Tommy was great to work with in reconfiguring our main floor layout. I knew the bathroom needed to be moved, but didn’t have a vision for its new location until Tommy suggested we enlarge the hall closet in order to accommodate a small bathroom. This change made opening up our living space a reality! Our project is currently underway, and I cannot wait for it to be completed in a few more weeks!

We had a large master bath that was poorly laid out, with lots of wasted space. The master bath served both the master bedroom and an adjoining child’s bedroom. We needed someone with a lot of creativity to come up with a way to make two bathrooms out of the space of the one. Thomas, with his engineering background, came through with a design that is now highly functional for both spaces. The master bath now has a luxury spa feel with a wet room, Japanese soaking tub, heated towel rack, his and hers walk-in closets and plenty of storage space. The new master layout even accommodated the addition of a sauna! We could not be happier with the way it all turned out. The key to the whole project was a great design! Thanks Thomas!

Thomas was extremely professional from start to finish, as he navigated us through our master bathroom remodeling project. We had to make several adjustments along the way, and he was always helpful in guiding us through our choices. His recommended general contractor, and the subs that he used to complete our project, were professional and courteous, and worked with us so that we could still live and work in our space as the bathroom was being worked on. Thomas was onsite frequently, helping to ensure that the contractors were meeting his expectations for a finished product for us, and stayed in touch with us from design to finished product, to make sure we were happy with the finished project (and we LOVE it). We would highly recommend working with him for your redesign projects.

I had a great experience working with Thomas to renovate our master bathroom and other projects throughout the house. He is a designer with taste, a communicator with patience, and a contractor with reliability. As a designer, he is able to incorporate the current trend, clients' needs, and his own aesthetics in the design. As a previous engineer, his design matches almost perfectly with the final look. Even the tiles on the wall are exactly the same layout. He is also not afraid to veto bad ideas, when other contractors may just say yes to everything you want to get the job opportunity. As a communicator, he explained and walked me through the design, pricing, process, and schedule patiently. As a foreigner whose mother tongue is not English, I greatly appreciate his patience and simple ways to explain a complex project. Also, Thomas is very responsive through text, email and OneNote. As a contractor, Thomas helped me with a minor fix on the bathroom wall a year after my project was done, free of charge. I'm glad that I worked with Thomas who is reliable and stands behind his work. Last but not least, for all of us who care about budget, Thomas is not cheap but it worths the price tag. Thomas also helped us save big on AC unit, countertop slab, and a few other things. If you want a tasteful renovation that can last, he is the guy to help!

Wow, what an experience this has been! Let me start from the beginning of my process and how I came to the decision to hire HwRenewal and the final results of my project (if you want the short version, skip to the end). I started speaking with contractors in early 2018 to renovate our 1980's kitchen, master bathroom and master closet. I deal a little in construction in my profession (on an industrial scale) and know just enough to realize I didn't want to do this project without a general contractor. I was very far down the road with another contractor who had taken months and months to get me pricing; I'd met with them and their subcontractors every other week it seemed like, and each time it became more and more frustrating. I would describe my ideas and would get blank stares and head rubs in return. After about 6 months of this very frustrating process, I received a bid that didn't even include materials! Again, I know just enough that I knew I didn't want to be in charge of ordering tile, grout, tile adhesive, trims, windows, doorknobs, plumbing fixtures, the list goes on and on... So, I started looking for contractors again and came across HwRenewal on Houzz. This changed everything for my project and the entire experience for me. From the moment I started the questionnaire that was full of personality (I mean, seriously, who creates a questionnaire with personality?!) I knew this was the contractor for my project. After meeting with Thomas, it was even more obvious this is what I needed. When we walked through the space and he said, "I see a wet room here" I was hooked. I had tried to explain this concept to the previous contractor and that was one of the many blank stares I received in return. You should know that Thomas isn't just a general contractor, he is also an incredible designer; there is a huge difference between the two. One just builds what you tell them, the other designs the space to its full potential creating options you never even considered and making it a functional, captivating, beautiful space. This is so important to keep in mind when you're looking at the pricing of a job. Hiring Thomas is the same as hiring an interior designer to create the design, and then hiring a general contractor to build it, but since he's one-in-the-same the details aren't lost in translation. Thomas is the all-encompassing design build team. He is precise, organized, uses technology in smart ways, communicates every step of the way, has an intense attention to detail, great design sense, and a very funny sense of humor that makes the process more fun. Thomas stayed up many late nights (I know because I was emailing and working with him on One Note) looking for all the little details I wanted in the space. I'm pretty sure the lighting discussion had him pulling out his hair, but he was always patient and professional. I also had a very specific look I was going for with the wall tiles; I wanted large format, marble look, with as little grout as possible. I absolutely hate scrubbing shower grout. Thomas went above and beyond finding an option in my price range to the point of becoming a supplier of the Italian porcelain, buying specialized tools, specialized materials to install it, and hiring a person specially trained in cutting it to come for a day to help. It was quite an undertaking to say the least. It was worth it, though, the result is breathtaking! There are always things you don't plan on along the way on renovation projects, or any construction project for that matter, but Thomas communicated the solutions and options and we worked through them together. I'll wait and have Thomas put pictures up because I can't do his work justice with my cell phone camera. It turned out to be a work of art! The scope of this project, in the end, was: a complete demolition of the existing master bathroom and master closet; expanding and recreating the master bathroom and master closet; customizing and installing a closet system; updating a stairway; replacing the outdated front door; and adding gas lanterns on the front porch beside the new front door. I will have Thomas and his team back for the kitchen renovation and look forward to working with them all again! It's strange coming home now and not seeing Thomas and Gerardo (Gerardo was the on-site constant, amazing, contractor who really takes immense pride in his work) they feel like family now! If you skipped to the end for the short version, here it is: you get what you pay for, especially on an investment like this, and Thomas did an amazing job and was worth every penny!

We certainly made the right choice when we chose HwRenewal . . . to build a screened patio for our 1960 mid-century home. Thomas quickly grasped our vision and, during his daily visits to the job, he always had suggestions for time- and money-saving changes. The patio enclosure was constructed using PVC and included 8 beautiful columns, 2 aluminum-framed glass doors with dead-bolt locking handles, with a custom prairie-cross design at the bottom. There are 14 replaceable screen units, using Tuff-Screen inserts for durability and the safety and security of our 3 dogs and 5 cats! In addition to enclosing our patio, our job included replacing 3 old crank-style windows and trim with new egress windows for safety in case of fire; 2 new carport roof supports; a new oversized metal chimney cap that was custom-made; new ceramic cook-top; as well as other safety and cosmetic repairs. From the very start, Thomas promised us a professional and skillful crew and he delivered when he sent us Fernando, Isaiah, Gerardo, Rey, David, Juan and Carlos. They were master craftsmen - courteous, responsible, friendly, respectful of our property, and they soon became like family to us. The end result was well beyond our expectations and we would give them 6 stars, if that were possible. All that remains is to say, “Thank you, Thomas and Crew!”

Thomas was a pleasure to work with. He did an amazing job designing and creating the kitchen of our dreams. He always responded to any questions or concerns we had in a timely manner, and often times resolved issues before we had a chance to bring them up.

They were very clear with communication on what the plan was and scheduling. Very responsive to any issues that arose and were fantastic at helping to work through them to make the vision come to life!! Very pleased with the work!

I hired Homeworks Renewal to do an assessment of my rental home. The previous resident had destroyed it. I needed a professional to write a report of damages so that I could show my insurance company and possibly charge the resident. The assessment was very detailed and included prices to repair all damages and include pictures; this was just what I needed!

Are you in need of a project idea with clear insight and intense attention to EVERY detail? If so, then Thomas Hayes is your man. Thomas had very clear and concise communication from the beginning with the online questionnaire to the consultation/ information session. He takes his time and doesn't rush you as you explain your vision to him even if it is not "ideal". He wants to listen. He wants to use your ideas to flow into a Designed Built Masterpiece that you are not only part of but proud of. Thomas does not shoot down you or other professionals to down grade their workmanship or ideas even those that may be less than par, but positively uplifts them as professionals. He offers constructive feedback but with a hint of encouragement and empowerment. Due to the nature of our present financial situation, we did not go with Thomas because we really needed to do a very small scale job with our limited budget. Even with that, Thomas was willing to work with our budget and make it doable, but never once did he pressure or use sale tactics to persuade us to step outside of our comfort zone.
