Green Cedar Homes

Our experience with Green Cedar Homes has unfortunately reached the point where we feel prospective buyers need to understand what they may be getting into before purchasing a home from this builder. We purchased a brand-new home expecting there would inevitably be some deficiencies to work through. That's part of buying new construction. What we did not expect was the amount of time, effort and persistence that would be required from us simply to get deficiencies acknowledged, followed up on and properly corrected. Our biggest frustration has been communication and follow-through at virtually every level. Emails go unanswered. Follow-ups are required repeatedly. We've had numerous conversations with Green Cedar representatives about outstanding items, only to hear very little afterward. There seems to be a significant disconnect between identifying an issue, agreeing that something needs to be done, and actually getting the work completed. Unfortunately, the concerns we’ve experienced extend well beyond one individual deficiency. Since taking possession, we have dealt with multiple issues involving workmanship, deficiencies and unsuccessful or incomplete repairs. While we understand that deficiencies can occur with any new home, what has been most disappointing is the ongoing difficulty in getting Green Cedar to communicate, follow through and take ownership of resolving them properly. In several instances, considerable time has passed with little or no meaningful progress despite repeated conversations, emails and follow-ups. The situation has now reached the point where we have been forced to submit multiple separate claims through Alberta’s New Home Warranty program because we have been unable to achieve satisfactory resolution directly with Green Cedar. That is certainly not something we expected to be doing after purchasing a brand-new home. We would much rather have these matters dealt with directly and professionally by our builder, but the lack of communication and follow-through has left us with little choice but to pursue them formally through our warranty provider. The recurring theme throughout our experience has been the same: poor communication, inconsistent contractor workmanship, limited accountability and far too much responsibility being placed on the homeowner to continually follow up and push outstanding work forward. Buying a home is one of the largest investments most people will ever make. The relationship with your builder shouldn't end when they hand you the keys, and the quality of their warranty and after-possession service matters enormously. If you're considering purchasing a Green Cedar home, we would strongly encourage you to do your homework, speak with existing homeowners (in multiple local areas), ask detailed questions about their warranty process and contractor standards, and understand

Green Cedar Homes went above and beyond to address our concerns. They listened to our feedback, communicated professionally, and took prompt action to resolve the outstanding issues. We appreciate their commitment to customer satisfaction and are happy with the outcome. Thank you to the team for making things right.

We built our house in Chestermere with Green Cedar in 2020. Our experience with Green Cedar has been very positive and we highly recommend them. They stand behind the quality and design of their work. We have worked with few builders in the past but service from Green Cedar has been outstanding. They will be our first choice in future for building new home or renovation.

I have built 2 houses with Green Cedar Homes and the team is exceptional, they ensured that we got our dream home built to our expectation and with in our budget. They were there in every step of the way of the way to address all our questions and concerns. If you’re looking to build your dream home and get the best value for your money, I highly recommend contacting Green Cedar Homes.

We have purchased a home being built by Green Cedar. Unfortunately the customer service is deplorable. I am not sure whether the company assumes they are doing clients a favour? In reality, the people purchasing a home should be treated with respect, and responded to in a prompt and timely manner. I would not recommend this company.

Bought a house from green cedar homes in April, (they were the seller). Had two closet doors in different rooms fall off the hinges and hurt two people in my family. One was my 67 year old mother and the other was my three year old daughter. I had to fix all the closet doors myself because they were not properly installed. Brand new floors are bubbling, kitchen cabinets have so many holes from screws inside the cabinets that look awful. Left all there construction garbage all over the yard and in the garbage and recycle bins, I had to make a trip to the dump to get rid of it. Would not recommend this company to anybody. I work in the trade business so I know what is acceptable and what is not. Their lack of detail is pathetic.

Definitely the best experience I have had. Called almost every week for a year to ask if any think was not to my standard. No issues and the owner is definitely a perfectionist. Took care of minor paint issues and lighting issues ( I'm a little picky) but congrats to this young man for a dream home. Happy wife happy life, first time my wife didn't bother me with the choice I made. Thanks again Green Cedar Home, definitely recommend.
