DC Designs

We were very happy with our decision to hire Douglas to design a basement addition and kitchen remodel. We interviewed several architects and designers before hiring Douglas. Douglas had the lowest bid by far but his bid included support from design all the way through permitting. Douglas patiently worked through several iterations of the design with us until we had a design we could take to contractors for bidding. Douglas made several major revisions during the project based on feedback from the city permitting office, contractor, and structural engineer. Overall it was a great experience and far more affordable than the architects. I have a feeling the architects would have charged us for every revision but Douglas was true to his word that his original fee covered us all the way through the process!

I found Doug at DC Designs through the Houzz app. He was quick to respond and set up a time to speak on the phone. He talked me through his process and followed up with an official quote and contract. He then came and took a look at the space. He listened to my ideas, came up with a dream design plan, and then we scaled back based on budget and need. He was great at explaining the plans and answering all of my questions. Once the plans were complete he was able to recommend contractors and a structural engineer (since we are doing an addition to the home) to help move the project forward. I highly recommend Doug for your design needs.

Doug was great to work with, and I would hire him again. We had some 13 year old plans for an addition and remodel that needed to be updated so we could get started. Doug helped us revise the plans into something more realistic and functional. He had great insights on how to improve the flow and keep the aesthetics of our 1912 house. There were a few small mistakes and inconsistencies. Sometimes I felt bad bringing them up, because my husband and I work at jobs where "the devil's in the details". But Doug never took it personally and was always willing to listen to what we had to say. He was a pleasure to work with!

Douglas was excellent. Attentive to our design, extremely fast with revisions, very clear with communications and informative throughout the whole process. We had him draw up our plans for permitting.

I have used DC Designs for a number of years over a number of different residential projects. I am very happy with his work. He does it quickly and addresses any requested changes very fast. I am a general contractor and refer him to home owners to generate a set of plans so I can get a building permit. Most recent project is a Studio for my wife. A special building for her to do her art in. It has an 8 foot door and a 16 foot cathedral ceiling, With skylights and some large windows. Because of the limited building space it is a tall narrow building, but pretty cool.

We hired Douglas to design a two part remodel for our 1940's farmhouse. Douglas was very responsive to what we wanted, provided lots of great ideas that we didn't think of ourselves, and delivered final designs in a timely fashion. We built the first part of the design last year and our builder was very complimentary of Douglas' designs. I highly recommend!
