Barr Brothers Construction

Having been a party to a number of new builds I understand there is no perfect home. Often times it is the response to less than perfect that sets a builder apart. In this case, unfortunately, Barr Bros. comes up way short . Our new home experienced significant issues with the "luxury vinyl plank" their quote not mine. It was determined that an independent flooring inspector would be hired to assess the issue. The inspector determined that both the product and the installation was substandard. The flooring manufacturer agreed to remove the defective flooring and install the same product again. When the replacement product was valued at $2.50 per square foot "luxury vinyl plank"!!!!! we decided to accept the replacement dollars instead and have a much better-quality product installed. We contracted ourselves for this work and had the understanding that Barr Bros. would return for reinstallation of some trim material and required touch up painting. After 17 attempts to contact Dave Barr by phone and email we have gotten no response. My hope would have been after a prolonged period of time and inconvenience dealing with the defective flooring that Dave Barr would have been quick to address the remaining flooring related issues. Instead, he has chosen to ignore and walk away from his commitments and responsibilities. I so wish I did not have to write this review but feel that it is important that future customers are aware of the truly unprofessional way Barr Bros. handled this situation.

Dave was an absolute pleasure to work with. He built a house for my family and it was a smooth, efficient, painless process. This was the second house I've built in my life and would recommend Barr Brothers as a first class construction experience. Dave's hands on attitude makes the difference in my eyes. His craftsmanship is second to none. I've been in the construction industry for almost 30 years and have yet to meet a firm with more integrity and honesty. Would definitely build with Barr Brothers again.

My family and I outgrew our Willowick bungalow and were in search of new home. After looking for homes for sale in the area we decided maybe to look into building a home. We looked at many homes around lake county, many neighborhoods and many builders. My wife and I saw a very nice home that was unfortunately sold but in the last stages of being built so we took a tour with the builder. David Barr was wonderful with us first time home builders he took his time and answered any questions we had. We eventually found a lot in a neighborhood we liked and had David Barr and his highly skilled trades get started. The house went up with out any delay. In fact it went up so well and right on schedule we held up the process because our mortgage wasn't finalized on time . About 4 years later we love our home just as much and there has not been anything to complain about. We have been able to really tell what a nice home Barr can build recently because Ryan homes has been slapping together their homes around our neighborhood. The quality of a Ryan home compared to a custom Barr home is not even close, it's like comparing a shed to a house . We love our home and kind of wish we could pick it up and move it out of a Ryan homes neighborhood but will most likely end up building on a more private location in the future , hopefully near future. When we do get to that point it will hands down be a Barr home . If you or anyone you know is looking for a builder then look no further Barr is your builder !!!!
