My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

About Us

Blackburn Architects specializes in the adaptive reuse of historic buildings, particularly barns, as well as new architectural designs and site master plans for residential and equestrian clients. The firm's work over 30 years spans all genres; designs are correct for a "sense of place" and area of the country. Classical, traditional and modern designs produced by the firm's designers have earned many national and international awards. Founder John Blackburn, along with a talented team including in-house designers Ian Kelly and Carol Vanderbosch, produces imaginative solutions tailored to each client’s needs and aesthetic. Located in the historic Dupont Circle neighborhood in downtown Washington, DC.

I worked with John Blackburn's office on a ground up house he designed. John was absolutely wonderful to work with, including the architects at his office. John is a truly talented architect and has a kind respectful personality - a pleasure to be around! John and his architectural staff worked collaboratively with my interior design office. The design process was extremely organized - moving at an excellent pace. I was impressed at how beautifully we worked wth us. If you are considering Blackburn Architects look no further. I highly recommend John Blackburn and his team!
