We really had a great time working with David Burton of Burton Architecture. He really understood our desire to have a modern addition that merged well with our 1916 craftsman house. From the exterior, the addition and remodel blend elegantly and seamlessly with the original structure. And the inside is modern and clean but flows very naturally from the old parts of the house to the new. David was also very involved in the selection of materials, identifying a contractor and working with the city. We hired an interior designer as well and the two worked very well and professionally together - combining their talents and ideas. Remodeling is never a cake walk, but David made it fun and we're so pleased with the finished product

David Burton was our architect on our recent kitchen remodel. We have a c.1905 house, and the kitchen was very out-dated and cramped – we had a breakfast nook, kitchen and porch that all ended up being opened into a single sunny, spacious room. David was great to work with throughout the different stages of the project. He talked to us at length about what we were looking for in the kitchen; came up with different outlines of how the kitchen could look, and worked closely with us on our final decision. He provided guidance and feedback throughout the project, including when we were choosing cabinets, countertop, backsplash, etc. During construction, our project’s lead carpenter commented a few times about how clear and easy-to–follow David’s drawings were, and how responsive David was if there were any questions. We LOVE our new kitchen and feel that we made all the right choices. We really enjoyed working with David, and would happily work with him again!

Burton Architecture has provided architectural and design recommendations with regard to specific products, design elements, and materials used in various projects on which I have worked. On numerous occasions, during design and construction, he has offered solutions that not only fit aesthetically into the project, but were affordable and efficient. David's knowledge of LEED and green construction have driven decisions made during the design and construction phases of my projects. David is professional, knowledgeable, and experienced.

Burton Architecture designed our major addition and we were thrilled not just with the results, but with the patience that David worked with us. We have strong design ideas, and David worked with us to incorporate our interests and thoughts. Willing to share his own ideas, which were great, but also respectful when we wanted to go in a different direction. We never felt he was designing the house he thought we should have, but instead was helping us create the space that we wanted. I can't think of any way that Burton Architecture could have improved in their work and would jump at the opportunity to work with David again.

David Burton was our architect for a major kitchen/bath/laundry remodel in our 1903 home in Alameda, California. He assisted us in selecting a contractor, planning the space, selection the materials and appliances, and obtaining good prices for much of our goods and services needed to complete the project. David was attentive, kind, and thoughtful in providing us with a finished product that is both functional and lovely. While we have the best in modern conveniences and the project was done in as "green" a manner as we could achieve, the kitchen is in keeping with the architecture of our Colonial Revival home. We are just about one year from completion (which was done on time and on budget - a rarity in old home remodeling!) and I have yet to find a feature or location of an appliance that I wish we would have done differently. While David and I occasionally had a difference of esthetic, he was always willing to work with me until we had found a compromise that suited. I think his guidance and good will went a long way in our accomplishing what I, and our friends and family, consider a damn fine new kitchen/bath/laundry.
