We completed a full gut renovation of our NYC duplex, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience than the one we had with Alex and the entire Green Conversions team. Taking on a renovation of this scale in a historic neighborhood—while navigating the ever-changing permits and regulations of the NYC Department of Buildings—can be incredibly overwhelming. From day one, Alex made us feel supported, heard, and confidently guided through every step of the process of creating our dream home. What truly sets Alex and his team apart is their exceptional communication. They kept us informed throughout the project while also maintaining seamless communication with our architects, subcontractors, neighbors, and the city. We are extremely happy to write this review about the high quality painting work of our apartment by Alex and his team. We also worked with Alex 10 years ago when we renovated our apartment. Two characteristics stand out. High quality work and genuinely wonderful customer relationship based on trust. Alex made us feel very comfortable from the start of the project proposal stage to the end of the project. He and his team listened to our needs and worked with us to make sure our expectations are met. Alex is empathetic and makes sure the process is stress free. We recommend Alex and his team very highly.

Green Conversions not only did a thoroughly beautiful job beyond our expectations, but they resolved a construction nightmare scenario left by a previous contractor. Owner, Alex Trivizas seamlessly dealt with all the necessary management agencies, the changing codes - and often entanglements - that go with New York City apartment renovations. Our issues were complicated; joint pre-war apartment plumbing and delicate gas line risers that affected the whole building. Green Conversions sailed through the predetermined timetable with efficiency and neatness. (Every day his crew organized their tools, vacuumed and made sure the space available to us was neat and manageable, as we lived here while under construction.) His construction manager, Wilson, showed up every morning, explained the day's work, checked for any issues that might come up and notified all parties, so there were no schedule interruptions. I particularly enjoyed researching for fixtures, etc., but wasn't sure what would technically go together. Alex gave my options to his specialist to select what that would work, so there was guaranteed orderliness. He also added a few gratis undertakings, just so the job would turn out better. Amazing! Our pre-war co-op has been beautifully upgraded and enhanced, and Alex’s work has added great value for decades to come. I was lucky to find him!

Alex (Sensitive Information Hidden) (Green Conversions Inc) are fantastic! His team, their quality of work is all and beyond what I expected. Alex gave me great advice, his pricing never had any surprises, and his team did beautiful work! They always came on time, kept the rest of my apt dust free and cleaned up beautifully at the end of every day. I am as happy as can be with the results! I also have to say that this was a very stress free experience!

They did a complete gut renovation on my NYC condo. It turned out amazing. They completely understood my budget. They stayed on the job until it was completed. They the left the job site clean and tidy at the of the day. The quality of work was excellent. I would hire them again tomorrow if I had a project to do.

We hired Alex and his project manager Bob to help us install a washer/dryer in our pre-war Irving Place building. While it sounds like a simple task, the job actually entailed rewiring the entirety of our three-unit apartment (given building-wide electrical limitations) as well as redirecting a significant amount of plumbing work. Alex and Bob went above and beyond! Not only did they finish the task early (by over a week), but they uncovered a number of preexisting issues and fixed them along the way, without adding to/amending the contract or price. They were also exceptional communicators and kept us abreast of progress on a daily basis via photos and status texts. Given that we have a newborn son, we were really concerned about displacement and cleanliness and our apartment looked like they had just hired a team of professional cleaners when they finished the task. We have historically had very mixed (ie negative) experiences with contractors and would say that Alex and Bob have restored much of our faith and trust, and we could not recommend them more highly. They were world-class in integrity, communication, professionalism, and quality of work, and will be our first and only call for all renovations/contracting moving forward.

GCI renovated our 2 bedroom/2 bathroom E. Village apt during the middle of the pandemic, from August 2020 to May 2021. From start to finish, Alex, Carlos and their team, as well as their vendors did an excellent job and were a pleasure to work with. Alex and Carlos have a deep understanding and appreciation for every detail, with great judgement, experience and professionalism. The final result has exceeded our expectations, and we will be able to enjoy our new space x decades to come. I rec'd them highly without hesitation.

We purchased a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment that required a full gut renovation. Everything had to be torn up, down and apart so we can remake our future home. The mistake on our part was underestimating what it would take for our first renovation project. There was so much to do and so much we didn't know. We are so thankful that Green Conversions took our project. They were highly recommended from an architect friend who had also trusted Alex for his home renovation. Green Conversions is professional from the very start - open and transparent about costs, work effort and estimated timing. Not once did we feel anything was unreasonable or questionable; they always shared ideas and options but left the decision with you. They are incredibly thoughtful in their approach, working with you as a partner rather than just a client. You can tell they care about your space and take pride in their work. Without their guidance and patience, this project would have run over much longer than either parties would have wanted. They helped us prioritize design research and detailed decisions; they leveraged their contacts to help us get quality, beautiful millwork to cover our PTAC units; and when we purchased the wrong shelving for our kitchen, their team magically resolved the issue but custom building a platform that looked completely integrated. This was an enormous project. If we were to renovate again, Green Conversions would be the first contractor we would call.

I would strongly recommend Green Conversions for renovation projects in NYC. When we undertook our renovation, we were weary of picking the wrong contractor, as we had heard many horror stories. Ultimately, after speaking with several references, my wife and I decided to use Alex for our renovation. We are very happy with the finished product and Alex and his team were great all along the way. Alex was intimately involved throughout our project. He and his team were always very respectful and earned high marks from our building manager. In addition, Alex was extremely detail oriented and transparent when it came to change orders. He always had good ideas regarding changes that made a big difference in terms of the final look of our apartment. Furthermore, following the end of the project, there were several areas where we wanted to make some tweaks and Alex remained his normal responsive self and was extremely helpful in remediating those issues. In short, two thumbs up.

As a first time home owner, I truly feel like I found a unicorn in Alex and the team of Green Conversions Inc., who far exceeded our every expectation. We originally hired a contractor used by a family member, but quickly became one of those NYC horror stories after the contractor stopped returning our phone calls and left us completely stranded. After asking many friends for recommendations, we decided to go with Green Conversions Inc., a recommendation from a friend who is an architect working in the business. Our only regret is not having gone with Green Conversion in the first place. We were on a time constraint and Alex was beyond professional- he completed our kitchen renovation before the expected time frame, came on budget with no hidden/extra costs, met with us every week, promptly answered calls, and was extremely diligent in meeting all co-op and DoB requirements. Most importantly Green Conversion’s craftmanship is unparalleled and the entire team a pleasure to work with. We always felt like we were in good hands and never doubted Alex’s level of dedication or honesty. Even weeks after the renovation was completed, our project manager still made himself readily available to answer any questions that arose. We can’t say enough good things about Green Conversions, nor thank them enough for making our vision into a reality and transforming our first apartment into our dream home!

We would hire Green Conversions Inc over and over again! They committed to an enormous project and not only finished on time, but made up for days that could have easily been lost when we made changes and when unforeseen field site issues arose . I will preface my review by saying that I've had experience renovating--my homes and those of others--in different countries but never in NYC. Well-meaning friends and family warned me that it was bound to be painful, over-budget, delayed and frustrating no matter what. I am happy to report that none of this is true when it comes to Green Conversions Inc. From the get-go, from our very first conversation, this contractor proved exceptionally professional, thorough, attentive, proactive and reliable. Every piece of the work (regardless of his sub-contractors) was masterfully coordinated and completed on time, impeccably, and on budget. Whenever budget was exceeded it was entirely due to my own wish to add something I had not foreseen in the initial scope of work. In a very impressive and reassuring way, this contractor anticipated and flagged all decision points, choices I would have to make, things I ought to reflect on, and managed my time and expectations and budget accordingly. He also introduced me to an excellent architect and shepherded me through the complexe obtention of permits and all the tedious paperwork I wasn't familiar with. Having my contractor's support throughout this administrative process was at once reassuring and confidence-inspiring. His excellent teams were, from start to finish, on-time, tidy, considerate, professional and pleasant. They worked very hard through some very hot summer months in the city and the project was delivered on time, in the most serene conditions. The contractor himself was a joy to work with: always making me feel heard, understood and seen. always patient and on-the-ball and exceptionally responsive on email, phone and text 7 days a week. It was a pleasure to collaborate with someone so tuned-in to his client and her worries, and so willing to go the extra mile whenever technical challenges popped up on site. Green Conversions Inc became the envy of all my friends who'd experienced renovations and were just stunned when I described how smooth our project was. Many people I know end up firing or suing their contractor and I couldn't believe how energizing and fun it was to work with a contractor. Even my building's Superintend and neighbors loved him. I trust and recommend this contractor wholeheartedly. In case you thought renovation projects can never be completed on time, on-budget and without frustration and anger, think again.
