True Story: I was interviewing architects for a remodel project and met with David's team first. It was simple, straight forward, helpful, and frictionless. I would highly recommend Dave to design your home. I wish I found him 5 years ago, but the wait paid off. He took my vision to reality. My challenge was finding someone that could think outside the box and could design a contemporary lake house without paying Architecture fees.

Dave was fun to work with throughout the entire process. He brought a lot of unique ideas we would have not considered on our own which helped us get to a final design that we are excited to make it a reality. Dave was also very communicative and available. The majority of the time he was actually waiting on us because a few times I was super busy and needed to reschedule some time together. Dave does wonders with space planning/visualization, and is very easy to work with. He truly made our vision come to life. We are super impressed!! Our original 1980's primary bath is overdue for some TLC. We had some "what if" ideas, but didn't know if they were doable or how they might look. Dave listened to our ideas, addressed all our concerns and showed us what would actually work in the space. Turns out the freestanding tub we liked would not fit. Now we are confident in taking the next step!

We just started the process on a small home addition on the front of our house to create a dedicated laundry space, gain a more functional entryway, and add a porch. We met with a few architects and designers before deciding to go with Dave. He really listened to what our goals were and balanced giving us what we wanted in the design but also being honest when he had an alternative idea that might work better. The design process was fast and easy. It took about a month to get an initial design then about a week to make some adjustments until we settled on a final plan. Dave gave us floor plans, drawings, and a 3D design which helped us visualize the project. He also met with us to talk through changes so we could see what they would look like before making any final decisions. The other designers we interviewed only included one or two revisions in their bids. Being new to this process, we weren't sure how many revisions we would want and Dave's promise was that he would work with us until we were 100% happy which gave us peace of mind. He wasn't our lowest bid but I think we got the best value from him. I'd recommend him to anyone and we definitely plan to use him again for any future projects!

David Michael was a godsend after working with two other design / architect groups. Professional, creative, onetime and delivered exactly what we needed in a super timely fashion. I honestly can not say enough good stuff! The project he helped us with was for a home extension and ADU. I loved how he handled the project from start to finish including passing off to an engineer. The mockups being 3D virtual was KILLER! I was floored as was my husband on how easy it was to visualize the end project with his technology. We would hands down recommend him to anyone! We engaged David and his team to design a complete renovation of a old home. We used David many years ago to complete design of a mother-in-law quarter and add a California room. We had a great experience and want to use David for the renovation. We had a few ideas and priorities for the renovation and outlined these when we had our first meeting. David and his team should up en masse as soon as we closed and scoped out the property. David then developed the conceptual design and walk us through with a first-rate video. Their first draft was amazing - way better than anything we imagined. We had a couple of subsequent Zoom calls to review and make minor modifications. David and Brewster listened and were awesome at making design updates real-time. I highly recommend using them for your project and we will be back again if we have another project. If you want someone that is can-do, listens and is creative and knowledge, David Michael Designs is your architect.

David Michael designed our new home. Everybody that sees our home comments on what a great design we have. the took us from start to finish and made the process easy and made any revisions quickly. Dave worked with me on two projects, one which I decided not to complete and the other, a ground up build on an empty lot which we did complete and are now living in as our "forever home". Dave and I collaborated on the second design and he hit it out of the ballpark on the first try. We gave him a rough floor plan and layout along with some photos of home styles we liked and we were amazed with what he produced for us right out the gate. Dave is genius with the CAD program he uses and as a designer, he has a real flair for the artistic process of designing homes. He was always very open to our ideas and was not happy with the finished product until we were. His in depth knowledge of Chief Architect, his CAD program provided us with stunning 3D videos of both the exterior and the interior.

When working with David, he brings so much knowledge and experience, and can whip up a design onto the 3D rendition after his onsite visit with the homeowner -- It's like magic how he transforms your ideas into a virtual design!! David is always open to changes or suggestions/preferences (even as small as a change in the color scheme). Attention all homeowners! Dave Theis of David Michael Designs saved our Whole House Remodel project - while giving us complete peace of mind and joy throughout the process. Isn't that what we as homeowners are supposed to feel? We're supposed to enjoy the process and feel excited about the journey, right? Prior to finding David Michael Designs on Houzz.com, we had a very difficult time getting anything done with our first designer. Not with Dave Theis! Dave is responsive, professional, reasonable, accurate and fast! He is kind, compassionate, funny and treats his customers with mutual respect too! He is a man of his word and kept every commitment he made to us! Having gone through difficulties in the past with other vendors, and losing trust, we, as homeowners, tend not to trust anyone. From the beginning, however, we felt at ease with our decision to go with David Michael Designs. It was one of the best decisions we made in regards to our Whole House Remodel. If we could go back in time, we would skip over the first designer and go directly with David Michael Designs. Everything went according to plans - even finished a week earlier than expected! The reason being his ability to truly listen to what we had to say and then translate it into the design. I am sad this part of the process is over because I won't have our design meetings to look forward to anymore.
