Our cabinets are hand crafted and custom finished in our Silicon Valley Location. Mike Dickinson is the owner of Dickinson Cabinetry. Mike built his first cabinet at age thirteen in his parent’s garage. He developed an interest in many types of projects made from wood and began building everything from fine furniture to redwood decks. As a young adult he turned to metal working and learned much about manufacturing processes working in a modern factory. He still made woodworking his hobby. He then decided to come back to cabinets and began kitchen remodeling. He built and installed cabinets and later became General Manager of a kitchen remodeling contracting company. He gained vast experience while learning much about the “nuts and bolts” that make a kitchen. He was especially drawn toward the design of custom cabinetry. He noticed how much a cabinet design can influence the final result. The market was changing and consumers were demanding much higher levels of quality and service. Finishes were getting much more elaborate. Cabinet storage features were evolving rapidly. With this in mind he got the idea to start a new kind of custom cabinet business in San Jose which could serve the Bay Area and beyond. There are three main players which must work together to create a beautiful kitchen project. First, a cabinetmaker who considers the wants and needs of the homeowner from start to finish is essential. Second, an interior designer or homeowner with excellent design sense who can choose all of the colors and finishes. And third, a skilled general contractor who can oversee the installation of everything in the kitchen. Anyone who has been through this will tell you that you do not want to compromise on any of these. Mike enjoys being part of the team. He truly has a passion for beautiful cabinetry.
