The work was ok when completed, but took longer than it should have. Almost 2 months to stain a deck and paint 4 shutters. He also switched the better quality stain I had paid for with a lower quality stain. He still denies it, but product codes printed on the can don't lie. (the can label had mysteriously "fallen off") The big problem was that the contractor damaged the eavestrough at the front of my house. Before he started the job I specifically told him not to lean his ladder against the eavestrough. The eavestrough is relatively new and was in perfect condition. Not anymore. After damaging it he didn't tell me about it, hoping perhaps that I would never notice, but I did. One spot was badly mangled. I got 5 quotes for replacement varying from $700 to $2200. I picked the $1200 replacement from the company that had done the original install. I even offered to split the cost with this guy and withheld that amount in my final payment to him, even though he should have paid the whole thing. He asked to let him have his roofer see if it could be straightened. I agreed and if I was okay with the repair I would give him the balance. The repair was okay but still noticeable and I was reluctant to give him the balance. Then the abuse started. Name calling personal attacks, threats to place a construction lean on my home. He was also charging HST but refused to provide a number. I finally paid him just to get him off my back. Generally a bad experience. Beware.
