Dependable, honest, clear, professional. When we decided to pursue a lower house renovation in the Spring of 2025, Alan O'Rourke was the name that was suggested to us, and he is who we will recommend to others. His team completely transformed our living space, and we are beyond thankful for their direction, skill, communication, and clarity from beginning to end of the process. Initially, one of us was keen to work with a general contractor, while I (who doesn't know a thing about renos or construction) had thought that we could save some money and manage it ourselves. With Alan, our construction began July 2 and we were fully completed and moved back into the space by the end of October. We would never have been able to organize all of the different trades required with the efficiency that he did, and we would have been in *way* over our heads. The benefit of not having to seek out any trades companies, check references, follow-up with issues, etc., is way more impactful than I had ever imagined. If you are on the fence about working with a general contractor, do it. It will absolutely save your sanity! The end product is our dream space, which we are already enjoying hosting dinners and events in. When little issues came up along the way Alan was always quick to address them. We had confidence in him from beginning to end, and he was aware of our budget and provided suggestions that would work for us. Alan is honest, genuine, and grounded, which makes him really approachable and you know that you can trust his guidance. If we were to jump back in time, we would 100% work with Alan again, and have since recommended him to family friends. We would be happy to be a reference if you are considering working with him and his team.

Our family used O’Rourke Construction on a remodel of the top x2 floors of our home. This included x3 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, family room and x3 bedrooms. And the end result was ‘perfection’. Our house is stunning and the detail and care that went into the work was exceptional. Family and friends are so impressed by the quality of the work. Alan O'Rourke did a renovation of our house in 2020, and we are very happy with the results. The renovation included complete re-do of the kitchen, some framing and moving walls in the front hall, and completely new floors and paint throughout the house. The quality of work was great, and he was a pleasure to work with. Costs were reasonable, and well communicated in advance, so we were able to make good decisions with no unexpected surprises. Alan gave good information for us to make decisions as the project progressed. The workers and subcontractors were also all pleasant people who did good work.

Alan and his team have completed four projects for us: installing French doors leading to our deck (2022), a complete renovation of an existing bathroom & construction of a new powder room (2023), a bedroom reno (2024), and a kitchen remodel for our business (2024). All of our interactions with Alan and his team (Paddy, Jason, Tod and Alana) have been positive. He listened to our ideas and worked collaboratively with us to adjust where necessary, and to address the inevitable challenges that come with renovating a 1942 house. He is practical, but open-minded. He respected the fact that we needed to live in the house while our only bathroom was being renovated, and went the extra mile to accommodate us. His budget estimates were fair and accurate, and he provided monthly updates that identified budget variances and extras. Alan has access to high-quality subcontractors, which is incredibly valuable. Several of the subs on our projects made a point of saying they respect Alan and try to prioritize his projects. That's a huge plus in the current trades environment. Alan and his team are great to work with and we enjoyed having them in our home. We hope to work with Alan again, and we have already recommended him to friends and neighbours.

Alan completed a big job on our foundations after our previous builder walked out on us half way through. Alan and his team were incredibly professional and transparent with the costs. The hourly rate seemed quite high but that is because Alan's workers are highly skilled and got the job done very quickly and to a high standard. I can't recommend Alan O'Rourke Construction highly enough.

Alan and his team renovated our bathroom. They did an excellent job and he was great to work with. I was impressed by Alan's knowledge, his communication, and his work. Working with Alan for the extensive renovation of our house in Victoria was a productive and pleasant experience, from project conception to the final touches. We loved working with Alan and his team and highly recommend him. We renovated our main floor including kitchen, bathroom and living room and took down one wall. We're thrilled with the results. Alan was great to work with, always friendly and was super responsive. He also has a great professional team that he works with including Ivy House design and Splinters, it made a big difference working with a single team. We also really appreciated Alan's attention to our budget, from regular updates to telling us the impact of any decisions that came up after the fact. We went with custom cabinets which were more expensive but love them, and the trade-off was we went cheaper on the floor with vinyl plank which we are also very happy with, it kept us inline with our target budget. The whole experience was very positive and the quality of the work was excellent. We would absolutely hire Alan again for future reno's.

Alan and his team were fantastic - they worked on our house in Victoria and were quick to respond, on time every day, and courteous and efficient. We hired them on short notice and they were kind enough to accommodate our narrow timeline before we departed on an extended Sabbatical. While we were offshore, communication was instantaneous and satisfactory. The work was of high standard, and any suggestions and recommendations they made were well considered and never self-serving. We would highly recommend them - in fact, we plan to use them for the next phase of our renovations.

Alan was amazing. We were coordinating a complete bathroom renno down to the studs from the other side of the country, and he patiently answered all our questions and organised a timeline that worked for us . The workmanship across all the trades was of the highest quality, and the project came in under budget, and well within specified timeframe. Could not be happier with the final product. We sometimes go into the bathroom just to marvel at the difference!

We hired Alan O’Rouke Construction to do renovations to two bathrooms. From the first time we spoke with Alan about the project, we were pleased with the ease of sharing our plans and our design style with him. He was an excellent listener who gave meaningful suggestions about design, safety and budgetary issues. During the renovations, Alan was quick to respond to questions and concerns, which made it easy to work with him and made the whole process go smoothly. Whenever small problems arose, as they will in any renovation, Alan quickly dealt with the situation and calmly resolved any issues. The worksite was always clutter-free and orderly; when the renovation was complete, the rooms were left in a clean and tidy state.
