big and small, and we have been very impressed with the workmanship, the process and the workers. Our largest project with A&E Construction involved totally renovating our twin daughter’s bedroom, which included raising the ceiling and constructing a built-in closet and shelving. I worked closely with the owner Greg Fontaine to discuss the design and come up with a plan. He was very easy to communicate with, he listened and came back with multiple creative options with different budget requirements. There were no delays, we stayed within our budget, and the workers always cleaned up at the end of the day and were very pleasant and non-obtrusive. We are extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend A&E Construction.
