I could not be happier with my new Black Diamond patio. From start to finish Stephanie, my designer and project manager, was on top of it. She was prompt and full of information from our first consultation. During the design process she always responded quickly to my questions or additional requests. We signed the contract and they started the project a few weeks later as promised. As the project progressed and things came up she worked with Alfredo, the installer, to make adjustments and adaptations. Stephanie came every few days to check on the progress. Alfredo’s crew were the hardest working group I have ever seen. They arrived each morning on time, worked non stop all day everyday to get the job done in the time promised. Our front yard landscaping project was just completed in July and we couldn't be more pleased. We wanted to replace an old concrete driveway, widen and replace an old brick walkway with pavers and hoped for a beautiful design for a planter feature, artificial turf, landscaping and low voltage lighting! From the first time we met the designer from Black Diamond (Sahar), we knew we were in good hands. She was absolutely amazing from the beginning of the project to the final day. She came up with an incredible design that changed the front of my home to my dream home. She listened to everything that we wanted and offered more because she is such an artist! I love the front of my house during the day and can't wait until the evening because of the beautiful lighting up my walkway on beneath the steps to my porch. We could not be happier and our neighbors keep stopping by complimenting our home. I also should note that the project was completed ahead of schedule and the workers cleaned up perfectly every day. My wife and I hired Black Diamond Paver Stones to install new pavers on driveway and side yard on our home in Pebble Beach. We didn’t know exactly what we wanted or needed to make everything flow. Frances, the designer and project manager, did a great job. She was always reachable and kept in touch on a regular basis. Suri and Carlos, the workers behind the vision, were on the job five to six days every week until the job was completed. This is a backbreaking job and these guys are hard workers. This was a large job with multiple variables and options. Along with the pavers we also needed plumbing, electrical and landscaping to bring the final project together to look, work, and feel great. Black Diamond did a phenomenal job on paving and landscaping at my house. They were professional and top notch from start to finish. Our backyard project is better than I expected. Thanks in part to Black Diamond. I contacted several other companies prior and knew right away from meeting Rocco I wanted them. From the first meeting to the last day Rocco kept in contact with us. We had a rough plan for our project, and I thought we'd need several companies to complete it. But they handled all aspects, including pavers, irrigation, lawn, and lighting. Rocco had great suggestions throughout the project and really listened to what I wanted the finished product to provide and look like. He's very professional and just a really nice person, even taking one of my calls while on a family trip. The workers were all respectful of our property and maintained a clean space throughout the 3 week project. Rocco was able to coordinate with 2 other work crews on our property and met with them both at our request. Black Diamond offers a great warranty on their work and we felt the price was in line with the quality. I am very happy with my beautiful new backyard. And I am so pleased I chose Black Diamond and that Rocco was our project manager.

Rocco, the project manager sketched out the plan for my backyard hard scape just how I envisioned it. He was very responsive to all my queries and concerns in a timely manner. The crew was amazing. We first heard of Black Diamond from receiving fliers in our mailbox. When we finally made the decision to renovate our backyard, we contacted them for a consult and from our very first meeting with Jeremy Ousset, we were convinced that he was the one that was going to bring our vision to life. We had a very rough sketch of what we wanted, and Jeremy was able to incorporate it into a beautiful design. We were unsure of which specific styles and colors, but Jeremy met with us several times at multiple locations and brought materials to our home so we could see them first hand before we made a decision. Once the work began, Jeremy frequently visited our home to ensure the materials and the work being done was correct and on schedule. In some cases, it wasn’t, and he was quick to resolve the issues so there would not be a delay in the project. The team was great about keeping the mess to a minimum and securing the space to ensure individuals that weren’t supposed to be on our property weren’t able to enter. The team was also mindful of our family, and always coordinated “loud” times with us to avoid disruptions in our schedules. There were several occasions when we discovered additional work needed to be done, but it was outside of Black Diamond’s scope. Jeremy was very knowledgeable and was able to refer other vendors to us, who were also great! A few months after completion, we noticed some of the pavers settled and we needed touch up to fill up some of the gaps. The team came back soon after we notified them to assess and brought the materials over that was needed for the touch up. We are very happy with the results and the continued service we receive. We host gatherings in our new backyard often and have received many compliments. We hope to be able to remodel our front yard in the future and plan to use Black Diamond again.

I am very satisfied with the driveway, stairs, garden pavers and wall. I only wish I did this years ago! Our neighbors love it too. David Weissenberg (Novato location) our Designer/Project manager started the process with a detailed design. He has a very good design sense and was very helpful finding the pavers I was seeking. He was always available for questions and changes both before and during the project. Abner (foreman) and Ale (project coordinator) kept things on track (completion was days before the estimated time). The crew were skilled craftsmen, respectful, steady, and hard working. Black Diamond is a professional company. I am happy the process was smooth and the end product is beautiful.

Ron from Diamondback Landscaping helped me design and plan the remove the front and backyard of all the grass, trees, bushes, brick and cement. Also eliminate an in ground jacuzzi and replace everything with artificial grass raised garden backyard patio and pavement stones with a fire pit area the project turned out better than I had expected, Ron would show up every day make sure would run smoothly and assist in any changes that I we would need, I appreciate the ease that it was to work with diamondback landscaping, Ron Geronimo is highly professional, friendly and considerate, I would recommend him for anyone looking for beautiful landscaping needs.

When I booked the consultation to figure out what to do with my sloped backyard, all I said to her was 1 sentence and she, right away, knew exactly what to do (building a retaining wall/ paver patio) along with all the materials I'd want. I was told it would take three weeks, but it was completed in one week as everything went very smoothly! There was no hidden fees, no surprises, no conflicts. The price was very reasonable. I have worked with Elton Pang from Black Diamond. I can't speak more highly of Elton. He is very prompt. He answered our calls and messages even in evening or weekends right away. He is super patient and accommodating. I have changed the design four times throughout the project and I have never heard any one "No". He is professional and knowledgeable. He controlled every steps of the work and shared the progress with us every day. His plan drawing was accurate and detailed, which helped me to go through the HOA review without any issue. His team is very detail oriented. They care every small parts of the work such as wiring lines and shaping pavers, which raises the level of perfection of their work! They were always on time and friendly. Black Diamond provides warranty for 27 years. I had a very serious drain problem in my patio. The warranty definitely gave me a relief that Elton and his team will address the issue if I face a drain problem again. I am excitedly waiting for the rainy season this year. I will come back to leave another review after the season. I have already recommended Elton to my friends and neighbors. I will definitely find him again if I have any more landscaping work to do.

We recently had pavers installed and landscaping redone in our backyard. We were so lucky to have worked with Tracy Dillon, she was amazing from day one! Our backyard transformation could not have been smoother and looks even better than we could have imagined. The crew she brought in was so professional and worked so hard every day. It was an incredible experience all around! We now have many years to enjoy our lovely space.

We hired Black Diamond for a very large project: A complete redo of our front and back yards. Yet not long after beginning our project, we realized our mistake. From the beginning, our project was plagued by an absence of governance, poor quality workmanship and a lack of project management. In hindsight, the warning signs were present from the beginning. The contract was poorly written with egregious terms. For example, buried deep is language that voids the warranty of the driveway pavers should a common pickup truck drive on them. Even after the contract's execution, Black Diamond gave little regard to its terms. For example, even though we negotiated the pricing of prospective contract modifications and included these details in our contract, they billed us according to their normal (higher) rates. When it came to the project buildout itself, we experienced a litany of issues and aggravations from the beginning through the end, including: removal of the wrong plants on our property that we wanted to keep; garbage and litter strewn throughout the worksite and into the street; poor quality craftsmanship, incorrectly designed and installed items and drainage; damaged personal property; replacement of defective parts with more defective parts; sewage from the porta potty; and on and on. Perhaps the core problem with Black Diamond is that it's hard to know where the "buck stops". Black Diamond subcontracts the primary on-site work to other landscape construction firms. Thus, we thought that one of Black Diamond's value-adds would be project management, including managing the subcontractor by overseeing their work, double-checking their work quality, and ensuring we received a high-quality deliverable according to specifications. Yet when quality of work issues arose, as they did frequently, Black Diamond seem to put little effort into quality control. When we brought problems to Black Diamond's attention, it seems their sole action was to simply pass along our words to the subcontractor. This made us wonder what it was we were paying for with Black Diamond. It would have saved significant money and perhaps even improved the project had we simply hired a subcontractor directly. Since completion, we've repeatedly had problems with poorly built drainage, front yard flooding, and stunted plants that were either defective when planted or planted incorrectly. Black Diamond took photos of the yard and sent somebody with a garden hose to flush the drainage, neither of which resolved the issues. We write this review reluctantly. This yard project was the retirement dream of an elderly man. We desperately wanted to love it. But the fact is, dealing with Black Diamond was tedious, exhausting, stressful, and disappointing. It was an eight-month source of anxiety and stress. We hope that our words prompt prospective customers to give more consideration to alternatives to Black Diamond, a suggestion we wish we had received in advance of our selection.

Our driveway and new walkway pavers were installed by Black Diamond Pavers. It was a pleasure working with Michael Gurtler, POC, and his team lead by Oscar Vallejo. Everyone was very patient and responsive to all our questions. Mike kept us informed throughout the project and all issues that arose were addressed to our complete satisfaction. They delivered on what was promised. We can confidentially say we made the right choice in hiring Black Diamond for our project.

We hired Black Diamond to re-landscape our front yard and back yard and we are very satisfied with the quality of the work. Our designer and project manager, Sahar, is amazing. I will admit this review is long, but that’s because we were SO happy with Black Diamond. TLDR (Too Long Didn’t Read): Don’t hesitate! Hire Black Diamond and ask for Dan Jolly as your designer/project manager along with Leo Rodriquez as your landscaper and Carlos Carvalho for hardscape. You won’t be disappointed and you’ll be so glad you did! To give you some background, my husband and I moved into a new construction home with just dirt (and soon weeds) as our backyard. We have always dreamed of a modern Japanese garden inspired backyard that was drought tolerant and low maintenance. We also just wanted to do a minor upgrade to our front yard since what was put in by the builder just wasn’t cutting it for us. Dan was one of the first designers we had out to talk ideas. He was great at listening to our needs and wants while suggesting ideas we might not have thought about (which is what we wanted). While we did interview a few other designers/companies, no one could competed with Dan’s immense knowledge for both hardscape and landscape. Dan did a fantastic job on our design, really bringing everything we talked about to life. Once we signed the contract, we were fortunate enough to start work really quickly afterwards! Dan was great at communicating with us often by text/phone call throughout the entire process on updates, timelines, and any minor changes if needed. He was always gracious with my numerous questions and texts. During the work, Dan often came by each day (even multiple times a day) to make sure things were progressing as planned and to make sure no details were amiss. We really appreciated Dan’s attention to detail and working with us every step of the way to make sure every rock, tree, and plant was exactly where we wanted it and we were happy with everything. Dan was just an absolute pleasure to work with. We went with pavers for our three patio areas and boy, were we impressed with Carlos Carvalho and his crew. They made sure every paver was in its proper place, level, and cut to the exact fit when needed! We had A LOT of pavers in our design and we were amazed how fast they were without cutting any corners on quality! We absolutely loved the look of the pavers when they were all done. Leo Rodriquez and his crew took care of our landscaping and he was magnificent to work with. Like Dan and Carlos, Leo paid very close attention to the details when laying every layer of our landscape. We had a dry creek bed in both the front and back yards, and the crew made it look like a creek bed had been running through there all along! Leo himself was just a delight to work with. He kept us updated on his crew’s progress and also made sure we were happy with the results every step of the way. He always had a smile on his face and was always warm with us and our toddler. Honestly, we’d adopt him as our uncle if we could! Not that we will be needing any landscaping work anytime soon due to the wonderful job the entire team did, but if we ever do need work done in the future, we already know who we will be calling. Thank you again to everyone at Black Diamond who made our dream yard come true. :)

This is a 5 star review for work that wasn't done by Black Diamond! When I requested a bid for a paver retaining wall, David Kingsbury/the firm assessed our slope and, while giving me a written bid, suggested that other less expensive options by other contractors would better serve our needs. I appreciated the firm's honesty. They were not out to make a buck at any cost and I appreciated their integrity. I would definitely consider the firm again if we ever need paver or similar services.

Black Diamond Pavers did an excellent job installing pavers in our driveway and front door steps. It absolutely looks better than we had even imagined. Our project manager Mike was involved in the installation every step of the way, making sure we were happy with the progress, etc. The crew was professional, and kept us informed regarding the process. Black Diamond completed hardscaping and landscaping project for our front and backyard. Our yard had been long neglected and the demo was a lot of work. We had to get 3 huge trees removed by another company and had a major plumbing job happening at the same time. Edie was so wonderful managing through all aspects of the project. Edie was responsive and flexible with changes we ended up wanting to make to the design. When we were having a hard time making decisions, she helped us with suggestions and recommendations. She stopped by our place daily (sometimes twice a day) to make sure the project was moving along smoothly. Alfredo, the head of the construction crew, was also great. We did not want the cap of the retainer wall in the middle of the backyard to be too wide. Alfred figured out a way to make it as narrow as possible and made it work! We were also particular about the height of the wall, but Alfred was really nice to work with us. We are extremely happy with how both our front and backyard turned out . The project took a bit longer than the original estimate mainly because of the dependencies with other projects we had going (2.5 months), but the project was smooth and pleasant all the way. We spend so much more time in the backyard, and I wish we worked with Edie & Alfredo much sooner! Even after the project was completed, we became a bit concerned about the parts of the front yard not getting enough water. Both Edie and Alfredo came back to diagnose the issue. When one of our cars leaked oil and left some stains on the brand new driveway, Alfredo's crew was so kind to replace the paver with new ones. Excellent quality of service. Highly recommend Black Diamond (Edie/Alfredo) for hardscaping/landscaping projects!

Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape, exceeded my expectations. The project manager Rocco is AMAZING! He was efficient, walked me through each step of the project, his communication was transparent, he worked within a timely manner to meet my deadline to complete the job. His team was very hardworking - worked even on a Sunday. Unfortunately we had unexpected heavy rain, Rocco gaged the weather forecast in advance of the rain would then send his team out during the hours of dry forecast. He did everything possible to have the work completed timely and efficiently. Needless to say he met my deadline and I was a happy customer. I'd definitely use Black Diamond on the next phase of my back yard stone pavement.

Over time, our front and back yards had turned into unsightly brown areas of dead grass and weeds – it was time for a total landscaping make-over. The first landscaping contractor we contacted was Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscaping where we met Rocco Pent, Assistant Regional Manager and Senior Project Design Specialist/Project Manager. During the initial site visit, which lasted 5 hours, we explained our design ideas, preferences, options and requirements. As we walked around the front and back yards, Rocco took detailed measurements of the prospective layout and then helped us think through in the pros and cons of our initial design and landscaping material choices. Rocco helped us refine our initial concept with the design and materials that worked best for our front and back yards, taking into consideration our existing mature landscaping and the look and feel of the rest of our property so everything would be integrated and cohesive. He came up with creative solutions to solve some of the challenges that would be encountered with our overall design. It became immediately clear to us that Rocco (and Black Diamond) had the understanding, knowledge, skill, and experience in all the critical elements of our landscaping project. At the end of the visit, Rocco entered the key data from his survey into his computer and presented us with a detailed rendering of the project. He explained each element of the design – from demolition to site preparation to product installation – together with pricing. The project (19 July to 07 August 2023) finished on time, and both the process and outcome exceeded our expectation, which we set very high from the outset. We were impressed with the high quality of work, particularly the installation of the artificial grass and the pavers. I highly recommend Black Diamond and am so very pleased with the work they did in our backyard. We worked with David and we cannot say enough good things about him. Project details - Our backyard has a steep incline with a large semi-flat area at the base. It was pure mud and weeds when we began. We had a severe drainage issue and were looking to maximize the flat area. We ultimately landed on 180 ft of linear retaining wall (3.5ft high), French drains installed behind the wall, 1,900 Sq ft of pavers with set-in drainage throughout, a 5 step slab staircase, 1k sqft of mulch beds (playground grade), fruit trees and a drip line. Meeting/Design phase - We met with several local companies and knew instantly that Black Diamond was the choice. They have a very good reputation and are known for their high quality work. David was our project manager and is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, responsive and just all around a great guy. We planned to start work in February 2023, which had historic rainfall that delayed the project. We didn’t actually start work until the end of May. In that time period we made about 30 design change requests (sorry David). David was extremely responsive and understanding with each one of these requests. Our final design was a result of David’s expertise and attention to detail. Construction Phase - A 2-6 man crew worked 6 days a week 8am to 5pm. All crew members were very friendly, professional and kept a very clean work site. The crew removed and replaced a section of our fence each day to accommodate our dog and small children. Materials were delivered multiple times throughout the project and were always on time (no delays to work). There were a few instances where we asked for changes to the work that had been done and each one was met with grace and quick remediation. End result - It is better than we imagined. It was a big project that completely transformed our backyard. We will definitely be using Black Diamond for future projects. The price for the project was similar to other quotes we received and David worked hard to help us stay on budget. It was definitely worth the investment. David - As mentioned earlier, we cannot say enough good things. He was on site everyday, treated his crew with tons of respect, was knowledgable, friendly, responsive and just lovely to have around. We’ve already invited him over for a BBQ in the new backyard.

I got pavers installed by Black Diamond in January. From the moment I met with their project manager (Rocco), I knew this was the right company for the work. Rocco prepared a 3D design, and we discussed options. Having someone design the final outcome was a big deal maker for me. Other companies provided quotes with no design, I was always wondering how it would look at the end. He also helped me getting an affordable option, so I could consider Black Diamond among other providers. Michael Martinez and the crew at Black Diamond were wonderful. Michael was in close contact from start to finish, and visited my backyard site regularly. The crew worked quickly but meticulously in creating two new staircases in my very steep terraced yard. It was not an easy job but the work was done skillfully and with attention to detail. The site was left clean. I couldn’t be more pleased with the quality of the work that was done. I highly recommend Black Diamond!

The Project Manager, Ryan, was just amazing. My backyard project was not the biggest or the fanciest, I had a budget and wanted to create something for my children to play on. Ryan and Black Diamond worked with me and made everything work out. He didn't make me feel like my project was too small or that I couldn't afford to go all out - he made me feel like my project still mattered to them. I've gotten quotes higher and lower than Black Diamond, but at the end I chose them because they made me feel comfortable. They are not the cheapest or the most expensive, but honestly they are the best I've worked with as I've remodeled my home in different aspects over the years. And that crew that worked with Ryan - Rigo and his team, they were great. Just respectable, on time and overall professional. Thank you again Black DiamondRyan, and Rigo & Crew. You all have been amazing and I cannot wait to use the new space you have created for my family. Edit to my last review: Be sure to understand everything about the area you selected and the work you had done. Because I rested on the professionals for advice and knowledge, I was left with a partially damaged area that I didn't know could happen based on design (I'm not an artificial turf expert). They would not assist without charging me. Be careful with the words of "warranty" on their work or products.

We worked with David Kingsbury out of Santa Cruz Black Diamond for our project in Aptos. The project was a large driveway demo and installation of pavers as well as removal and expansion of our front patio. We also removed all lawn and replaced with drought proof landscaping and artificial turf. We used blue stone pavers for the patio. In total, the job took about 7 weeks. During this time, David and his crew, led by Suri, were amazing. David kept daily communication with us and the team. We discussed possible issues and solutions with David and Suri throughout the project. They handled the entire job from demolition of our driveway and yard, removal of all concrete and debris, grading, paving, rebuilding our patio wall and setting blue stone tiles with grout. What I respected most about David was his ability to consult with his Black Diamond team to make sure we were getting the best possible answers to our questions. He was honest and truthful - we never felt like we were getting hustled or cheated. I would highly recommend David, his crew and Black Diamond.

Rocco and team completely renovated our backyard, replacing a couple of old, cracked, concrete slabs and some dirt/grass with a paver patio, seating walls, artificial turf, a pergola, and spotlights. Rocco was excellent to work with. He was very clear in his communication about schedule, materials, etc and helped tremendously in the design of the project. The only issue we had was discovered after the project had been complete for a few months, when the rains returned. The drainage outlet was too close in elevation to the patio drains, and water was pooling on the patio. A quick call with Rocco got that fixed quickly. The true test of a company doesn't happen when things go perfectly. It happens when things don't go perfectly and how they respond. Black Diamond aced this test.

My husband and I are really happy with the job David K and crew created in our front yard. I still can't believe this is my house every time I pull into our driveway. I feel confident to recommend David to completely take care of you through whatever your landscaping job may be. David was very helpful in suggesting options for making our space beautiful, while keeping the upkeep minimal. It is nice to work with someone that truly cares. The crew is knowledgeable and even came back a few weeks later to install the fountain that arrived late. Jim answers all email promptly and a we had a horticultural visit too. We just completed a backyard renovation Black Diamond Pavers. They did an excellent job installing pavers and turf. We recently completed our front yard and driveway renovation with Black Diamond Pavers and were assigned to their designer, Tyler and sub contractor Ricardo. After interviewing 3 other local companies, it was clear to my husband and I that Tyler was the most professional, knowledgeable and customer oriented. Tyler lives and breathes his passion. We wanted to be informed every day on every decision and Tyler and Ricardo were very available and responsive by text or phone call for every question or concern we had. Black Diamond is not the cheapest bid, but I do not want to imagine how our project would have turned out if not in the hands of Tyler and Ricardo. Tyler has a gift. He sees potential and beauty in the ugly. Our home was once a major eyesore... but is now the diamond on our street! Throughout the renovation and once completed, we have had cars stop in the middle of the street to gawk at our front yard as it went through its transformation. Many, many neighbors have dropped by to ask for the name of our contractor. The details and work ethic of Ricardo are evident in the walls, the driveway, the walkway and the softscape. They were also evident in how meticulous he and his crew cleaned up at the end of every work day. As with any project, unforeseen issues will arise and how your contractor addresses those challenges dictates largely how the client experiences the work relationship, the process, and ultimately the end product. Tyler and Ricardo demonstrated teamwork marked with integrity, honesty, and responsibility. As with any project, we had a few setbacks that could have soured the experience. However, with every issue we encountered, Tyler and Ricardo both took ownership of their work and responsibilities. We highly recommend them because of the gorgeous curb appeal our home now shows off. However, just as important was their trustworthiness, as that is what mattered when faced with challenges.

I highly recommend Black Diamond. This is the second job they have completed for us. We recently had our driveway and walkway to our front yard done. It took extra time to get paving materials, however, Bruce kept us informed the entire time and was there from initial design of project to the finished project. We have gotten many compliments on our driveway and they were attentive to every detail.

I highly recommend Black Diamond!! From the start of the process with getting a quote to the final product, everything was handled so professionally. The amazing team who helped us build our dream patio was David Weissenberg (Project Design Specialist), Ingrid (Project Coordinator), and Venturo + his work crew. David is very personable and knowledgeable, and he made sure we were satisfied throughout every step of the project, while Ingrid kept us up-to-date leading up to the start of the project. Venturo and his crew are extremely hard-working and were able to build our massive patio within a week. Their craftsmanship is outstanding; the patio is absolutely gorgeous! Black Diamond also comes with a 27-year warranty, which gives me peace-of-mind knowing that the huge investment I put into the patio will be protected. All in all, Black Diamond is an excellent company to work with because they value their customers and produce high-quality work!

We had new pavers installed in our back yard surrounding our pool and we are so happy with the way they turned out. We worked with Rocco Pent to come up with the materials and the design. From the beginning of the project, he was very helpful, informative, and pleasant to work with. Always quick with responses to questions. He brought us samples to help us visualize our design. The actual work was completed very quickly and cleanup was good. Our pool is kidney-shaped, so that made for some very customized stone cutting. The workmanship was excellent. All in all, we are pleased with Black Diamond and we would recommend them.

We worked with Julie Tipton for our front and backyard landscape project. Right from designing, to picking the plants to getting the work done and clean-up, it was a smooth and painless experience. The work was completed on time. Julie has an excellent eye for detail. She tweaked the design and plant plan according to our tastes. We are thrilled with the results!

Our experience with the Black Diamond consultation service was simple and painless. Lacy was very communicative and offered great design advice. We did not move forward with our project for personal reasons, but would love to in the future.

I am a stickler for good customer service. I will pay a premium for good service and reliability. The thing with Black Diamond is that I got the great service at a better price than the other guys. Before we started our project we vetted a few paving companies. We wanted the works- new floor, gazebo removal, electric line, jacuzzi installation, etc. One of the paving companies we even interviewed recommended we go with Black Diamond. So we reached out to them and ended up going with them. From the start the service was great. Rocco went above and beyond to walk us through everything, make us feel comfortable with our decision and manage the project to our standards. Jose and his team were also phenomenal. They were super quick. The project ETA was about 3-4 weeks and they were done in less than 5 days. The biggest hold up was on our end- trying to get an electrician to run a line under the pavers. Would strongly STRONGLY recommend black diamond for any project you have

We really needed help with our backyard. We needed a complete landscape including a pergola. We had contacted three different companies and happily decided on Black Diamond. I contacted Tony Baumgartner who got back to me right away. Black Diamond's price was quite reasonable considering. It was not the lowest or highest price. The customer service Tony provided was excellent. We weren't sure exactly what we should do but we wanted something low maintenance. Tony did an excellent job talking us through what we wanted and providing a GREAT design that we are enjoying every day. The Black Diamond staff was talented, quick, neat and very easy to work with. Note: As soon as we had finished the yard a huge storm with extremely high winds blew a couple of the new trees a bit sideways. I contacted Black Diamond and they were out the next day to fix the storm damage and double stake the trees even though it was not their fault! It is for all of the above reasons that I highly recommend Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape.

I love my back patio. I have a small area that needed to be updated and from initial consultation with Rocco & from start to finish of project, it was great. They worked with my moving schedule due to some personal reasons and finished the project timely. Rocco was here checking in with me throughout. Joel (crew) was very hard working, polite and courteous. Home projects can be messy, hard, and frustrating. However, You can't go wrong with Black Diamond and Rocco. Thanks for a great experience.

This is the second project that they have done for us, and we will surely use them again for any other project we have. I decided to have Black Diamond install about 400 sf of paving stones in my backyard after a referral from my friend. Lacey came to my house and provided me with an estimate on what I was looking for. Lacey was very professional and provided me with her personal ideas and opinions on what would look the best. I highly recommend using Black Diamond and Lacey’s team.

We had Black Diamond install our travertine patio around our pool and landscape around the patio. Our experience was fair during the construction (almost all of the plants died, poor watering solutions that needed to be repaired, patio not set flush at the end the project on 1/2 of the patio needing them to come out and replace then again), and now 3 years later, we have a bit of a mess with roots that were note removed at the time of installation growing back and under the pavers and under the concrete slab. Had to pay $2500 for workers come out and remove the extensive root system that was not removed when they tilled the dirt. everything now pulled out again... would not use them again.

Michael Martinez was the 4th paver contractor we contacted. He was the best at capturing what we were envisioning. Irving, his foreman, and their crew were exceptionally hard working and did great work. They started weeks earlier than expected. Any issues we had were addressed quickly and to our satisfaction. I'd highly recommend Michael, Irving and Black Diamond.

We recently went through a backyard renovation with Black Diamond. Our project manager was Bruce and the foreman was Rafael. We received three bids for our project and planned on getting a fourth. After hearing the project proposal and discussing price with Bruce we felt confident with going with Black Diamond. Black Diamond was able to turn our concrete jungle of a back yard into a nicely leveled area, complete with grass and beautiful pavers. Communication is key in projects like this and both Bruce and Rafael are good at making sure the homeowner is aware of what's going on with project from beginning to end. I would recommend this team for any outdoor landscaping project.

I truly would like to recommend Michael Martinez, designer/consultant/project manager, his crew led by Irving & office assistant Travis. I needed clean and spacious paved area for my kiddos. And they did the best for us. Michael had tried to give me advice at each phase, those were super helpful. Frankly I was particular about landscaping for my yard. I didn’t like any other projects from other companies in bay area. Some are old-fashioned, the others are too plain. I wanted contemporary and low maintenance style. When I communicated with Michael at first time, he caught my dream plan. So happy to have wonderful backyard thanks to him.

When we finally decided to do pavers for the front of our home, we were very lucky to casually stubble (funny story) into Rocco Pent! Great all around guy! I received multiple estimates but I was very impressed with Rocco's honesty, attention to detail, presentation, knowledge, and professionalism. We had an amazing experience with Rocco Pent as our Design Consultant. We initially met with Rocco in December 2019 to design our outdoor living space. While we had a good idea of what we thought we wanted, Rocco spent numerous hours with us refining the design, and made some key recommendations that have become some of our favorite features. Over the course of the next several months, his vision, patience, humor and kindness helped us create the perfect backyard oasis. His knowledge and expertise, along with the many resources he helped us with, were instrumental to our project. He connected us with pergola, artificial turf, and landscape lighting vendors. All construction projects have minor hiccups, but Rocco helped alleviate the stress of many of those that happened during ours. It was truly a pleasure working with Rocco and we highly recommend him. If we ever do another project, we will definitely work with Rocco again.

I just finished getting my patio and walk paved with Black Diamond. And like many others on here, I first got quotes from two other companies and BD was much cheaper. That said, I was sold on BD because of the low pressure and attentive service from Peter Smith, the Rep. Unlike the other two, he listed to my suggestions and when appropriate improved them with his own. The work was done professionally and on budget, with no change orders. The actual work was incredibly detailed and professional, with the edging and risers done perfectly. Peter was there almost every evening to supervise and when appropriate make changes. At the end of the project my patio and yard were transformed. Worth every damn penny!

I had the pleasure of working with Ray and Julie on a very tight-budget project, but I did not receive low -budget service, and my yard came out beautifully!! I received multiple quotes and had multiple interactions with different backyard landscape companies before going with BD, choosing them ultimately because of their authentic customer service during our first few interactions. I felt like they cared about their service and product and it made my husband and I feel confident to sign the contract. We never felt rushed or pressured throughout the process, and ultimately I felt that enough trust was built for me to give full reigns to BD to basically do whatever they wanted so long as it was within our budget. Ray is a patient saint, to say the least, e-mailing with me back and forth for literally over a year until I saved up to begin the project. And Julie was very helpful in picking out "investment" landscaping for our yard-- the bushes and trees will grow nice and big within the next few years, creating an private oasis my husband and I wanted since moving in to a house with a very exposed backyard. She also helped me nurse my lemon tree back to life, and offered to come back to learn more about what we can plant and how to take care of our future plant babies! We're so thrilled with our yard and cannot wait to see what it will grow into!

After getting quotes from several other paver companies, Black Diamond Paver stood out immediately. Julie Mohr was our Project Design Specialist, she had the perfect combination of professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness. She listened to our needs and offered great design and material suggestions that fit within our budget. Unlike some of the other companies, she never pressured or bullied us into choosing anything. She geniunely seemed like a nice person who wanted to help us rather than just sell us something. When she quoted our project, I was impressed with her attention to detail. Her knowledge and experience shined as she offered suggestions to address the challenge of our sloping property line and her background in horticulture was so helpful when choosing the plants for our project. She actually met with us at green acres and made suggestions for plants to use in our project and how to maintain them after installation. She also met us at a paver yard so we could see all the materials in person before making our final descions. From beginning to end she was there to guide us and make sure the project was running smoothly. The Black Diamond Paver team was very professional and worked efficiently only during designated hours. We love our new yard! Jim Roberts did an excellent job designing the yard and coordinating the project for us. We are very particular and ask a lot of questions, and Jim was always very responsive and patient with us. When several of our new plants died (having been planted right before a terrible heatwave), the landscapers came back to replace them and adjust the water line. We couldn't be happier! We are so very happy and pleased with the finished product it turned better then what we imagined. Our front yard has a spectacular curb appeal and our back yard is like an oasis. We went through Black Diamond Landscape in Sacramento on 1111 Howe Avenue. Lacy Venezuela was the landscape consultant we worked with from the beginning to the very end. Lacy is very knowledgeable in her field and she offered us a wide variety of ideas for the project. Our project consisted of beautiful paver stone and high quality state of the art synthetic grass with Lacy's designs. The crew were very courteous and clean. Our house project was substantial, a complete redo of pavers and natural areas in the front and back yards. We wanted to make sure we had a reputable company that could handle the work. We selected Black Diamond who assigned Julie Tipton, Senior Project Designer. Julie was unbelievable!!! She is a gifted designer, knowledgeable about all parts of the job, and able to call on all the deep resources of Black Diamond. When we would hit a problem, she would use her influence and tenacity to work through the issues. Also, she made the project fun. I hated dealing with the house contractors but loved Julie. Her combination of humor and competency made her a joy to work with. If you're going to do a big project, Julie is your gal!!

Just finished the fourth job our family members have contracted with Black Diamond at three different properties and they were great again from design to clean-up doing driveways, patios, retaining walls and walkways. Since our family does not get along so well, we needed a landscaper skilled not only in his trade but also in working with people. Fortunately we discovered Michael Martinez of Black Diamond. He quickly produced a plan consistent with our aesthetic hopes and budgetary constraints and then patiently helped us remove junk that was blocking the start of the project. Once we got underway, when disagreements arose, he would take time to visit us and clarify what was feasible. From the getgo, Michael and his crew, led by Irving, were committed not to take sides but to produce a beautiful yard that would please all of us. And they succeeded!

Black Diamond did an amazing job replacing our cracked cement porch with beautiful pavers. They also gave us new stairs, retaining wall and did a great job on landscaping. Edgar led the construction/ landscaping team. He was easy to work with and did an excellent job. He even came back a couple months later when a couple of the plants failed to transplant. Carol was our designer and point person. She came to our house throughout the process and worked with us to get exactly what we wanted. The final cost came in very close to the original estimate. I hihgly recommend them.

My experience with Black Diamond, which included TonyB and GenoG was that of a well-run business. They treat customers fairly and with respect. They make it clear what they will do, they do it to a high level, and at a fair price. TonyB was on top of the details, and there were many. He kept the pipeline of personnel and materials needed at the site arriving in a timely manner. TonyB treated me fairly throughout the process, including with the occasional Change Orders. When there were differences of opinion, I always felt that when discussing these differences with TonyB or GenoG, that they respected my opinion and would do their level best to accommodate me, or when not possible they would explain clearly why not. I greatly appreciated their no sales-ish bs. These guys work with you rather than trying to manipulate you by making promises that they can’t or won’t deliver. In summary, I doubt that I could have done any better than Black Diamond, TonyB, and GenoG. I'm absolutely sure that I could have done worse, and I have the financial scars to prove it, since I had to fire my first contractor after an absolutely disastrous experience, which still has not been resolved. My comments regarding Black Diamond come from very direct and hard learned experience. These guys are good!

We highly recommend Black Diamond. From the beginning, they were very professional and pleasure to work with. We replaced our front yard with paved stones, drought tolerant landscaping, and lighting. Thea French was our designer and her high energy and love for her profession really sold us on contracting with them. Since we didn't have a clear idea of what we wanted, she gave us lots of suggestions and guided us through the whole process. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but Thea walked us through patiently and was very informative. Once we signed the contract, the work started immediately. Thea, Columba, and Raymundo, like a great team that they are, scheduled and coordinated the work very well. Throughout the project, Thea came by often to check the progress and informed us on what to expect in the next phase of the project. Raymundo and his paving team are artists. The painstaking attention to detail given for each cut of stones to carefully laying them perfectly in their spot was amazing to watch! Once the stones were paved, Thea shined even more. She chose great assortment of plants that are drought tolerant and look beautiful together. Can't wait for them to grow and fill out! It has been couple months since the project finished, and Thea still checks in to ask how the plants are doing. She already came by once to replace couple plants that weren't too happy with their shady plot. All in all, it was a pleasure to work with Black Diamond and we would absolutely recommend them.

I had a contractor leave me with a very dangerous fall hazard in my yard and called Black Diamond to help solve the problem. I was lucky that they assigned Michael Martinez, who spent considerable time coming up with a plan to fix it. I was concerned about mixing existing stone with pavers, but thankfully it came out amazing. He made additional structural improvements along the way and didn't try to nickel and dime. Problem solved! After the job was completed and paid in full, Michael had my driveway power washed. That was totally unexpected as all other contractors have left me with black tire marks. I give Black Diamond 5 stars and am recommending Michael to my friends for a job done beyond my expectations!

Our projects manager was Jim Roberts and from the start to the end of the project, he was very professional and prompt with any questions. Also the team did an excellent work and stuck to the initial cost, as promised. We were adding to our existing patio and they did a great job making it look seamless. Amazing work! These people are REALLY good at what they do. They were clean, professional, and went above and beyond! A+++ Ray was amazing - he did everything that he said he would and more, he was communicative (we received texts and email updates as well as personal phone calls to make sure we were happy with the process), professional, friendly, and caring. I can't say enough about how happy I am with they way they look. They were even caring enough to make sure that the surface was even with our ramp entry so my wheelchair would not "catch" when I rolled over it. Our job was a bit complicated, but they were efficient with their time and worked VERY hard! It was done in TWO days! I couldn't believe the transformation it such a SHORT period of time. I'm so pleased with the results! I HIGHLY recommend working with Ray and this company!

Michael Martinez and his team were amazing. Michael was a tremendous help in choosing the design and stone and we couldn't be more pleased with the results! The retaining wall with its soft lights not only corrals our hill but makes it lovely and inviting. The circle and walk ways are wonderful! Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape Inc. is a 10/10 company for your backyard needs! Let me being by sharing what we hoped to accomplish. My wife and I have a medium size backyard and had a patch of dirt to the left and a whole slab of concrete to the right. Nothing special indeed. We reached out to Black Diamond and we were connected with representative - Julie Tipton! Julie has years of experience in backyard remodeling and she made the whole process seem less! We had a ton of questions ranging from our budget to the color of paver stones. Not a single question went unanswered. On our first meeting, we covered our basic ‘wants and needs’ for our backyard dream. We told Julie that we wanted a dry bar, a pergola, paver stones, fake grass, trees, and a hot-tub. I think the only thing we didn’t want was a helicopter pad haha. Julie then sketched out an amazing design of our dream backyard and told us that she would create a 3D model on a computer program (which was incredible) Moving on to construction, Julie was our point of contact and I didn’t need to speak with anyone else but her and she made everything happen in amazing time. On one of our planning meetings, she told us that construction would take six weeks. It took six weeks to the day - just incredible. My wife and I are truly satisfied customers and would absolutely recommend this company and Julie! (Whom we gladly call a friend of ours). So cast those doubts aside and let Black Diamond help you get your dream backyard!

Michael Martinez is heading up my driveway paver project. He’s been extremely helpful and has helped with every aspect of the job. We had gate people from another company working along side and in conjunction with black diamond pavers and the process is going off without a hitch. I was expecting the project to take weeks and in one day they had almost half the pavers down and looking perfect. I shopped the price around with four other companies. You have to be careful comparing apples to apples. One of the leading companies out there, system pavers had comparable warranty, references and reviews. It was my lucky day when I met Bruce Pressman at the Santa Clara Home Show. After sitting down with Bruce to discuss the extensive changes I wanted, there was no doubt in my mind that I was making the right choice putting my trust in him and in Black Diamond, a Diamond Certified company. Bruce's invaluable guidance and patience with my many indecisions helped me to create exactly what I envisioned. Bruce was at my house each day coordinating with Alvaro and his wonderful hard-working crew, who were here every day until the job was completed, no interruptions to take care of other jobs. My yards were spotless and beautiful when they were finished. Bruce designed a beautiful flow of pavers that connects the front yard to the backyard. I couldn't be happier!

We had a great experience with Black Diamond especially our project manager Julie Bradley. She was very responsive, offered great suggestions, and worked closely with us through our entire project. We are very happy with our driveway and landscaping.

We just had our driveway re-done with pavers from Black Diamond. It was not an easy project. 40 years of old asphalt, layered 6 deep, steep and narrow driveway, trees on all sides and in need of drainage to absorb an entire cul de sac’s rainfall. After interviewing a half dozen driveway specialists, we were referred to Michael Martinez, designer/consultant/project manager at Black Diamond. From the first meeting, we hit it off. He was easy to talk to, friendly, helpful, gave thoughtful consideration to all our driveway’s problems. Michael explained how the process would work and how to best achieve our goals while making our driveway look beautiful as well as functional. We felt very comfortable with their knowledge and expertise regarding drainage, foundation protection for our home, as well as building a small retaining wall with a French drain to withstand winter’s rains. When I said, “I’m not sure how to light this..” Michael devised a lighting system with automatic timers that are both gorgeous and effective for sight at night. Michael, and his crew lead by Irving, worked around our schedule and our neighbors’ to accommodate everyone during the demolition and construction. The entire team was kind, thoughtful and considerate during the renovation; our kids loved seeing them every morning. The other benefit was the price; we worked together to get a fair price that both sides felt good about and I understood what we were paying for. They were without question above and beyond the competitors we interviewed. If we could give 10 stars, we would. The next landscaping project we have, we will call Michael without question.

We didn't end up using Black Diamond. We had Julie Bradley come over to do a consultation where we explained what we were looking for. She listened and took some notes and also took some measurements and scheduled a follow up meeting with us to give us a draft design and quote on price. Our appointment was scheduled for the following Saturday. After 20 minutes past the appointment time I called her and she forgot our appointment and didn't even have it scheduled in her calendar. I thought that was rude given we cleared our morning for the appointment. Based on this poor customer service we decided not to go with black diamond. If they can't even keep appointments I wouldn't trust them to be responsive or responsible throughout the actual project. Update 7/4 We got a call from owner several days after this review was posted. He apologized again for the no show and offered to send us a gift card for our troubles. I told him that it wasn’t necessary, and that this review is an honest description of our experience with the company. He ended up sending the gift card anyway and included a very nice card along with it. Our experience with Black Diamond may have been an outlier, but it did in fact happen. So instead of removing this post, we’re updating the review from 1 stars to 2 stars.

We recently embarked on a reasonably complex backyard renovation which would involve multiple projects, contractors, the city (for permitting) and our HOA. We met with more than a dozen contractors with a full range of bids, and received a plethora of ideas on what they thought we should do in the yard. We wanted someone who could help turn what we wanted in the backyard into a reality. Luckily we were fortunate to meet Michael Martinez who is an award-winning Senior Project Design Specialist, Consultant and Project Manager at Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape. He was the final contractor that we met and he definitely lived up the saying, “saving the best for last”. Michael called before our appointment and kept us in the loop regarding his arrival time for our initial visit out of consideration for our time. Once we met Michael he immediately felt like a member of our family. He is extremely personable, honest and trustworthy with high morals and ethics. At our first meeting Michael took the time to get to know our family, strived to understand the goals and objectives of what we envisioned in our yard and how he could be a part of the solution to overcome some of the challenges in our backyard. He could see the bigger picture and presented design solutions to mitigate project challenges other contractors may encounter later in the job. Michael gave us a design that fulfilled many of the objectives to support the overall goals for our yard. He did an excellent cost to benefit analysis designing smarter which would allow us to get the best value. Considering the design, materials used, scope of project and Michael’s expertise, his bid was very competitive. He made me feel very comfortable, and I knew that the plan was in good hands. Michael checked in often and wanted to start as soon as we received HOA approval. While waiting to obtain permission from our HOA to begin, Michael met with his job foreman Juan and us several times onsite to walk through the project. He contacted our other contractor to ensure everything would come together at the end of the project. We met with him at a hardscape supplier to review our options. Michael is very familiar with hardscape products which were very valuable considering the scale of the proposed work. Receiving approval on a Friday, Michael and his job foreman Juan swooped in on the following Monday. Michael’s on-site crew was always on time and had an excellent work ethic. They started at 8am and concluded at 5pm daily. During their day, there was minimal downtime. We only noted two 15 minute breaks and 30 minutes for lunch. They minimized impact from heavy machinery and constant loads of materials coming and going from the site by covering where possible front yard landscaping with plywood. At the end of each day, Michael’s team would clean up which my neighbors appreciated. He checked in on site daily to ensure the project was progressing smoothly and to address any project concerns or challenges immediately. If we weren’t home he’d provide updates via phone or text. We never felt out of the loop and didn’t have any surprises due to Michael’s excellent communication skills. When weather didn’t allow for construction to continue, Michael’s crew would arrive and cover the site to minimize downtime. Michael always had our family’s best interests in mind. We really like that Michael handles every aspect of the project. We didn’t have to deal with a separate salesperson, designer, project manager, contractor or subcontractor; he manages it all giving us peace of mind. Having completed the first part of our project I felt compelled to write this review for the excellent five-star customer service and end product we received from Michael Martinez at Black Diamond Paver Stones and Landscape, we highly recommend him. I will update this review with photos upon the completion of our project.

Our backyard was just a sand lot on a new construction home. We called upon Black Diamond to create, design, and landscape the backyard and garden (with irrigation system). Additionally, we asked Frances and her team to put it a fire pit, freestanding wall, and planter next to the garden. They exceeded our expectations! Frances and her team were very courteous, reliable, honest, and communicative. She helped us through every aspect of the project, from selecting low maintenance plants to choosing pattern and color for the cobblestone hardscape. Michael Martinez, Designer/Consultant/Project Manager did a great job of listening to our ideas and needs. He presented a solution that would include drains and leveling of our yard to keep water from draining toward our house. We were thrilled to see his recommendations as they solved many of our issues and came in within our budget. His design work was brought to fruition by his very talented crew led by Irving. The crew was on time, clean and kept us updated on the progress of the job. While it is always best to get more than one bid, I recommend contacting Michael Martinez as one of your bids. I had my front yard all designed; in fact, I had several designs and was just looking for someone or some firm to give me a quote so I could gloat over how much money I could save by doing it myself. I just happened to chat with Frances Krebs at the Home & Garden Expo at the Monterey Fairgrounds and she volunteered to give me a design review and a free quote. "Sure, why not?" Well, she later convinced me that my designs were "inappropriate" (terrible, actually, but she didn't say it that way...) and put together some ideas that I fell in love with. She worked with me on my "extreme gopher" problem and made other suggestions that enhanced the overall scope and beauty of the finished project. As a project manager, she was on top of things daily and responded promptly to all concerns and questions. Her crew was hard working and respectful of my space and environment. She participated personally in selecting the "variable touches" that really made the finished job "pop", even to the point of buying a special plant for a particular location and working with the crew to fix a slope issue to my satisfaction. We decided to go with Black Diamond at the end of our first meeting with Michael Martinez. He listened to everything I wanted to do to transform our swampy, sloping yard and wrote up a plan/design on the spot. His knowledge of functionality and proper drainage was very impressive. Our project included pavers, a retaining wall, elevated slab for pergola, a pea gravel pit for fire, a lawn, two steps out of the house and accent lights. When his crew arrived they were very professional and clean and their work ethic was humbling to say the least. The end result was awesome! It felt as if we added another 1000 square feet to our home. We are estatic!!!

Michael Martinez completed a full paver driveway, dog run, sidewalk and pathway to the pool for us in December of 2017. Easiest construction project we have ever had done at the house. In additon, the project came in under bid even after adding square footage. And on top of that, this was by far the best price we were quoted for a complete paver driveway. After the rains came, there was a little drainage issue. The guys came back out immediately and fixed it... no questions asked or addition costs requested.

Black Diamond did a masterful job transforming our front and back yards into a zen Japanese garden. Kevin Kenny completely overhauled our landscaping with serene blue/gray pavers for driveway and back patio, smooth Japanese rock paths inset with thick flagstone, lush green lawns and moss gardens flanked with cherry blossoms, Japanese maples, magnolias, azaleas, shrubs and calm bamboo. Juan and the team were meticulous laying out our dream garden, as well as installing our impressive new irrigation system (we're in the flood zone of Mill Valley) and elegant tree lighting. I would like to give my whole hearted recommendation to Black Diamond! From the scheduler, Travis, to the Project coordinators, Amy and Kia, to the Foreman (woman), Flor and Erik and the rest of the crew, we can't express how happy we were with the work and the experience. We originally had them repave our backyard, the work was done ahead of schedule and exceeded our expectations. The crew was great. We were so happy with our back yard, that although we were going to wait to redo our front, we couldn't wait to have our front yard look as good as our back yard and had them start the project right away. We were so happy with the back yard that we didn't bother with getting other quotes for the front yard. We knew which company we wanted to do our front. The scheduler, Travis, was very accommodating to coordinate with outside contractors to allow these contractors to complete work in the middle of Black Diamond's job. Once we demolished the front we realized that our main drain needed to be replaced. We had to hire outside plumbers. This job took longer than expected but Travis was able to work around the delay and even though the project was delayed (not of any fault of Black Diamond), Travis made sure the job started timely after the plumbers were finished. In addition, we had some minor issues after the job was completed and Travis and Black Diamond were able to provide timely follow up to take care of these issues. Project Coordinators, Amy and Kia treat you like family. They care about you as a customer. Kia is very detailed oriented, willing to give his opinion in our best interest. Flor and Erik were always friendly and would work around and listen to our ideas. They would try to incorporate our ideas and give ideas as to how to improve upon our ideas. Erik is a "master craftman" taking obvious pride in the quality of his work.

When you desire to have pavers installed around your home, don’t waste your time checking out all the different companies. There is only one company to do the job, Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscaping in San Ramon. We contracted with them to install pavers beside the swimming pool in our back yard. The plan was to make a significant addition to pavers that were already in place for several years. The result was a perfect match to the existing pavers, with an identical pattern and excellent blend between the old and the new. During the week-long installation procedure, Howard Kaplan, the project design specialist arrived each morning to inform us what was planned for the day. He also checked at the end of each day to determine the progress. Enrique Trejo, the foreman of the job, is a master of pavers and Saul, his assistant, worked non-stop with incredible effort. They did extra work to make sure everything was perfect. On a scale of one to ten the company is off the charts. We now have the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood. We renovated our front and back yards with the black diamond pavers and landscaping. We work with the project specialist Oscar Daniel and work lead Gio. I have reached out and gotten quotes from at least five companies with great reviews on yelp. Black diamond's quote was not the cheapest but the project specialist Oscar was the one who responded most promptly and answered our questions most completely. Most importantly, he made appointment on time. If he had to be late or change schedule, he informed first. This is a rare virtue among contractors in the bay area nowadays. The workers were just fantastic. They were very fast working and detail attentive. The lead Gio and his crew members are very nice people too. Perfect job by Oscar Daniel and Black Diamond team! Oscar was professional, and went great length to help my wife and I to scope a design we liked. When we told him that we didn't like the original retaining wall he picked but cannot afford to switch to a wall we liked, Oscar came on site the very next day and did a redesign with the new wall while keeping the price within our budget. The team was very professional and efficient too. We anticipated the work to be done in 3 - 4 weeks but Jorge and his team manage to finish in 2, and the quality was superb. They cleaned up very nicely and didn't leave a mess, also they helped us get rid of some big junk we had in the yard as a favor. Overall we are very satisfied with Oscar and his team. We love the new retaining wall, pavers and artificial grass in our backyard. Our backyard has two levels, offset by about 2 ft and our greatest concern was how to integrate the 2 ft retaining wall and still make a smooth transition with the artificial grass. Our "salesman" Jason was wonderful. I put it in quotations because my wife and I never felt pressured at any point. He was there to respond to a text after business ours. He was on the job site nearly everyday to clarify the workmanship with the workers and myself. The pavers look fantastic. The crew certainly went above and beyond. The pavers were impressive but the salesmanship supercedid our expectations.

We had a walkway done in the front by Rick Del Prete of Black Diamond Paver & Stones and highly recommend him. He was simply everything we were looking for in someone to do business with: very responsive to calls, requests, questions and challenges as they came up and also very attentive to our preferences and to the quality of work. We cannot say enough good things about Black Diamond and our rep Doug Campen. They removed our old concrete driveway and side yard patio then installed all new paver stones that look amazing. They put the trucks, pallets, sand, and dust portion on the fast track with everyone showing up at the right time to get it done in less than a week. But the workmanship was not rushed - it was superb. Doug, especially, was gracious and considerate - much more than most any contractor we have worked with. He went way above and beyond in our experience with contractors to make sure we were completely satisfied with everything going on. He answered or quickly returned every phone call, and he came out at the drop of the hat to help us with changes we wanted or questions. He said several times along the way that if we did not care for a particular outcome that they would take that part out and redo it. He even came out afterwords on his own time to help us move our patio furniture back. Instant friend and very trusted professional.

Black Diamond and specifically their designer Julie Tipton,were excellent. We transformed out tear down house with an 80ft stamped concrete driveway to pavers, a pentaque court (bocce) and artificial grass around the exisiting pool. They worked diligently to make sure we were happy from planing through execution. Changes were willingly made when we thought something didn't look quite right. We very much recommend Julie and Black Diamond.

Black Diamond Paver Stones redid my complete yard. I was very satisfied with their work. The crew was efficient and completed the project in a very professional manner. The need for watering was lowered yet the finished design is still pleasing to the eye. Mr. Roberts, the design consultant, worked with me throughout, answering the questions I had and explaining what the process would be. I highly recommend this company.

Jim Roberts was our contact with Black Diamond for our project which consisted of (1)replacing a poured concrete front walkway that had two steps with pavers on an incline with no steps (this avoids people tripping on the steps at night) ; (2) creating a parking space next to the driveway with pavers; and (3) creating extra patio space using pavers around the back yard pool out of a grass area. Jim provided a nice presentation and competitive estimate and provided valuable creative input that steered us towards good choices of pavers and a great outcome. I was very nervous about the second part of the project (see above) because virtually all of our house utilities (gas, electric, telephone, cable, water line and drain line) all were directly through the area to be paved. Also, two massive tree root systems running through the area had to be hand removed due to being directly over the utilities. Jim and Black Diamond served up a truly outstanding crew that pulled it off without cutting any of the utility lines. Jim had good follow through and represented his company professionally and he would be our first call should we need paver services again. In summary, this was one of our best ever contracting outcomes and give due credit to Jim for that result. Chuck Clark
