Hundt Architecture

Our project was one of those similar to what people might see on HGTV . The home was a 1950's 1 story lake cottage approx. 900 sq.ft. , full basement, but no garage. Because of a small lot, any renovation footprint was restricted on all 4 sides. We were referred to Ryan Hundt thru a builder and from there our renovation plan was started. Through many back and forth design discussions over several months, Ryan provided us concept plans and dimensions that would allow for the design to fit the setback requirements. The renovation that Ryan's creativity and attention to detail produced, became a reality this past year. The home is now an 1800 sq.ft. 2 story with a wrap around porch and 2 car garage & mudroom. It captures the old cottage look for its exterior elevation. The interior has a 2nd floor Master suite, an office, and a large laundry room. The 1st floor is open to the family room, kitchen, and eating area. Plus a secondary bedroom with it's own private bathroom. We are very proud and pleased with the home. As for our opinion of Ryan Hundt, this project was a daunting task for the most capable of Architects, and it quickly became apparent to us that Ryan was the one for this project. His professionalism, prompt response to questions, and being mindful of any budget concerns make for a successful project. Congratulations Ryan ! Great job.

Ryan did an amazing job of translating our priorities into a very thoughtful and functional design that we didn't think was possible. Ryan was very helpful during the early stages of the remodel to make sure that the builder had a clear understanding of requirements. I would highly recommend Hundt Architecture to anyone who is considering a home remodel.

I've worked with Ryan Hundt twice now, once for a kitchen/bath remodel and now on a full lake house build from scratch. He is so wonderful to work with because he has a calm demeanor and is very professional. He is not pushy, but always gives reasons behind his design choices. He also gave us computerized renderings so we could visualize what the interiors would look like with furniture. Ryan also tapped into our Houzz and Pinterest pages to make sure he understood our style so I felt like we were on the same page. On our remodel, Ryan really listened to us and helped seamlessly match a 100 year-old house with a new kitchen. He suggested a built-in larder which has since been copied by some of our friends and is in constant use in our home. He is creative. When our contractor was pushing back on a design issue, Ryan spoke up for us and made sure things ran smoothly. For our new build, Ryan had to work with a strange lot shape, specific requests from us and lots of DNR restrictions, but he handled it without any apparent stress! We were so pleased with the design. He has a solid sense of what works well in a setting and a knack for mixing contemporary and old. I also appreciated his suggestions for a project manager, designer, and other artisans. He knows quality people. We highly recommend Ryan as an architect, either for small or large-scale projects.

Ryan's name came highly recommended through quite an interesting route: My wife's uncle is an architect in California who went to school in Milwaukee 30 years ago. He put us in touch with his old college roommate, Gary, who is also an architect in Milwaukee but only does corporate projects. Gary highly recommended us to Ryan and we are very thankful he did. We hired Ryan for a project to add a new bathroom on a balcony over an existing mudroom as well as remodel and reconfigure our existing full bathroom. Throughout the entire process, Ryan was a pleasure to work with. He listened closely and captured exactly what we wanted. He wasn't hesitant to offer suggestions which helped us think outside the box and ultimately provided better functionality to our bathrooms. After spending time listening to our needs and wants, Ryan drew up detailed floor plans and 3D computer models of the new spaces for both us and our contractor. In addition, Ryan represented us in front of the Design and Review Board of our city to get our project approved. Throughout the entire process, Ryan was extremely personable, professional, and knowledgeable. His calm presence kept us at ease during a potentially stressful time. Plus, he was always available to give us advice on design decisions and did not hesitate to give us his honest opinion on our ideas. Ryan was a joy to work with and we will definitely be recommending him to others!

I met Ryan through the contractor we decided to use for our kitchen remodel. Ryan is super personable, extremely thorough and very reasonable. Ryan really listened to what we wanted to do with our kitchen and incorporated that into all of the drawings that he provided. He even took note of the lighting fixtures that we wanted to make sure he put those into the drawings. This was particularly helpful for my husband who wasn't super involved with the planning. It allowed him to really picture what the kitchen would look like. We loved working with him so much that we had him design our wine bar and is now working on our basement. I was very impressed with how he was able to work on all the details of a commercial space after primarily doing residential. Ryan is someone that I would recommend for anyone to use on any project.

Our contractor connected us with Ryan. We had thought we could do our kitchen/living room remodel without an architect - we were wrong. Working with Ryan was just what we needed to make our disparate ideas/thoughts (and sometimes a bickering husband/wife duo) into a unified vision. His talent and his vision were key to our final design. Ryan respected our ideas, but also was able to add input to help fill out our design plan. He "got" our design style right away and his additions and suggestions were always spot on in terms of what we were looking for. Ryan is a genuinely really nice, easy-going guy - and *very* easy to work with. He is responsive, dependable (when he said we would get drawings/revisions, we got them), and simply does great work. We have not started demo yet, and I cannot wait to see Ryan's designs in our remodeled home. I highly recommend him!

Ryan Hundt, and Hundt Architecture is a refreshing presence when it comes to Architects. He is approachable, considerate and very respectful to his clients taste, budget and overall goal.
