My wife and I hired E+L after seeing some images of a house they had designed in San Francisco and knew immediately that they had similar aesthetic tastes as ours. Working with Robert, Vivian and team on designing our home has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience - they have been great from day one, from suggesting various different ways to utilize the space we had, right down to the very last details of every decision required to build a house from the ground up. They have been great at both making the project look and feel like a beautifully designed home, but more importantly, making it livable and practical at the same time, and we love where it has ended up and couldn't be happier. Also, being a designer, and having an opinion on how things should look and function, E+L were also totally open about taking some input and direction and working together for the best results. They were 100% comfortable with what their expertise was, and where to help or work through ideas we had too. Also - importantly - Robert is exactly the kind of architect who understands the whole process of building a house in San Francisco, and what it entails, and his demeanor, patience and level-headed nature when dealing with some of the interesting idiosyncrasies of San Francisco's city laws was immensely helpful in keeping the project on track, and us, his clients, feeling happy, informed and part of the process. We have hired Edmonds and Lee for a previous major remodel of our home in San Francisco and were completely impressed! They created a sleek but still comfortable space inside our Victorian in a way that allowed the traditional and modern esthetes to harmonize. Robert and his team handled our mid-century home renovation in the Bay Area. The home had been owned by one family for over 50 years and not been touched since it was built in 1953. He helped us to transform the house and introduced us to a wonderful general contractor. Now, our only problem is that we have to deal with people knocking on our door, asking us about who we used for the renovation. True!

We hired Edmonds + Lee to help us remodel an early Eichler built in Menlo Park. We were extremely happy with the comprehensive approach this firm takes to help their clients. From functional work flow and computer generated images to material choices and furniture recommendations -- we were able to achieve a cohesive and beautiful space. If details and high end finishes are important to you then these are the Architects to use.

We had the honor to work with the founders Robert and Vivian to design our bridal atelier in San Francisco. I was so impressed with the entire process from start to finish. Our space turned our beautifully and on time. All of our customers who walks into our atelier are stunned with our space. We hired Edmonds + Lee for a major interior remodel of a 4,000 square foot home in Pacific Heights in San Francisco, including the addition of a roof deck. The work started in 2013 and lasted about 18 months. We interviewed 7 other architects as well, and chose Edmonds + Lee with no hesitation because we were very impressed by the strong interest they showed in the project, even at the early stage when our ideas on the scope of the project itself were still forming, and because they had a clear design aesthetic that was very close to our sensibility. Both Robert Edmonds and Vivian Lee were heavily involved in the project, as was Eddy Joaquim, who also played a key role in the day to day managing of the project. Vivian had great input in the interior decoration as well. We cannot say enough good things about all of them. They helped us develop our vision for the house, and provided an excellent interface between our vision and the builders’ implementation. Their structured and methodical attention to detail throughout the process gave us enormous confidence—we knew that even if we missed something, they would not. Edmonds + Lee were also excellent at maintaining clear communication with us and the contractors, setting realistic expectations on timelines and budgets, which helped make us feel in control of the project. They were able to come up with design solutions that truly transformed the feel of the house—in our case restructuring the main hallway entrance and creating the stairs access to the roof deck are probably the best examples. We have worked with architects before (in London) and never been disappointed, but this is definitely the best experience we have had. We would definitely choose Edmonds + Lee again for any future project. Working with Edmonds + Lee puts a mark on your house with a clear unifying sense of design that runs through the residence, creating a space with clean modern lines which is at the same time warm and welcoming—exactly what we were after.
