From the very first moment of contacting Phil at Custom Cadd, we knew we wanted to work with him. He responded right away and his communication NEVER wavered once over the entire project. We also probably (not probably LOL) drove Phil crazy with so many questions and comments, but Phil always responded immediately and never made us feel that we were a burden. We have already recommended Phil with no hesitation to a few people, which says it all. Phil / Custom CADD recently (late spring 2020) completed the architecture for our house rebuild. We came to him after seeing some great before/after projects where he had vastly improved curb appeal, but later we decided on a full rebuild of our house. Phil immediately made us feel comfortable and has been a great communicator. Throughout this phase of the project has been both a leader and team player in what became a drawn out and overly complicated permit process with various conservation societies and our local city (clarifying... not his fault or really his problem but he stepped up on numerous occasions to help us wade through it all). Costs were also reasonable, and Phil gave great advice with options and plans to keep building costs as reasonable as is workable while still ending up with a quality project. Overall a great experience/highly recommend.

My wife and I did quite a bit of research when choosing an architect to design our future house in Muskoka. After reading many reviews and checking many portfolios, we thought Phil would be a great choice for us. Our initial consultation was the only time we met in person. We live about 2 hrs away from where his office is located, so we corresponded by email for the remainder of the process. We were extremely pleased with the whole process from start to finish. We were referred to Custom CADD by our contractor who had worked with them before and had nothing but good things to say. I worked with Phil and his team beginning in Fall 2017 to convert my 2.5 story bungalow to include a legal basement apartment, completely renovate the main floor, and then convert the half story under the eaves of the roof to a full story. CustomCADD came recommended to me from my trusted contractor as being the architectural team his previous clients complained about the least LOL. I can say that my experience with Phil's team was far better than just "not having many complaints"! I was initially concerned that my house is in Toronto, and CustomCADD is based out of Barrie, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. I spoke with Phil on the phone and by email, then had 1 or two site visits before he proposed his initial drawing. I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with his design from the outset - I requested virtually no changes to the outside look of the house - it was like Phil took my jumbled ideas and perfectly translated them into the classic contemporary design I wanted, and truly incorporated the house with the feel of the neighborhood; the design was true to the character and history of the house, which I really liked. I also really liked the overall design of the interior of the house, and over 3-4 drawing changes, I always felt that Phil and his team listened to my concerns, were open to my suggestions, were not afraid to tell me the pros and cons of my ideas, and together, we made final decisions. I've heard that some architectural teams are very resistant to design changes, and I did not feel this was at all the case with CustomCADD - it truly felt like a collaborative process in which we worked together to find the best design that worked for my needs. Communication by email was a breeze, and we were able to make all the design tweaks without needing to meet again in person. Once the design was finalized, it was time to get permits. And let me tell you---AARGH! This was a nightmare because of how the City of Toronto works. I was extremely grateful for Phil and his team shepherding me through the process, making changes as requested by the city, and finally getting permits (this took about 15 months, because we needed to request minor variance exemptions). Construction started on my project in late September 2019, and the house is just about complete despite due to COVID-19 delays. I could not be happier with the overall design and feel of the house, and can't wait for the landscaping to be completed! I will gladly share photos once this is done :-) Project cost for design was about 10% of the overall construction cost for my project.

We moved to a century old farmhouse and had Phil over to give us his ideas. But first He walked the house with us and listened to our issues and goals for our new home. Phil was very respectful, polite and professional to work with. My husband loved all the plans, I couldn’t vision the new staircase, but now that they are finished and useable I LOVE THEM!! We were lucky to be able to work with Phil and his team in designing our custom home. A few great looking custom homes were in various stages of being built in a neighborhood, and we found out that Phil was the designer from one of the homeowners who enthusiastically recommended Phil and confirmed that the other custom homes were designed by Phil as well. We knew right away that this is the designer we wanted to work with, as we were certain that houses were designed by the same designer even before talking with the homeowner because they all looked “right” in the same way, despite the actual designs being quite different. My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Philippe and Matt for the design of our cottage this year. Working with Phil and Matt on the design and execution of our landmark lakefront estate was truly one of the highlights of the whole plan and build experience. We hired Phil to design our dream house in Nova Scotia. It took us a year to finalize the plans but Phil guided us through the process with patience, professionalism and knowledge. It was a very large and complex build with lots of complicated details. Even over the distance of almost 3000 km between Ontario and Nova Scotia Phil managed to succeed and connected with our builder, survey contact etc. We highly recommend his firm.

We already had the basic design for our dream home drawn up with pencil and paper but needed help in turning those sketches into actual working plans so that we could take it from the dream-stage to reality. Custom CADD provided sufficient detail in their plans that we were able to act as the General Contractor of the build of our new home and for our home to turn out even better than expected. That truly says something for the quality of the plans provided. Our framer commented on the fact that we were one of very few clients who made no changes during the build itself. That is due to the fact that Custom CADD worked with us and spent the time up-front to ensure that everything was considered, laid out, and amended as necessary in developing the plans prior to putting the shovel in the ground. Our dream home is truly just that, and we wouldn't change a thing!

We hired Custom Cadd to design a cottage for us. We wanted something modern, yet functional, and there would be a budget. We sat down with Phil and described what we were looking for. We showed him quite a lot of pictures (mostly in a Houzz Ideabook), and when the first drawing came back it was almost perfect from the start. We were pleasantly surprised. Two things stood out for us: 1. Phil, first and foremost, listened to what we were looking for in a cottage and design; 2. he did not forget the practical issues (such as room around furniture.) I was also impressed that he had designed with the structure in mind from the start. It wasn't just concept drawing, with structure to be figured out later. This hasn't been our experience with other architects. I think that is one of the reasons why Phil can provide great design at a reasonable price. The build is well on its way, and it has come off even better than we anticipated. We would definitely use Custom Cadd should we take on another building project!

My experience was relatively not what I expected. It was actually less stressful. I was treated with respect and all of my needs were addressed with the enthusiasm and dedication of true professionals. They went above and beyond my expectations in all areas including customer service. Custom CADD listened to my needs and performed well in all aspects of the design process. Whenever I had any issues or changes along the way, they addressed their concerns and we appropriately resolved the issues. Even when I had a minor battle over the site plan with the city building officials, Custom CADD had no problem spending their time on the phone aiding to resolve the issues the township had with my plans. My only negative aspect of the process came out later on during the building phase when my contractor advised me that there where minor flaws in design.. However, I resolved those issues with my contractor out of my own pocket. Overall, I would highly recommend Custom CADD to anyone without hesitation.

I really recommend Phil and his team. We were not happy with our first architect and was glad that we had found Custom CADD. Phil and Matt were very thorough and were quick with our project. If we needed changes done or had questions, they were very quick with the changes/responses. Whatever style or design you chose they are able to put that design using their very sophisticated software. They will be with you every step of the way. We met Phil at Custom CADD on the recommendation of a friend. Our family had no experience in general contracting a home build but were excited to embark on the adventure. Phil made the entire process fun! He started with a "how-we-live" bubble diagram and before we knew it he had a home designed in the style of our choosing! Making adjustments and incorporating our feedback into refined floor plans was always received with respect and with a sense of excitement from Phil that he was creating a design that we were going to be genuinely pleased with. He was very meticulous when it came to being conscientious of our overall build budget, including square footage of the buildings and had many creative solutions for maximizing the use of every square foot of the dwelling; a high priority for us. With his impeccable knowledge of the Ontario Building Codes we had very little trouble with his design being compliant to our township regulations and even had proactive advice for us in this area. During the build there was one instance where we as the general contractors wanted to make an adjustment in the vaulted roof of our porch. We were extremely impressed that Custom CADD was able to amend the plans, obtain engineering for the change and all without a delay to our construction. He often went over and above for us! We have recommended Phil and Custom CADD on many occasions since our build, and I believe everyone has been equally pleased.

We hired Custom CADD to design an addition to our century home and a detached garage. Stalled with a basic design created between ourselves and another architect, we were referred to Custom Cadd by our builder, who had previously suggested we give them a try. Phil identified and corrected flaws with the roof design, plan flow and lot coverage, working up an improved version of our vision. Consultations and further tweaking of the design, layout and window arrangements, were accommodated and completed in a timely manner to meet permit application deadlines. During excavation, it was determined that structural changes would be necessary to address site conditions encountered. Matt and Phil completed these amendments quickly; both the original drawings and the amendments, as well as the site plan, were accepted by the building department without questions or delays. We cannot recommend Custom Cadd highly enough. They provided us with valuable, honest input, combined with excellent overall service, ensuring that our project could move forward in a timely fashion. Matt and Phil have been a pleasure to work with.

Phillipe and his team are very pleasant, easy-going yet thoroughly professional people to work with. They strike a rare balance of being engaged in the project without needlessly micromanaging, and received great work as a result. Speaking on behalf of United Lumber and and United Truss, we have a great relationship with Custom Cadd. our design team work on a regular bases with Custom Cadd to ensure we have correct designs for permit applications. We enjoy working with Custom Cadd drawings, they are complete and very accurate. We feel that Custom Cadd are bringing great value to their clients by preparing a permit package at the start for their clients. Building departments require both floor and roof designs to be submitted along with the design drawings for a proper permit submital, this is something that both companies combined can provide.

Philippe and his Team are very professional and provide a great service. I would highly reccomend them. Custom Cadd has provided drawings to me for multiple jobs from Additions and for New Homes. There designs are well thought out. They will take suggestion but also give there input. As a Builder I picked out a few area's that were not clearly defined in the drawing and Custom Cadd was quickly there to resovle the issue typically with in hours, THAT'S SERVICE!

Custom CADD Inc. was referred to us by a friend and we are so glad they were. We worked very well together designing the renovation of an existing 40+ year old home into our dream home. The end result is beautiful country home, approx. 12,000 sq. ft., complete with indoor pool. The finished product is just perfect. My husband and I purchased a 100 year old cottage that required a major renovation/rebuild. The cottage is located on an island in Georgian Bay. Phil did an initial site visit and went to work. I retired as a practising architect several years ago after a lengthy career primarily focused upon institutional, commercial and industrial work. Phil worked with us to develop our house plan while our family was living in Japan. We communicated with Phil through e-mail and phone conversations. Phil drafted our house plans based on details that we provided and came up with a final plan that met all of our desires. The process with Phil was professional and efficient. Phil's experience was clearly well anchored in house design which provided excellent proposals for layout and elevations. The house house was designed for ICF construction. During the build process, we did not find a single design error. Plans were thorough and easy for trades to follow. Dimensions on paper achieved the style, layout and cost that we had planned for. Overall, we are 100% satisfied with the design process that Phil provides. We recomend Custom Cadd to others when it's appropriate.

As a new homebuilder and renovator, we like the combination of the company's knowledge of building code practices and also the "vision" to design a project to be proud of. All small details were taken into account and response time to inquiries were prompt, (no need to leave voicemail, you actually get a person on the other end). One drawback at first may be the cost of the design process, but in the end, well worth it when you don't experience any hiccups when you apply for your building permit or when you start building for that matter. We've work with Custom Cadd directly, and have also recommended the company for clients who want to work direct.

Mr Lamadeleine designed a home that exceeded our expectations. He comprehended what we were wanting and was able to add so as to improve upon our wishes. Custom Cadd was able to transalte from a picture that my wife had for a house into an actual plan that gave her the look she wanted on the outside with a very functional plan on the inside. They were always accomodating with respect to all the various revisions that are obviously necessary in a process of designing a home. The final plans were abvle to be used by the builder with almost no adjustments necessary. Anything we needed during the design process was handled quickly and profesionally. The fee charged was very fair for the level of service provided. Since my wife now has the home she always wanted I don't see that we will have the necessity to work with them again but i would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone doing a similar project

July 2016 Our house is now several years complete. As I walk thorugh the house, I'm grateful that Phil was able to work with us. It has been interesting to see Phil's design take shape. We have made very few adjustments to the actual design. In our numerous discussions of how to place the house, Phil has done a great job. We will have incredible amounts of sunlight flowing through the main living areas of the house during the day-ESPECIALLY during the winter months. At night, the bedrooms will be nicely sheltered by the winds that at times blow very briskly across the property. Great Job! These are the fine details that Phil was able to capture for us, which we didn't even think about. I know that Phil had told us about the ceiling details during the design stage and for a non artistic person it was difficult for me to envision. Having seen it framed and how it fits with the arches through the hallway, and how at the end of the hallway, it is framed by a window that offers an incredible view, I have to say- I am truly impressed by Phil's attention to details. Thnx Phil! We worked with Phil recently. Phil was able to effectively listen to our needs/wishes and put our ideas into a design that we are very happy with. In terms of time, Phil and Matt were readily available for help and advice, often outside of "normal" work hours. They were willing to help in providing us with information about other trades that will help us achieve our goals. We have also shown the design to several builders for planning and logistics purposes and the general feedback has been that the design is coherent and well thought out.
