Donna DuFresne Interior Design

I trust Donna's recommendations implicitly. She has an amazing sense of design and ability to recognize what works for her clients (I know many of them, and we all have different tastes and styles). She has never overwhelmed me with multiple choices of materials, etc. Instead, she has the capacity to identify a client's taste, and provide a manageable number of options within budget. She has an uncanny knack of guiding me to consider a design option that I would never have imagined. Her subs are professional, competent and delightful to work with, as is she. What started two years ago as a shower installation in my master bath has progressed to an update of my master bedroom, now kitchen. At long last, my 30+ year old house is being given new life, and I am extremely happen with the outcome. I will be doing more, and I will continue to recommend her to friends.

I hired Donna DuFresne Design to help me transform a dated southern colonial ranch into a unique traditional farmstyle ranch house that was more befitting my farm and locale. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do and Donna helped me take my good ideas and made them great ideas, all the while tactfully keeping me focused on having a coordinated result. She has an excellent eye for color and proportion. She provided many efficiencies in the design process as I could share my ideas and tastes and she would go out and shop for me; showing me a few excellent choices to choose from rather than me being overwhelmed by looking at the million choices available. She was more than willing to go with me to choose old reclaimed barn wood in a dirty old warehouse to shopping with me throughout downtown Portland for everything from lighting to furniture. She is especially gifted in designing lighting and choosing both lighting and plumbing fixtures to fit the style of the house and rooms. I am thrilled with the transformation and truly miss working with her. It was a very collaborative effort with a result we can both be proud of.

Donna is fantastic! Over the past ten years she has done interior design work for me in three different office spaces and most recently a 2300 sq foot home. These projects run the gamut from a 1990s office to an 1890s farm home (just kicking off now). Each and every time Donna has demonstrated innate skill in matching design to surroundings, creating seamless transitions between rooms and environments. She is adept at both space planning and finish details, and her designs are timeless. I'm still getting rave reviews on a space she designed more than five years ago. Easy to work with, professional, flexible and reliable.

Donna's insights, expertise, and professional discipline have transformed our 100 year old bungalow in NE Portland. She has decorated every room; and designed and implemented full remodels of two baths, and our kitchen. She has also redecorated the interior of our cruising yacht. When guests enter our home, or our yacht, we hear oohs & aahs -- and are very proud. Most important though is the feeling we get when we are in these transformed spaces. Feelings of balance, comfort, and luxury. Donna finds a way to mesh our desires, with her knowledge to take all projects to a level we could not have imagined on our own. We continue to rely on her completely for current -- and certainly for future -- design and decor needs.

We had three projects that Donna DuFresne designed and oversaw implementation: complete remodeling of our kitchen, creation of a new bathroom upstairs where there was not one, and changing a room on the main floor into an office. Ms. DuFresne has an eye for design and for color, but is always willing to work with what a client really wants. We are happy being in the rooms which she has created for us. Ms. DuFresne does what she'll say she'll do when she says she'll do it. She was never late with us, never failed to show up, was always reliable. She kept us on our toes! She created a budget and stuck with it, although if for some reason there might be a change, she consulted with us before going ahead with a decision. As a matter of fact, we were 100% involved every step of the way. Finally and best, she is such a delight as a person, that it is a complete treat to work with her. Things always went smoothly, in terms of interpersonal relationships. We have hired her three times and would hire her three more times if we could! She works well with the people she hires and they respect her leadership. So do we.
