Vorspan Design

We absolutely LOVE working with Chuck. We appreciate his care and attention to detail, not just for our project, but for us. He spent time with us in our new home and our current home getting to know us and our wants and needs. We feel his final design is a perfect fit for us. We feel very blessed to have found him, and that it worked out so very well.

Chuck Vorspan redesigned the kitchen, dining room, and entry to our 1979 home. He was very easy to work with and exceptionally creative. He knows the workings of kitchens very well. I understand he has since earned his Certified Kitchen Designer qualification with the NKBA. We loved working with him. That was back when he was with Marsh Vorspan Partners and his partner Doug Marsh oversaw the construction with expertise. It was easy to live in the house and a joy to get to know some of the subcontractors.

Chuck Vorspan designed our remodeled master bathroom and did a wonderful job - he was easy and pleasant to work with, reliable, and the bathroom turned out great!

Working with Chuck Vorspan on our house remodel was a pleasure both professionally and personally. Chuck was very patient and courteous when listening to our ideas and translated those ideas and his own into a spectacular design throughout the house. Chuck's kitchen design was truly a work of art. Chuck and I have collaborated on several projects in which he was the architect/designer and I was the interior designer. Chuck is fabulous at what he does. He is easy to talk to, easy to collaborate with, is totally meticulous about details, and it's obvious that he loves what he does. I would work with him again -- or hire him -- in a heartbeat.

We hired Chuck Vorspan to do a major remodel on our Hyde Park house in 2013, following a disastrous experience with another contractor. The remodel consisted of adding a small room and completely redoing a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. We hired Chuck on the recommendation of friends who had nothing but positive things to say about him. Our experience was similar to theirs. Two things made our remodel difficult. 1) our old house (1921) had a very strange, closed layout, and 2) my wife wanted to incorporate unusual retro components into the kitchen, including a vintage sink, stove, and a chandelier. Chuck figured out very quickly what was important to us (read, her) and was able to make it work. He also resolved the layout issue by enlarging the entrance to the kitchen and moving another doorway, which created a long line of sight that extends from one end of the house to the other. Working with Chuck was easy. When design choices didn’t work, we were all on the same page and worked together to find better solutions. The couple of times things went wrong due to factors outside of anyone’s control, Chuck exhibited great grace under pressure. Because he is organized and handles subcontractors well, we always had the sense that things were under control. Chuck always provided realistic estimates of time and cost. Chuck told us up front that he was not going to be our cheapest option. We never bothered getting other quotes because we were still recovering from a year of mistakes and false starts with another contractor. In the end we got what we wanted, with our marriage intact.

Worked with me to find a good design that both kept the original character of my 1930s bungalow, but was also modern enough to be convenient.

Chuck worked with us on a redesign that we have been enjoying for 12 years now. My favorite change was the improvement to the lines of sight, both from within the kitchen and into it from the adjacent rooms and hallway. He incorporated the custom elements we wanted (including a floor that is a work of art), and the end result does not look like the stereotypical "updated kitchen". We feel that the kitchen now is truly ours.

Chuck did the design work for the remodel of our condo. It had not been upgraded since it was built in 1977. The result of Chuck's design - especially in our kitchen and baths - turned out to be absolutely perfect!

Chuck remodeled our kitchen, living room, bedrooms, bathrooms, and pool house. Our house went from being a tired ranch house to being an attractive, comfortable family home. He employed skilled workers who did high quality work. Chuck was easy to work with, and we appreciated his suggestions that helped us stay within our budget.

We had been dreading a kitchen remodel but our experience with Chuck and his team was exceptional. His vision for adding extra windows to expand our lake view was a daunting proposal at first but has made our kitchen and living area our favorite place to hang out in our home. We enjoy not only the view but also the open feel and natural light it provides. His project finished exactly on time and within budget. We lived in our home throughout the entire construction and his team made sure they had the site very clean and ready for us to come home and relax quietly after work at the end of each day. They kept the area contained well as to minimize dust and debris throughout the rest of the house. We chose our own long time interior designer and Chuck worked easily with her team. I would not hesitate to work with Chuck again in the future and recommend him highly.
